Hello anyone can help? any ideas?
hmm, I'd guess that it was an allergy, especially being aroudn the mouth (the saliva does it!) If it were the first few times he'd had strawberries I'd suggest it was those, but as he's been having them for a few months... I guess you don't know. Anything new he's had? cut the new foods and see (one at a time) if it goes, you know what it is.
He's not teething, is he?

Thankyou Seekrit for taking the time to reply. I feel a little silly now as I do think he is teething. Maybe it a rash from all the dribble? Only because I know he hasnt had anything out of the ordinary. I will keep an eye on it I guess. Thanks for info. Cherrie

Hopefully it's just from the teething drool. But it is possible for an intolerance to show up over some time. That's what happened with My DS - he had been having strawberries off and on for about 3 months. One day I gave gave him too many as he seemed to be loving them so much. He got a rash around the mouth which persisted for several weeks. After weeks of monitoring the rash (a bit like excema) I now know that strawberries, kiwi fruit and tomatoes agrivate it. Previously he was able to have all three with no problems. I just tipped the balance.

Strawberries are one of those foods that are not advised for under 12 months. If you have experienced a reaction now I would avoid them till 12 months comes around.
Sometimes you can have something no problems before a reaction occurs.

It is okay, I didnt know that either, I only knew cows milk, penuts, milk, egg and honey were off limits.
I gave my son strawberry at nine months after seeing in a coles mag a recipe for fruity ice blocks, I am not happy at coles.
But he was okay, luckly.
Yes, strawberries are a high reaction food. He has probably been building up antibodies and it has finally caused him to react. People often don't react to these foods straight away but the body builds up the reaction over time and then bam, it hits. It's not so much an 'allergy' just a common reaction to a food introduced too early.
My nearly-2 year old hasn't had them yet.
I would hold off as long as you can.
Its not your fault, just one of those minefields in this journey of parenting we are all on! :hugs:

Its all rather daunting when its your first child and you have no idea what your doing. I guess I will learn, just hope I dont damage him in the process!
