I'm trying to encourage DS (2y2m) in the great adventure of the potty/toilet as I think he might be ready to start training, but he's reluctant to actually SIT on it:laughing:... So I thought I'd try a Sticker Chart to encourage him, 'sit on the toilet 5 times, get a sticker every time and on the fifth, a little present (which is already wrapped and on display as a visual encouragement aide :yelclap:)'
He perked up at the mention of stickers (I got thomas ones as he's just discovered thomas the tank engine with gusto!) but I'm just not sure if it's going to work, is he too young? Anyone's experiences would be very helpful...

I would still reward for each time, he may not understand the concept of 5 sits = a sticker IYKWIM
We have a reward chart, 1 sticker for each chore, then a gold one for every 5, each gold one is worth 50 cents :) younger dd gets it alot better, she knows 5 stars it a good thing whereas she didnt get the one star for 5 things, if that makes sense :)

A sticker chart for good behaviour didn't really work for my DD until she was around 3 1/2 years old. Before then, she never really got the whole concept.
Stickers are great for that age but not the whole sticker chart concept. Probably still a bit young.

i actually saw a sticker chart specially for toilet training in Toys r us!!
i want to start a sticker chart just for normal behaviour and noticed that one in there
theres character ones. thier cute
I think the best thing to do with toilet training is give some sort of little reward for every successful potty use :) I gave DD one of those tiny little musk sweets that you get from Darrell Lea, after a week she was doing fantastic......we also did a bit of a wee wee dance
As for reward charts & such we use a glass jar that DD decorated with stickers & I got a bag of marbles & we sat down & talked about what was good behaviour & was was bad behaviour & every time she was good she would get to put a marble in & everytime she was bad she would have to take one out & when she fills the jar she gets to go shopping for a gift....so far so good :) but she is almost 4.
