Hi all,

Ok, so I'm 19 weeks pregnant with baby #3 and our scan is next Thursday and we're hoping to find out the sex (providing there are no crossed legs etc!)
Our other kids are:
Chelsea Grace Moore (3) &
Nicola Kate Moore (22 mths)
If baby #3 is a boy he will be Connor Andrew Moore (Andrew is my hubby's middle name) and even tho he's not sure on the name Connor, I told him that until he comes up with something better he's got 21 weeks to get use to it (!) :D
However...
If baby #3 is a girl we're really struggling. I've used up half the names on my list that my hubby doesn't like on the girls' cabbage patch dolls (Ruby Jasmine & Mia Paige) and there's only one girls name that has given me tingles since.
ISOBELLA (nickname Bella). But I just don't have any middle names that go with it. I prefer a middle name with 1 syllable (as you can see from our other names) but would also consider some names with 2 syllables. So if anyone has some suggestions I'd love to hear them!
Thanks. Anna :)

for some reason "Marie" popped into my head. Isobella Marie isn't bad, but not sure about Isobella Marie Moore.

My mother is Ruth, but a bit old fashioned. I also like Laura.

What about "Rose"? It fits in with your other names and Isobella Rose Moore has a nice ring to it. I haven't used it on either of my girls yet but if we have a third it is up there in the favourites!

Hi
I LOVE names...thanks for giving me a chance to suggest some of my non-starters (only two children to name - what a shame!).

What about Isobella Sage Moore. Sage means "wise", what a great thing to wish for your new baby. And its got only one syllable, and it sounds pretty good with Moore.

Cheers

Cheers Pippa

as soon as I saw Isobella (which is REALLY pretty by the way) I thought of Jade (snaps Desertress!) which is odd as it is a name I wouldnt usually think of but it sounds really pretty.

I also like Isobella Rose. Your girls have some beautiful, classic names and Bella Rose would fit in really well. Good choice with Grace too - my baby is Olivia Grace.

Connor Andrew is lovely too. I am a big fan of using family names.

Kelly- 26
Todd - 31
Olivia - 28/09/04

WOW! Thanks everyone for your great suggestions - especially the ones that are a bit different like "Sage" & "Jade" - I'd have never thought of putting those names together but I said them out loud and they sounded wonderful! Now just to convince the hubby!!

I also noticed that everyone spelt Isobella with an "o" instead of an "a". Is that because I did or is that how everyone else spells it too?
I'd like to use ISOBELLA not ISABELLA - any comments on which one looks better?

Hi

My babies name is Isabella Grace, Isabella seems to be really popular at the moment.
i think that the way you spell it (ISOBELLA) would make it just that little bit different and stand out a bit more!!!!

Just remember that if you go with Isobella you (and she) will spend the rest of your lives correcting peoples spelling of her name because Isabella is the usual version

I'm going to weigh in with Willsmum and vote for the traditional spelling. Isobella/Isabella is unusual enough that your daughter will likely always be distinctive. Constantly having to explain how to spell your name is annoying - some people don't even get "Martha" right, which I've never understood. And with existing variations such as Isabel, Isabelle and Isabella, she'll already have some explaining to do on occassion.

But that's just my opinion :) I saw a "Khloe" the other day and my first thought was, "Pretty spelling, but poor thing!".

I am going to agree with Martha and Willsmum here - my name is not that unusual but can be spelt with or without the "h" and I have had to spell it my whole life.
By the way - although I suggested Rose I also love the name Sage and think it sounds lovely with Isa/obella!

Hi
I made sure to check how you had spelt it.

In general, I agree with Martha and Willsmum esp when it comes to downright weird ways to spell names. But I think that Isobella is not way out when it comes to spelling (its not like you're going for Izobelah). And as for having to spell out your name - there's about three different ways to spell Jane, Lisa and Tracey too. I think most of us expect to have to spell our names, even Samantha, which is totally phonetic and I've never seen a serious alternate spelling for (people just can't seem to get it right!)

It just depends how you want it to sound. I pronounce "isAbella" and "isObella" slightly differently, so go with the sound you prefer.

Cheers

My friend recently suggested Skye as a middle name. Isobella Skye sounds pretty. I'm considering it for a middle name for #3 if it ends up being a girl.

Thanks for you input!

I agree xkwzit with the sound of the name differing slightly with the two different ways of spelling. I do like the IsObella sound a lot better than Isabella as it's a softer sound & it makes you think before you say it. Sometimes I've heard Isabelle or Isabella sound like "Iza" which I don't really like.

Oh boy why is it soo hard to find the right name?!
Even people get my name wrong (Anna) - I get so many people asking if it's double "n" to spell it or was that Anna or Hannah (especially over the phone) so in this day and age of increasingly obscure names/spellings even John isn't safe!

One more agonising day before the big 20 week scan and (hopefully) finding out the sex of the baby and ending all this!
Thanks for all your help everyone and keep those middle names coming!
