Hello.

I was wondering if anyone has any experience with 'The Sleep Dr', Dr Brian Symon? DD is 8 months and wakes every 2 hours overnight from midnight and needs me to resettle her. The problem is I do not want to do controlled crying and know he uses this technique. I have heard he looks at other things as well and has other suggestions, do you think its worth going to see him to get his overall advice when i wont do controlled crying?

Thanks.

I went and saw him when DS was about 7-8 months.. my appt was with him but I got a collegue of his and then he came and saw me at the end.

His collegue, forgotten his name sorry, seemed nice, but he was very forward. One of the first things he said to me was that this "program" was designed for parents to get some peace pretty much, not for the baby.

He also told me that DS wasn't sleeping because he wasn't having 2 cups worth of food each day.. ummmm

He did tell me how to do controlled crying. I didn't really get much advice apart from that.

But I think it was only $20 or something so it's worth going along, if you don't like what they say, you can just take it on board and do what is best for you.

If you're against controlled crying I wouldn't bother seeing him.

I know several couples who've gone to see him and he'll basically tell you to shut the door and not even go back in until 6am.

Let me know what works!! DD is 8.5 months and wakes at least every 2 hours overnight - the night before last was 11pm, 12am, 1.05am, 2.15am, 3.30am, 5am and then 6.30am. NIGHTMARE!!!! She doesn't cry much, but will grizzle and not sleep until I pick her up or get up and rub her head.
Ive heard of people swearing by this guy, but my attempts at controlled crying failed (apart from one) and I can't do it anymore.

That was nothing like what he told me... It was quite a long appointment, but yes, he did tell me about controlled crying.
