View Full Version : How to find a good paed specialising in autism?
Can someone help me out? Im trying to figure out how I can find a good paed that specialises in autism. Is it a case of going to every paed and testing out the waters or is there an easier (read-less expensive) way to do this?
I am completely clueless here im afraid :o
oh I should add that im looking for one in Sydney and if possible around the bankstown area if anyone can offer up some suggestions they would be GREATLY appreciated :flowerz:

I would say word of mouth, although if you are limited in that way generally CHNs are good or organisations such as Scope etc. We just went through a paed for ds, the lady from scope gave me a list of recommended pead who specilise in the field that he needs and she told me who not to go too. Not sure if you have something similar up there (they work with early intervention). If you need more info on them happy to help and tell you how to find them :)
Would love some more information!!
Hi,
I have an almost 4 year old son diagnosed with classic autism and a 5 year old that we are worried about. My son was diagnosed through Nepean Hospitals Child Development Unit. Apparently the CDU at Westmead is excelletn but a long wait. nepean has a long wait as well. We have found a paed that specialises in Autism. he is in Wahroonga. Dr Robert Hardwick, apparently he and the Dr that runs the CDU at Westmead are the only two around. He is very difficult to get an appointment to see, I know he doesnt have any appts left for this year. Good luck

A good way to find out who is near you would be to ring your state's Autism centre and ask them for a list of paeds. They should be able to point you in the right direction.
