Ugh..

At what age do children start using the word "No!"

Ella was saying it as soon as she could talk. I reckon she must have been about 10 months old :( It doesn't stop either..... :o

So far my DD only uses it for things she really doesn't want - like coming out of the bath, or going to bed, or eating something/anything.

Aaaarrgh... such a little word, but such a big deal!!!
DS1 is in the "No" phase...eg he used to be great on the loo, but now if I see him doing his little poo jig and ask him to come to the toilet..."No!"...even when he is sitting there doing a poo its, "no mum, I don't need a poo"
really trying to use other words and work around it, and then I walk in on him and DP arguing .."Yes", "no", "Yes" "no", "yes", "no", "yes', "no", "yes'', ''no'' ...etc etc

Well that's good, at least she knows what it means.:)

Once they start saying it too, trust me, it'll only get worse when they are older

Love that word...No:hair:
I have a fight every night with my 3 and 1/2 year old to eat his dinner.
I let him choose 'eat your dinner'
or you can 'go to bed'.
He saids 'No...I 'm doing nothing "
I didn't think there was a 3rd option:laughing:

DD turned 2 years in April. In the last month she has been saying 'No' when you ask her stuff that she obviously doesn't want to do or eat!

Her first word was 'Dad', first sentence was 'Don't touch'.

She is starting to talk a bit more, no real sentences, but she repeats everything she hears!

My DS won't say it - but he laughs when I say it and deliberately does again what I have said no to. :hair:

Skye has just started saying it this week. I think she copies me though when I say "no" when she touches things she shouldn't. I think Hayley was a bit older (about 2)

I thought they started around 2 as well. Ah well, as long as my DD does it when she means it and not ALL the time hehe
