I am at my wits end. My 18 month old DD WILL NOT eat any veges at all. Its like she has a vege radar and even when I try to sneak the tiniest bits of veges into her food, she can taste it and spits it out, then will refuse to eat that food ever again.

Dinner time at my house is a night mare. She never wants anything else but cheese for dinner. I will make these lovely little meals, really yummy I have to say, and she (ever night) pushes them away saying "nooooo" and then says "cheese?!" It drives me absolutely nuts. I am running out of ideas on how to get her to eat her veges.

My mum visited recently and said "oh I'll get her to eat them, I have tricks". After failing miserably she said "oh she'll be fine without them". Ha! So it's not just me!

On the bright side, she will eat the following happily:

blueberries
oats
strawberries
banana
cheese (only grated though)
apple
turkey
bread
pikelets (with a tiny bit of veg hid in them)
grapes
avocado
cottage cheese
lamb cutlets (bloomin' $$$$!!!!)

Is this okay or should I be worrying? Is this just a phase? I'm a mother on the edge :crying:

my daughter eats all her vigies even frozen peas n brocoli,

i wouldnt worry to much but i would try grating vegies up n putting in your tomatoe sauces/pastas etc

my 11 year went about a year eating porridge n frozen fishfingers for breakfast/lunch n dinner,

My DS was like this until he turned 4. On his 4th birthday he decided he liked it  Odd!!

Any how, to get the vegies into him, I pureed them & mixed them into spaghetti bol or lasagne.

Good luck, I truly understand how frustrating it is :hugs:

but if its only veges... jessica seinfeild wrote a book called deceptively delicious..(SP?) and i saw it on oprah... if you have tried everything i reckon the book is worth a go:thumbsup: im going to buy it as soon as i get some money again:yes:

What about instead of hiding it, just leave the vegies whole and put cheese on them.

I know my DD will eat broccoli when there is cheese melted on it.

I was going to suggest the cheese thing.

My DD1 was like this....refused to eat vegies and meat from about 13 or 14 months. She has just now, at 2 1/2 changed her mind but we've had to work with a dietician in the mean time. (she was living on fruit and bread and her iron levels ended up being low).

If it were me, she wouldn't get the cheese if she didn't eat her veggies. A child won't starve themselves! My DD1 went to bed without dinner almost every night for 18 months. Apart from her iron levels bordering low she was healthy the whole time. I was never nasty about it, she has never been forced to eat, but she didn't get to choose what she wanted either.

You can get vitamin supplements too if you're worried.

But yes, try hiding them in anything you can think of (DD1 never let one slide...ever!) and then just have some veggies on the side as well. If you keep dishing them up one day she'll eventually eat them. For DD1 it was a sticker chart that worked in the end but your DD is far too young for that!

It's a stage that

We went through a short stage with DS when he was twoish

We had Winnie the Pooh Carrots Grown by Rabbit (honey carrots), and proceeded to introduce each vegie as the favourite of some childhood friend

I got an old Popeye Video and after that we'd eat and sing:rolleyes:) "I'm Popeye the Sailorman...

We also grew some vegies like spinach and tomatoes which increased DS's interest in vegies

Are the veges always cooked, or have you tried them raw... all the colourful ones like capsicum, cucumber, olives, carrot, broccoli etc get eaten in my house if the are in finger form and raw, but as soon as I cook them ...nope, nah, spat out straight away.
