Hey all,
I am just writing because I just wanted to know if I should have got my periods back yet?
Sorry if I offend some by asking this however my son is just about 4 months old.
I am breastfeeding but I got told not getting your periods from this is garbage.
I am getting pretty bad cramping, but I have two groin hernias so I ave just been ptting it down to this.
Does anyone knoe if I should have gotton back my monthly "best friend"?!?!
LOL...
Thanks from Cat
It can take some time and will vary with each pg. I think DD1 was 8ish months and DD2 about 6? BF will delay the return of your period, but you can ovulate before you have a period.
Cheers
I know mums that have been bf for much longer than you and still have not got their periods back. I'd say just enjoy it while it lasts.... not like you miss them right?!?!?

No it's not garbage at all... I have been BFing for 9 months now and haven't had my period yet. The idea is that nature helps prevent you from having another baby straight away, by making it less likely to get pregnant while BFing. Of course you can get pregnant though - as I am sure many bubhubbers will attest to!
So while some women don't get their period while BFing, some do, and either way is fine and dandy :D .
I didn't get my period while breastfeeding - I actually didn't get my period at all between DD1 and DD2 as I got pregnant the first time I ovulated at 11 months. With DD2 I got my period after 13 months (I know, I know - how lucky is that). So don't worry - everyone is different - no hard and fast rules with this stuff.

Yeah i agree everyone is different so dont worry.
I had my bub's in october. had a normal period for nov and dec then it stopped for 4 months, only just got it other day! and i stopped BF in early jan!
If you are worried tho, speak to your local GP!

I finished breastfeeding about 6 weeks ago (my baby is now 14 months old). I only just had my first period last week and this was due to the fact that I just finished my first month back on the combined pill.
seems normal to me (I have even had cramp like symptoms... but no period) - my son is now 5 months old... - so no period for 14 months WHOOHOO :smiliedance:
- I'm not even bfeeding full time (twice a day) and it still hasn't returned (touch wood!!)
xx
I've been bf for 8 mths and still no period (no complaints here!!), No period cramps for 17mths!! YAY!!
I do agree that you shouldn't take that (ie no period) as a sign that you aren't ovulating, as my BIL's ex got pregnant with my niece (who turns 8yrs on Sunday) whilst bf her son (they are 15mths apart).

Like everyone else said....we're all different. I'm one of the unlucky ones who gets their monthly friend straight away.....Logan was 3 weeks old when i got my first...and Angus was 6 weeks, and both were fully breastfed!

I got mine back when DD was 6 months old, but they're a bit all over the place - not regular at all.

Hi
I breastfed my DD for 5 months and did not get a period. When I stopped breastfeeding I went on the pill and got my period straight away.
I just stopped breastfeeding my DS on saturday (breastfed for 5 months and no period) so it will be interesting to see when I get my period back because I dont want to get the pill this time because I will forget to take it.
