Wanting to take our 20month old to a zoo this weekend i think he his ready but not sure which one to take him to we definately won't be going to Australia zoo as we don;t want to spend that amount of money and in turn aiden doesn't like it so its down to Currumbin Wildlife or Alma park are there any others? Which one would be best to go to for a younger child and has more animals etc. REally need opinions thanks!

Hmm Well We were off to Forest Glen Deer park on the weekend but when we got up there found that It had been closed for 4 Years or so.

My DH took DD1 to the Alma Park Zoo when she was about 20months. She enjoyed herself, and It is quite cheap. Not a HUGE range of animals there, but there are monkies and a bear and kangaroos.

It would be worth it for you little one, but not Too fabulous for the adults.

Currumbin would be great For birds, We are going to head down there in the next fortnight. Or Up to Oreilys To feed the birds up there. BUt they are just wild birds that are kind of domesticated.

Hope that helped.

we took dd to currumbin a few months ago when she was about 19 months old, she did like it but i was a bit disappointed with the place, i have been few times before, years ago now, but quite a few of the exhibits were empty. she liked the kangaroos and looking at koalas.... but that was about it really..... i was thinking of taking her to australia zoo soon, is it really expensive??
and i went to the forest glen place about 11 years ago  dont i sound old!!!!! (my sis was about 4 at the time and a deer bit her!! didnt do any damage but it was so funny!!!)

Hi,
I don't know where you live, but Lone Pine is a great place for kids. We have been taking my little man there since he was 1... loves it... in fact a year pass is a great investment :)
Enjoy wherever you go.

Alma park is right near me!

I have taken my kids there, and it is small, but it is enough for little kids, they had a ball.

its $51 or $56 one or the other so thats not that expensive if you were to make the most of it but its alot of shows andalot bigger than the others so for a toddler proabbly not that good definately a good zoo for older kids and adults - i forgot about lone pine - its so hard to decide i think i'm best to go to the cheapest and see how he goes first he may not be interested at all and would be a waste of money. At least at alma park and those smaller ones you can have a picnic or bbq there so that seems to be the plan - does anyone know of any other places for little ones to go to - i tried seaworld but was quite worthless. So hard to find places these days i would love to go to a little petting farm but don't know where to look!!

We took DS (20months at the time) to Dreamworld, we had half price tickets, and he loved it. I didn't think there would be much for him at first but we had to drag him out of the wildlife park lol. He loved feeding the kangaroos and the goats etc. He also got to go on the carousel, the swings (with DP), little helicopters, tea cups etc. They also have a little playroom in wiggle bay that has heaps of toys and cars to ride in. DS was the only one in the playroom when we went so he had the whole room to himself. dreamworld have a play pass ticket which allows one adult to take one child under the age of 4 for $33. It can only be used on a Tuesday and Thursday though. If you are interested in that, all the info is on the dreamworld website

Walkabout creek at Enogra is a nice small cheap alternative, about $5 for adults. It has a small avery, some wallabies, a platypus. takes a max of 30 minutes to walk around.

Werent a lot of the enclosures wiped out near the start of the year, or end of last year with the floods there??? I'm pretty sure they were...

We went to Australia Zoo and loved it....as it has a great range of animals...

ETA: ALready mentioned..sorry I didnt read....lol

What about Dreamworld....Kids are free, so you pay for the adults....get discounted tickets usually online...and you get the tigers, and the animal petting zoo, which DS loved... and the other Aussie natives, and the bird enclosure...

And you get to take them to Wiggles world too...so they can have fun on rides, and you and your hubby can have fun on the rides too....

Always a bit of a twist on the whole zoo thing....

We enjoyed Currumbin, however we haven't been to Alma Park Zoo so can't compare.
At Currumbin you can feed the Kangaroos.
My boy is a tad bit older than yours, but feeding the Kangaroos could still be fun. :D
