ok here go's a bit of history ,this is bub number 6 for us James 17,Tallithia 15,Lyarnah-Grace 13,Torrii 12 and Jorjia 7 so there was a bit of an age gap this time.
At my 29 week appointment they sent me for a sizing scan as my last bub was 9lbs 110z and they wanted to check on this one ,so i went to the scan thinking maybe if he was big they would induce me early (i have been induced with 4 of the first 5 ) well they did think he was large but were more concered that he was breech but told me not to worry he would turn but that they would do another scan at 35 weeks to check.
sure enough he was still breech and they told me i would have to have a c/s well i told them no way i had been researching breech births on the internet and i would be having a natural birth wether they liked it or not.
they sent me to john hunter hospital to see a specialist who delivers vag breech bubs and thank god they did he was a blessing.
I did try heaps of things to turn bub ,moxa sticks ,spinning babies, hanging upside down and none of it worked well Dr Bisits tried 4 ECV's wich all failed my bub was happy were he was and he wasn't moving for anything.
i was very lucky to be able to birth my baby as there are certain things that have to be taken into account for them to let you have a breech vag birth ,adiquite pelvis, bub can't be over 4kg,you cant go over by more then 10 days ,you cant be induced and because i am a big lady and had to give birth on a stool i couldn't have pain relefe.
well at 41 weeks Dr did another scan and bub was still breech but was over 4kg so he decided to break my waters as he was sure i would go into labour but as usual not me so after waiting 6 hours for me to do it on my own on went the drip and on came the pain, the one thing i was not to do was stay on the bed as this is not good for breech babys as they really need gravity but because i was induced they had to moniter my all the time and as bub was postirior the back labour was hard, they finally got a scalp monitor on his bum so i could get up this was 4 hours after the first contraction and with in minuets i could feel him moving down, the pain was shocking i have had all my babies drug free but i tell you this time i would have taken the lot but i couldn't.
they had told us what to expect as with a breech baby the first sign that bub is getting close to being born is that muconium starts to come out well boy did it there was heaps of it so they got me on the birthstool and i was told to push and what a feeling it is very differant to a head first bub ,got him out to the neck and then lost the urge to push and this is the most dangerous time for bub as his oxygen is cut off so i just gave it all i had and out he came ,they gave him straight to me and he was perfect,
they cut the cord and i had to get on the bed i have to say this was very hard ,delivered the placenter without any probs but for the first time in 6 births i needed stitches only 6 but they was awfull and the worst part of the whole process.
My beautifull baby boy Samual was born at 8.47pm on the 29/03/08 weighing 4040kg or 8lbs15oz 57cm long h/c 37cm and the only thing wrong was a very deep bruise to his right hip .
we were both doing great and i was allowed to go home 6 hours after he was born it did feel kind of strange to leave the hospital at 2.30am but i wanted to go home.
thank for reading my very long birth story.
