I have heard that accupuncture can help improve fertility over time, but I was giving some consideration to having accupuncture around the time that I ovulate in the hope it might be a great form of 'relaxation'??
Has anyone tried this, and if I have a couple of Q's....
- does it help 'relax' the body?
- how much would one expect to pay for a session of however long duration?
- Is it best done the day prior to when you normally ovulate, or on the day?
Thanks

Hi there
I am a huge fan of acupuncture for TTC. DH and I didn't use protection for 3.5 years although we weren't actually trying for 3 years of it. Then had acupuncture and herbs and fell pregnant next cycle (although had m/c). I was seeing an acupuncturist that specialised in fertility and a lot of the treatment was about lifestyle including relaxation. I feel very relaxed after a good treatment. As for when to have it, he used to see people at about CD1 and CD14 but not sure if that would fit with everyone's ovulation point.
Treatments last about an hour including the consultation and then lying there with the needles stuck in you. Should cost about $50-70 depending on who you see although sometimes initial treatments cost more. Also, in most capital cities there are colleges with 3rd or 4th year students and they "practise" on you under supervision and this should only cost about $10-20. I have done this as well and the treatment is good as you have the supervisors watch where they put the needles and they make sure the students have selected the best points for you.
Hope this helps!

Thanks Ladies, will ring my local one and see how it all works.
Ooh I had acupuncture and look how I ended up!
I only had the one session, apparently that's all I needed!
I didn't find it overly relaxing though, I think I was so tense about whether the needles would hurt or not, it was all I could focus on!
I paid about $70 for that visit, but because it was my first visit I was told I would have to pay more. Subsequent visits would be around $50.
Luckily, I never had to go back! :)

ok hun im an so very bad with needles (had to get over it quickly too! lol ) but with these they are very fine and they may hurt just a little bit in some areas but i am sure you probably won't have a problem with them hun.
I was very very tense the first time. The second time i went back to her she said that my should look better when i asked what she meant. she said that the 1st time my shoulders were up around my ears because i was so tense! lol I trully love it.
Try not to stress to much about it hun and good luck! :hugs:
