I wouldn't give them together. I have not used neurofen tho as DD has bad asthma and I would never want to risk an attack. They are both forms of pain relief so I would check if you can for sure, just to be safe.

Just give neurofen and if the temp doesn't come down, wait 4 hrs to give panadol.
Try giving him a tepid bath too, that can help.

Strip him off for a bit & see how he goes then if he stays the same throw him in the bath ok well dont throw him but you know what i mean.
I have only ever piggybacked nuerofen with panadol but that was when bubs had a bad virus where his temp was sky high & this was the only way to help keep it a little lower as well as baths.
As Kris said i would go the neurofen first & if that doesnt work then i would contact a chemist there will be one open somewhere & ask whether its ok but if he is only warm i wouldnt get too carried away with the meds before trying other ways to keep it down.
Good luck :hugs:

Theres no chemists open around here, im in a country town, not a city,, :(

well mummy dearest has given me some advice.... " give it to him "
She seems to think that if dimetapp has No ibuprofen in it then, its fine...
She says Dimetapp is for the Runny Nose,,etc
and Nurofen is for the pain..fever...
so its Ok...:D

Piggybacking Panadol and Nurofen is fine. They told us to do this for DS at the hospital once. I don't know the major ingredients of Dimetapp - is it paracetamol ? If so, you should be right.

You really need to be careful with giving them something when you're not sure of the outcome. Paracetamol can cause major issues when overdosed and Ibuprofen can cause stomach ulcers and worse.

Maybe a phone call to the local regional hospital ?

i know for a fact that you can use nurofen and panadol together and all the doctors i have asked and the chemists have all agreed. this is how you use them though

give say panadol at 7 pm(estimated time) then in 1 hour if the fever etc hasnt subsided you give the normal dosage of nurofen (it has to be no earlier then an hour between the medicines) then in the normal 4 hous recheck temps etc and if they are still high repeat the process you can do this for 2 days if it hasnt eased by then i would not personally keep this going but would go to the dr as there more than likely would be an underlying problem iykwim

and also if bubs has a fever do not strip him of his clothes leave the clothes on that he has been in otherwise you could give him a chill.

This is one of the first things you should do obviously dont strip them naked but if bubs is in something warm like a tracksuit or the likes then you take them out of it to make sure the reason that they are so warm is due to overheating. It also allows them to help regulate their body temp a little easier again obviously dont strip them naked unless putting them in a bath but unless you stand them in front of a fan or open window then you wont give them a chill that easily.
