i went to the hospital today (i am 12 weeks preg and went early as i have a "high risk"pregnancy) they for some reason could not find the records of my delivery (emergency c/s )of ds , performed 4 years ago. i asked if i could have an elective c/s this time and they said they would have to find my records, go over the circumstances and see what was in my best interest. ive heard of people being talked out of vbac due to medical reasons but does anyone ever get talked out of choosing a c/s second time around????

I know many that have been talked out of having a c-sect second time around because the success rates of a VBAC are so high and in most cases giving birth naturally is a much better option than having major surgery again.

In saying that, I do think its complete personal choice. I didnt get a choice I had another emerg c-sect last time and will end up having another one this time but would have loved to be able to give birth naturally.

Its 'generally' better for bubs to be born naturally as well. So I think what the doctors said to you sounds perfect.. it all depends on your circumstances as to what is best MEDICALLY for you but ultimately it will be your decision, if they think a VBAC is the better option they will try to persuade you though so you might have to stand your ground :)

At the end of the day Sue its your birth not theirs. Just stand your ground with whatever you are comfortable with!
