View Full Version : Crock pot? Anyone have one?
Do these still exist? I want to go buy one today and was wondering if there are modern types still made - we had one as a kid and used to be great.

I have a Ronson slowcooker and its fabulous!! (and yes, a slowcooker is a crockpot):yelclap:
I just remember it as crock pot as a kid - maybe thats a bit 70's now? Ok - so i know now im looking for a slow cooker:D
I have an original crock pot - it's a horrible orange swirly pattern and brown ceramic inside. I haven't used it in ages, but will probably dig it our over winter for stews and things....
There is a thread full of recipes for your slow cooker here. they look yummy... :chef:

Slow Cookers are the best....I'd be lost without mine in winter:thumbsup:
 I have one, though its called a meal maker, same thing still.
Oh YES Razzle - THATS IT! This horrid orange outside and dark brownish ceramic insert - thats what we had!!
Anyway - i found one - i got a sunbeam brand (was $70 if you'd like to know) 5.5 litre - big enough to cook heaps in then freeze leftovers. Good thing i was given a myer gift voucher - it ended up costing me $20 !:yelclap:
Justcooked - thanks, i will have a look.

I saved up for a crock pot all last year - thinking they were about $100!!! I have always wanted one as I like to cook stews in the wintertime.... only to find one in woolworths for $17.99!!! So I quickly took it to the counter and it came up as $39.95! I complained and took it back straight away - as I had not realised the error cos I had bought other items until I had started walking away from the register.
They said that it was meant to be $39.95 and made me show them the sign - which was a big 30cm one! They then said I would get a refund. Cool, I was thinking, a crock pot for only $17.99! But to my surprise they refunded me the whole $39.95!
So I got my slowcooker/crockpot for FREE!!!!
Now I have been really excited about it .... except for the fact that I can't seem to make yummy meals in it! They taste a little bland and watery :( I make them exactly the same on the stove top and they taste great but in the slowcooker they taste mediocre :(
I also find that I either get mushy mushy food or stews that don't seem to blend in well....
Any ideas where I am going wrong?
After telling my sister i bought one on tuesday - she laughed at me and said they got theirs from woolies too! Said it works really well! Oh well - sunbeam should last a while!:D
