I have the phil and ted pram which I intend on using. I think it is alot better than the ones with the little tiny seats that attach onto the front of the seat.
I have a tandem pram, the front seat reclines enough for the toddler to sleep and the back is suitable for new born, lays flat. If your eldest is only going to be 1 when bub is born you may want to consider a side by side pram, but they are hard to get around with re: shopping isles and checkout lanes.
I don't like the idea of the toddler seats that sit on top of the prams cos if your 1yr old wants to sleep they don't recline.
Good luck finding th right one...there is so much to choose from.

DS was 2.5 when DD was born but still needed to lie down for naps so we bought a Valco twin runabout with todder seat for DSS.
Soon DD#2 will arrive with around 10.5 month age gap between the girls so I'm so pleased we bought it.
Its perfect for all combinations... with DD + DS or DS + DSS or DD + DSS... and soon I cant imagine why it would be perfect with my two DD's in there :)
I think with two that close a sidebyside is a must! Its really not that inconvient in shops either you just use a wider aisle to pay for things and depending on the pram you have already, you might be used to that as I already was as my single pram was a Bertini Bidwell. (they make the bidwell in twin too which might be another option if boot space isnt a problem because although they're big and bulky they're fantastic prams!!)
hope that helps a little :)

Just a thought - I have quite a slim 3-wheeler jogger - and I am unable to fit through most checkouts in supermarkets and shopping centres (i can only get through the disabled or special pram aisles).
If you're thinking about buying a side-by-side, you might never be able to go shopping again!
