So, I have been working my 2.5 year old DD up for a few weeks that the dummy fairy will be visiting soon.

She had told me a few weeks ago that the fairy would bring a pink present & that it would be a doll

So this morning she announces that TONIGHT the dummy fairy would come .... OK!

So I ducked to the shops this arv (child free) and purchased a cute little ballerina doll & pink tissue paper to wrap it :bee:

So bed time came... no dummy allowed!! It has taken her juat over an hour of whinging but i think she is asleep!!! Phew...

Here's hoping eh!

Who else has used the dummy fairy? HOw did it go? People say it only takes a couple of unsettled nights, it that true? :o

TIA

Well the 'dummy fairy' took DD1's dummy nearly 2 mths ago. DD1 is 3 in Aug and didn't have much interest in giving up her dummy (she had it for day/night sleeps and the car). She stayed at grandmas one night and was told (by grandma) a dummy fairy took it and she seemed to be okay with it. She asked for it for a few days and it took a while for her to get to sleep. During the day she needed a book with her in bed and during the night she wanted a light on and the door open or for us to lie in bed and soothe her to sleep. It could take 1-2hrs to get her to settle and sleep.
It took a few weeks (sorry not a few nights in our case) and now she has forgotten about her dummy, never asks for it and goes to sleep without much fuss at all (still wants the light on and door open though - seems to be fearful of the dark and monsters, which she never was before with the dummy )

I'm just thankful that DD2 doesn't take a dummy!!
Good luck with your dummy fairy and weaning.

When DS was 3ish he gave my sis his dummy as a birthday pressie - lol and was a bit taken back that she didn't give it back, but there was no problems after that

We used the 'ducks needed his bottles for the baby ducks' ..

He gave his bottle to the ducks after feeding them (i picked it up when he walked away and threw it in the bin ;)) and that was it..

We are on day 7 and only had tears day 2 and 3..

Good luck with it..

I know. I think initially it was a ploy to try to not go to sleep, but it didn't work. :devil6:
