Hi everyone

Well my little girl is now one month old I just thought I would share my birth story with you since I had so many questons and so many fears about labour.

I was due on the 28th April but she just didn't want to come I was induced on the 9th May and was told I was not even engaged yet and that the baby was sitting quite high and not to expecta a vaginal delivery! Wasn't happy - anyway I had gel again later in the afternoon and still nothing. So I was watching Desperate housewives and all of a sudden my waters broke I called the midwife who told me to have a shower which I did and then oh my started having contractions what an interesting pain that is. The mid wife told me to stay in my room until I can't take the pain anymore well five mintues later I buzzed her and demanded she take me to the delivery room.

I had an internal done and was 7cm dialated I was asking for an epidural as soon as I got down there something that I said there was no way I was going to have and the instant relief was amazing!!!! I felt no pain what so ever the mid wife had to wake me to tell me to start pushing. After about 10 mins of pushing my little girl Chayse was born she weighed 7 pound 10.

I had some internal tearing but didn't feel a thing thanks to the epidural. So after all my fears of tearing and the pain I was bale to handle it (sought of) with the help of an epidural.

All up I was in labour for 5 hours from whne my waters broke to when she was born!! :p

My little girl now has got reflux though quite a severe case and I am trying everything that I can to help her. Am off to a specialist next week to see what he says. But if anyone has any tips for me feel free to leave some advice.

Congratulations firsttimemum!!!

It sounds like your birth experience was pretty positive. Pain relief or no pain relief - you did an incredible thing by bringing new life into this world.

My second son was born on May 3rd, so our bubs are very similar in age. My son has been having terrible trouble with tummy and bowel pains and some minor reflux. After seeing a paediatrician today it was confirmed that bub has a lactose intolerance and minor reflux. Anytime he has breastmilk his bowels explode with painful gas and explosive poos but when he is on a lactose free formula he is very settled (except for the gagging from reflux). I have been expressing for a couple of weeks now to keep up milk supply in the hope I could put him back onto breastmilk but have had to admit defeat. There is no point in upsetting bub so much just so I can feel better by breastfeeding him. Anyway - in regards to the reflux have have just started to add a thickening agent to bubs Lactose free formula. I'll let you know how it goes. I have found that making sure bub feeds in a very upright position and stays upright after feeds helps a lot. I also sleep him in a elevated position. His crib has been raised at one end - although I cheat most of the time and sleep him in his electric cradle swing. It is shaped like a car capsule and he loves it.

I hope all works out well in the feeding department. It sounds like you are settling in very well as a new Mum already.
