Hey Guys, really need a vent here! :hissy:


So i have a good mate of mine whose married with 3 beautiful children. Now she is a very stern woman and treats her DH to my view as "Mean", He has done everything for her, Lost weight, gotten less hours at work to look after the kids, activley looking for extra things for the kids to do.... (but im not about to tell her shes wrong, not my place)

They havent been gettin along for quite sometime and i think a divorce is not far off.. The kids are DS18, DS16, and DD13. She asked me one of the most upsetting things the other day :(


" Do you think I could win the custody battle for only emma?, Should I ask the boys if theyd mind?"

I was so hurt!!! I told her no way should she ask them if they minded if she just battled custody for DD, more to the point and how she made it sound, NOT THE BOYS. :(

These kids are great, loving, caring, active, nice kids... I couldnt believe she was going to ask them :no:

All three are of an age where they can make their own decision as to who they live with (and the court will listen to their choice) ... so I don't think it's really going to be an issue.

:iagree: Nic's right - esp in the case of the 18 year old. He's legally an adult so there are no custody issues there at all.

To the best of my knowledge the courts seriously listen to, and take into the consideration, the wishes of the children from about 10 years old, depending on the maturity of the child.

Names have been changed already lol, im a smart cookie.

DD gets what she wants when she wants however she wants with my friend.... the girl is spoilt rotten....

My point of the thread was not "will she get custody" more to vent and say, how could she even contemplate asking the boys to go with their father instead.... whilst fighting for the daughter.... The boys are wonderful loving children i just cant wrap my head around why she would do this?

Sounds a bit selfish. Like she's only thinking of what she wants and not how it will affect the kids.

I dont think its fair that she only wants custody of one child. I also think the boys may find it insulting that she doesnt want care of them as well. I mean they are 18 and 16 so they would be very indepenant.

This and most of the responses were what i was after!! I wanted reasurrance that i wasnt being a *****y friend by thinking it..... :hugs:
