I've had morning sickness with all 3 of my babies (currently in the throes of it with No.3), except it's all-day and night sickness with me.

I started off also with a metallic taste in mouth which didn't help, but since hitting 9 weeks, as with my other pregnancies that taste is now sickly sweet. Everything I eat tastes like it's been doused with sugar.

Has anyone else had this problem?

Ruth, me too. I too have this funny taste in my mouth. Somehow I think that it makes me feel more sick. The strange thing is that I am totally off sweet foods and only like savory (bland at that).

Have you had any aversions?

I might have a look on the net to see what the sweet taste relates to.

Let me know how you get on with it.

Has anything helped you moring sickness?

You're right, the taste in my mouth does make me feel more nauseous than without it.

I've gone off so much, mainly sweet things, although I'm just beginning to retolerate it. Can't take baked beans, ham, any take-away food, curries and milk. I also can't take any soft drinks and find that all I reallt can drink is orange juice, water and dry ginger.

I've found that apricot delights help the taste in my mouth. Also, sucking eucalyptus lollies helps. I discovered a lemon based sorbet smoothie at Boost juice bar which was lovely to suck on and helped to get rid of both nausea and the taste. It was made with lemons, lemon sorbet, ice and orange juice, so perhaps you could try whipping that up at home.

Good luck

How early did you get the metallic taste in your mouth? I've had previously with my DS, but in the throws of ttc #2. I have the metallic taste again, but dont know if my mind is playing tricks with me!

I got it at about 6 weeks. All 3 times I got the nausea first and then the metallic/sweet taste happened about 2 weeks later.

I have found a solution to the sweet taste - eat something sweet (I call it fighting like with like).

Good luck

I thought I was the only one. This is my third pregnancy but the first sweet taste one. I was just about to call my doctor but I didn't want to bother him if it was just a weird pregnancy thing. Even water tastes syrupy, kind of but more sharp or bitter. Does that sound right?

Tell me it gets better. This is the worse morning sickness I have ever had.
