Hi, I am Currently Co-Sleeping with my 8 Mnth DD, She has always slept with us not by choice but so I can get some sleep . My DH works away 2 wks on 1 week off, it would be nice to have our bed to ourselves again when he is home, she also wakes up 3-4 times a night for a BF/Comfort but sometimes just wants a cuddle and goes back off. I suppose I would like to Know if anyone else has tried a mattress on the floor beside their bed?, she flatley refuses the cot. The other option is putting her on the spare bed mattress & me going in when she needs a feed. The other reason for wanting mattress on the floor is she has fallen off the bed during Day Naps too many times & this is very Dangerous. Any Suggestions Please????

He was 8 months when we did this but this was our reality for about 6 months before we moved house. and this was only about 5 months ago. He just flatly refused to sleep in his bed or in any of the other beds in the house and he's just too big (well its me thats too big really) for it to be comfortable with him in the bed too. It worked for us and I don't see a problem with it even if it is a solution for an 8 month old.

Just wondering if you've tried getting her off to sleep then popping her in her cot? My sister had to do this with my nephew for a while because he didn't like GOING to sleep in the cot but was happy to wake up in it.

Would she be likely to crawl or roll off during the night???

Could you put all the mattresses on the floor so you have extra room, but she still has a'big' space to move around in?

I'm not sure.... Maybe you could get some of those guard rail things to put on the bed so she doesn't fall off during naps. They were great when my boys moved to toddler beds. ... but not stable enough for bubs to pull herself up on.. so they'd most likely tumble...

I don't know!!

Good luck with trying to find a solution though.

:iagree: Great idea.

From personal experience, going in and leaving them once they're asleep just causes more problems...

Just pick your best option and stick it out.

I tried the cot mattress on the floor in my room today, I put her to sleep in my arms first then laid her down on it, she slept there no worries. so its a good start... will let you know how it goes,

her sleeps got shorter and shorter, so she is back in my bed.. Its ok at night, but its getting worse during the day, if I put her in her cot she just doesn't go to sleep and if I was to leave her there I would be home all day, so I just give in and pat her off which is taking forever at the moment. Is this just a phase??? I hope so, its hard with DH FIFO, doing this all on my own, I have left a msg with Ngala, but they will probably advise me to do cc, which tears my heart out... I feel lilke im at my wits end, because the only break I get is when shes asleep, and when she doesnt sleep I dont get a break :ecomcity:.

Have you tried taking one side of the cot off and pushing it up against your bed? Like a side car. That way she can't roll out but it will give you extra room and you can reach over and give her a cuddle is she needs it.

I've never tried this, but alot of people have had success doing it.
