The birth of Natasha Edith.

I had been meaning to write this for the last 2 weeks, so here it is!

It was Friday 16th May, 2 days past my due date, i was sitting in the car around 8pm, waiting for my hubby to bring our dinner, which was pizza, and i had a pain and got out of the car, then suddenly i had to be sick, which was normal for me cause sometimes if i didnt eat i would be sick.
The day before i had been having my show come and i knew labour was only about 2 days away, it was the same with my son. But i thought nothing of the pain till after i got home to eat my dinner and they kept coming but i didnt time them. when i decided to go to bed they kept coming so i started to time them, they were around 10 mins apart for a little while then suddenly they went to 30mins then 25,then29 and 30 again for a while, so i was thinking that it was just all prelabour again, like i had with my son for 2 days, and that i would be able to sleep in the morning when they almost go. Boy was i wrong! I went to the toilet cause i wasnt feeling well and i was sick and also i noticed i had bloody show. At around 1am they went back to 10mins for alittle while then, 9,8,7,6,5 over about 4 hours just sitting on the edge of the bed with my back straight as that seemed the most comfortable position at that time and breathing through the contractions. At 4.30am i decided to wake my hubby and tell him that i am in labour and said that the contractions were 5-6 mins apart. He told me to call the hospital. I called them in between a contraction and i had a couple while on the phone, they were kinda sure i was in labour and when i told them that i had a quick labour last time they said i had better come in and that i was going to have the baby today.
I called my mum and told her to come and get my son Dylan. when she got to my place, i had to show her where dylans stuff was and get a bottle ready for him cause he woke up from us getting ready and i didnt have time to put him back to sleep. Then we left for the hospital which is only 15mins away.
We got to the hospital and went up to the birth suites and rang the bell, and the midwife i spoke to anwered the door and showed me in and took me to my room, which was the really nice room, (i was supposed to have it with the birth of my son but someone else was in there and had to go into a clinical room.)
The midwife checked me over and said that my blood pressure was a little high, and then tried the other arm and still the same.
The contractions were still about 5 mins apart and i was sitting on the edge of the bed breathing through the contractions again and occasionally waking around trying to get comfortable. After a while i took off my jeans as they were annoying me. the midwife came in and was telling me to beathe through the contractions with her as i was losing my focus on it cause the pain was starting to get to me. my hubby had gone down stairs to move the car and then i started to cry cause i just couldnt cope with it anymore. My hubby came back and took over from the midwife to help me to breathe and he was massaging my back and keeping track of how often the contractions were coming. the midwife again checked my blood pressure and still a little high.
I decided to jump into the shower, and i was sitting there with the water massaging my front, then to my back evrytime i had a contraction, i sat there for 30 mins then i got out and put on a gown and again sat on the bed with my hubby massaging my back. The midwife came in at 9 and said that she will check my cervix to see how dialated i was and said she would be back at 9.30am. When she was gone i was talking to my hubby about getting an epidural. when she came back she asked how i was doing and said that i wanted an epidural. She said that i would have to be transfered to get one and i said that that was fine. She then checked my blood pressure again and it was fine now then she checked my cervix and said that i was about 7/8 cms. I still said that i want the epi and she said that they will run the bath and give me some gas for an hour then they will transfer me. While they went to run the bath i hoped back into the shower for a while with hbby holding the nozzel on my back.
they took me to the other room where the bath was and i got in, it helped ease the pain for only the first contraction, then it was back to being very painful. contractions were about 5 mins apart. Before i went in the bath they were 3 mins apart. She then gave me the gas and told me to try it for 15 mins. after the first suck on the gas i felt light headed and dizzy. i threw the gas away after the third time. I started to plead with the midwife for an epidural and she went to call them and ask if there was any room, she took a while to come back and didnt say anything about it. Then i asked her to check to see if i was fully dialated cause i had a few pushy contractions, she said that i wouldnt be yet as she had just checked me over half an hour ago. so i kept labouring away in the water and i was having the urge to push still, so i started to push to see if i could feel the baby coming and i could. The midwife could see that i was pushing and she decided to get a mirror to see if she could see the head. I had kept pushing and i felt the head come out and i kept going to get the body out too, the midwife didnt get to see much cause i had already pushed her out before she could see anything! She was shocked that i had already given birth. I looked into the water and saw some little legs floating between my legs and i pulled her up and they noticed that the umbilical cord was around her neck so they quickly removed it. and i held her against me for our first cuddle. I asked the midwife what time she was born. she said 11am. i laughed! even thou i was still in pain. I had a 2nd degree tear and also a primary post partum heammorage.
My little angel came into the world on the 17th may at 11am. weight: 3.130kgs head:34cms length:50cm
I couldnt be happier!
