Hi All, Myself and my husband and 2 small children and bump are moving to Perth in Nov. I am due baby in Feb. How do I go about registering with a gp in Perth so as to register with a gyn/ob and maternity hospital in Perth to have this baba?? Should I just ring hospitals in Perth and see what they say? I was on net looking at SJOG in Subi, it looks to have good set re maternity..

where in perth are you moving? the main maternity hospital is king edward in subiaco but you only really need them if you have problems or a history of problems. you dont need to see a gp to be referred to an ob if you know what suburb your in you could ring the local hospital and they may suggest a local ob. some hospitals have antenatal clinics that are run by midwives these are usually very good

I am seeing Dr Pennell privetly. He is an OBE that works at King Edward with High Risk patience. He is wonderful and has a great bedside manner. He is also the top of his field. I saw him publically with my daughter and didn't want to risk getting another Dr with this baby so I have been seeing him since I was 12 weeks. I am having problems with this pregnancy and will have another prem baby. But i'm with him and trust him 100% After all I wouldn't be here and niether would Chloe if it wasn't for him.
PM if you want his contact details

Hi Girls,
Thank you very much for your help. I literally have been on internet and ph for the last 2 days making enquiries. Finally I have decided to go to Mercy Hospital in Mount Lawley and booked in to attend Dr Ann Yoong. I am relaxed now that I have that out of the way and can more or less enjoy making the big move form Ireland to Perth in October and know that I'll be cared for well and baby no 3 when it arrives in Feb!..

Hi justmum, do they take the babies at night for you in mercy? I'm hoping they do, i'm going to take advantage of all the rest time I can get!!
When this bab arrives my ds will 3.5 and my dd will be 11 months old!
Did you have a good labour at mercy? Will they give you your epidural when you want it?
I had my ds and dd in Mount Carmel, Dublin and had brilliant labours, nearly no pain at all, got my epi just before the strong pains started so had a little sleep then until it was near time to push!

Hi lilmamii, some middies do take bubs overnight for you, some don't. The older ones will, the younger ones won't (generally).

I had a fabulous labour with DS but as for the epi, no - I was told if you think you're going to want one have it now or the anaesthetist won't be back for 3 hours  So I had one when I didn't need it yet.

However I can't fault the anaesthetist - he went in first time, no mucking about, no pain, no after effects, he was great.
