Hi all.

A good friend of mine and her partner have been ttc for a couple of years now. They finally went to see obgynae a few months ago and had all the tests done. Her husbands sperm analysis has come back, and it is very low.

They have been told to do IVF, but are just wanting to know if there is anyway to increase sperm mobility?

I myself don't know too much about the male side of things, but thought I would check is some ladies here could give some advice on what to do. ie avoid certain foods? alcohol etc

Menevit - new vitamin supplment for blokes has just come out. Also, good weight, less alcohol, no smoking and good general fitness all helps

Tell them to get another test done and but differ the abstinance....(sp) my dh has very very low sperm when he abstains for 2 days but when he abstains for 3 days he has HEAPS of sperm!!!! :D
Alcohol and highly fatty foods are a :shame:. tell her to get him to reduce the heat in the shower and not to wear tight undies..... :ecomcity:

There is a product on the market called menavit. It is apparently very good. You get it at the chemist.

good luck to your friend!!!! :hugs:

Sorry Mariposa my mistake....it turns out his sperm had no tails(could not swim) so they ended up doing Artificial insemination.

You could try Zinc & CoQ10 (sperm takes 90 days to regenerate, so don't rush things). Cut back on caffeine & soft drinks. And as a PP has said, get a second SA. It is possible for them to vary.

My DH was taking a zinc and vit c combination, but it turns out that he had zero sperm supply so we ended up using a sperm donor.

I recently took Maca Root tablets to make me more fertile and they can be taken by males too. So that's something else they could look into?

my gyno said for certain male problems cant remember if it was low sperm or bad motility that they can put men on clomid, dp takes fore life pre conception care for men and he had a fantastic SA also just not smoking and less intake of alcohol as mentioned.
good luck to your friends hope they get their bfp soon.

thanks ladies.

They are non-smokers, and not very big drinkers at all. Her DH will only have up to 4 beers on the weekend, but I am pretty sure that even now he has cut that out totally.
