HI, I have a HECS debt and was wondering if this will affect by centrelink payments at tax time.
I work part time, and we decided instead of getting a small payment evey fortnight, we would get a larger payment at tax time, but am concerned that it will all go to my HECS debt.
I am under the threshold this year of having to pay back any of my HECS debt.
Any help would be great! Thanks
Jen

It shouldn't, especially if you are under the threshold... however can't be sure.

No you dont have to worry. Its only if you have earnt above $39500 for the financial year that you will have to repay part of your HECS debt. Your payment from centrelink will NOT be used to repay your HECS.
