hi there
my son is 16 months old & i feed him to sleep - at night & day sleeps
i started off demand feeding him which wasnt a problem at first but the past few days ive been a bit down thinking if this is how it will always be! he still feeds quite a bit during the day & night aswell.. im not one to control cry as i hate it when hes upset & i dont feel as though he is ready to be weaned just yet..
Has anyone ever been in the same situation as me?
thanks in advance :)
hi, i'm the same with my 10 month old...wondering whether i am doing the right thing because so many books tell you that you need to 'teach' your baby to self settle. what will happen when i take his boobs away?
on the other hand it seems the most natural thing to do and he LOVES it, it always calms him, he's so easy to move to his cot when he's asleep and i keep thinking if i wasn't supposed to do it, why would there be a component in breastmilk that makes babies sleepy?! :)

Hi there,
I also have a BF 16 month old and I still feed him to sleep. I have times when I am over it, but that's more likely if I'm a bit sleep deprived and grumpy. But most of the time I remind myself that he'll be all grown up before I know it so I cherish the special time we have together as he peacefully and beautifully falls asleep whilst feeding. Imagine how wonderful it is for them to go to sleep feeling so happy and loved :goodvibes:
Yep - I still feed my 22 month old to sleep. In the last few weeks, though, he's been fed and still been awake so I just put him into his cot. He will chatter to me a bit and I either shush him or don't respond at all and he drifts off to sleep by himself. There was no need for any controlled crying at all. He's calm, content and happy as he drifts off.
He also happily drifts off to sleep in his dad's arms or pulls some cushions off the couch and curls up on those if I'm not around for whatever reason.
They'll figure it all out by themselves soon enough :)

I feed my 14 month old to sleep. I have learn't to ignore the books as apparently I am doing lots wrong (demand feeding, co sleeping etc) but it works for us.
