Just wondering if you think it is bad to book into 2 different birth centres until you feel you've made up your mind.
I am wanting to book into RPA birth centre, but also my freind is a middy at RNS and she swears by it.
RNS is in my direct area, do they have to take me if I pulled out of RPA birth centre??
Do you think I should book into both or is that bad??

I was booked at 2 diff hospitals, but in different towns. Im not sure how it works if they are both in the same town/city? I think the sooner you book the better i heard sydney fills up fast. Can you do tours of both and see which is better?

Wellllll...I live in the RPA 'zone' and birthed my son there. Having done my antenatal care through the RPA Birth Centre, I can tell you that it's hugely busy with limited places, and books out really early, and I know of several women in my Mother's Group and antenatal classes who really wanted to book in to birth there, but missed out because it was already full. They're also strict with meeting the local zone requirements.
So re: double booking, my 2 cents worth would be, if you already know you're not 100% set on birthing there and will possibly (probably?) pull out, do you think it's fair to other women who might have their heart set on RPA but could miss out if you take a Birth Centre place you don't know if you'll use...?
If you're unsure, I'd suggest you check out both centres and make up your mind first before double booking, that way you're also giving your fellow women a chance, IYKWIM

Well case closed in the end...
RPA was my prefered place, but I called them and I am apparently out of zone (because I live on the north side of the bridge)...even though its only 15 mins drive.
Oh well...At least it made my dilemma easier, although i had decided I wanted to go there...
Oh well...
I will call up RNS and see if they do water birth regularly, and I might look into Ryde midwife group if not...
Anyway, either way I'm sure things will pan out!
Thanks for your input!

I recommend Ryde. In fact, can't think of a better place to birth.
The middies are awesome and the experience was fantastic.
Wouldn't refer anyone to RNS - been there too!
