I need to use up some apples, but can't be bothered to make a pie. does anyone have any EASY recipes without too many ingredients. I don't have any nuts , but I have:
sultanas
dates
SR flour
flour
butter
golden syrup
But no sour cream, jam or cream cheese etc.. (just to eliminate those types of recipes)..
thanks heaps
What about a crumble?
Chop up the apples, (you can peel them if you prefer) put them in a baking dish and spinkle some sugar over them.
For the topping use 2 cups of plain flour, and some cubed cool butter and some sugar and squish together wish fingertips until it's combined and a crumbly texture.
Pour over the top of the apples and bake for about half an hour.
If you are keen I can check the quantities for you.

I would suggest a crumble too, it's the easiest. You could make a pie too if you're decent at pastry.
Or if you have puff pastry in the freezer you could make apple turnovers very quickly: cut pastry sheet into 4 squares, tablespoon or a bit more of diced apples in the middle, fold in half (triangle shape), seal edges with a bit of water, place on baking paper on a baking sheet, cut a few vent holes in the top of each, sprinkle with white sugar, and bake at the temp on the puff pastry package till golden (around 10-15 min).

Apple cake:
any plain cake recipe will do, even a packet. Make to instructions adding 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon to the batter. Then peel and core 2-3 apples slice or cube and arrange over the batter, sprinkle with a little cinnamon and sugar.
My kids love this with custard or for a treat at school:)
i think a crumble is the easiest!!!! and it tastes so nice too!!!

Toffee Apples
250g Butter
1 cup sugar
3 tablespoons water
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon vanilla
Push a wooden skewer into the centre of the apples.
Place toffee ingredients into a pot and heat until sugar is dissolved, stir occassionally. Bring to the boil.
Boil rapidly without stirring until toffee reaches 145 'C or until a teaspoon of mixture when drops into cold water seperates into threads that are hard but not brittle.
Carefully dip apples in toffee, one at a time. Cover apples completely. Plunge into ced water for 5 seconds. Stand on a well oiled grease proof paper.
OR APPLE FRITTERS....
Or APPLE BAGS
800g Pie aples (stew your own apples)
2 teaspoons grated lemon rind
1 tablespoon castor sugar
1 teaspoon cinnamon
1/2 cup chopped raisins
12 filo sheets
Combine apples, lemon, sugar, cinnamon & raisins in a bowl.
Stack 3 sheets of filo, brush with butter between each layer. Cut in half to make 2 squares. Brush one square with butter, top with other square.
Place a quater of apple mix in centre of square, bring edges up to form a bag.
Place on a lightly greased oven tray. Brush with butter. Repeat to make 4 bags. Bake at 180'C for 45 minutes or until golden.
Apple Pie.
Make some pastry, finely slice the apples, sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar, raisins/sultanas, bake in the oven.
Baked Apples
Core the Apples, stuff with brown sugar and sultanas, bake in the oven until soft.... Yummy served as a dessert or with a roast pork.

Pre-heat oven to 200°C. Use oil spray to grease muffin tin. In a medium bowl mix Flour, Icing Sugar, Almond Meal and Cinnamon. Add Milk, Oil, Apple and Blueberries and lightly mix.

This recipe makes about 12 muffins. These are fantastic for freezing because they only last a couple of days unfrozen.
