Hi
I am currently 22 weeks pregnant with baby number 2 and have a failing placenta. Baby has IUGR (Inter uterine growth restriction) and will be born between 24 and 30 weeks at KEMH.
I have a 2 year old who was also born early at 31 weeks with the same condition weighing 2 pound.
I live in remote WA which means from next week I have to move to Perth away from my Husband and friends until the baby is ready to come home.
Is there anyone else due in October who is having a prem ??

I'm 20 weeks with number one, due in October, and could possibly end up having a prem. I have been diagnosed with an incompetent cervix, and if my cervix continues to shorten (it is currently 2.5 cm long) then I could go into prem. labour- I have a stitch in place in my cervix but it is not guaranteed to be 100% effective.
I am thinking positively, and hopefully I will carry to term, but the women on here are great, and are always here to listen!

Hi Chloesma,
:hugs: for you and bub. I certainly hope not to have a prem, and I'm sure most would hope not to either. Sorry, I really don't know what you're going through, but please join in the DIO thread and feel free to vent anytime you need!

Hi Chloesma
Welcome to the October area! It would be great if you joined our thread as a regular! I am expecting to go a little early as I am carrying twins - but in saying that, I have no indicators so far that it will be as early as what you are talking about - that must be full on.
The multiple births association info I got last night has an info sheet on things to do/remember/pack for the neo-natal nursery and it also recommends having the hospital bag packed from 30 weeks. That was all a bit of a rude shock to me as I've been assuming that I'll make it to at least 32 weeks (after 32 weeks I can go to my chosen hospital - but before 32 weeks I have to go to the Mater Mothers - it has all the prem facilities)
It must be pretty awful to be away from your support network for so long prior to the birth - I'm sure that the premmie association etc. can organise for you to get some visitors who've been through it before and can keep you company or offer support. I know most hospitals also have counsellors available.
You probably already know all of this having been there at 31 weeks before. But I am thinking of you - and you'll find great company from all the ladies in this months thread. We are all so different, but clearly share many of same ideas, feelings and fears.
:hugs:

I'm due in October and a NICU nurse, so I fret about having a prem, but so far so good. It sounds like you have very good management already. Are you taking your two year old with you?
My top tip is that the UK charity bliss has some fantastic resources for parents. Their booklets are very helpful. http://www.bliss.org.uk/
"Look at me - I'm talking to you' is my favorite.
Good luck with the bed rest. I think there is some evidence that taking extra folic can keep your placenta healthier longer, but I'm sure your docs will already have you on everything. I hope you have a little fighter. :hugs:

I had a little boy on 23/7/08 at 27 weeks weighing a tiny 535 grams or 1 pound 3 oz. After spending 4 weeks in hospital and having daily scans we managed to get to 27 weeks.

:flowerz:Congratulations on the safe arrival of your precious little boy!!!:flowerz:
What is his name?
How much longer does he have to stay in hospital for? Hope everything is all well and healthy for you both.
xoxo
