Hi there,
I know I'm not a dad (lol) but just wanted to say that my DH was a bit funny with touching my belly when I was pregnant with DD too. He said that it felt weird to feel something that he couldn't see iykwim. He was however fantastic at the birth and ever since. He was much better with the whole baby thing once she was here in person! I think it is more real for us as it is happening inside our bodies whereas for them thay are a bit removed from it until they have a bub to hold!:yelclap:
Oh and my DH is Navy so he is often away and although it is hard for all of us they have a great bond I just try to let them have some one on one time when he is home (after she is used to him again which can take a little while). My folks got Dh a little album (it is about wallet sized) to pop picture in so he has us with him all the time!

Hi Jess,
I can't offer that much advise about the touching of the belly, as I love to touch kat's belly and she is normally the one to want me to stop :D
But I also call the baby an octopus :laughing: so I wouldnt worry about that to much
Hopefully everything turns around and he enjoys it as it only happens for the first time once
Cheers,

he is a bit weirded out by the baby moving but he still touches my belly so maybe thats what it is foryour dp.
btw you stole my name hehe
im sure its nothing and he is just getting used to the idea of being a first time daddy. give him some time and im sure he will dote on her once she is here.
good luck:D

Well I called our first child Magot Head when in the womb.. THere is a funny story behind it, but I think most dads give the little ones a nick name well before they pop into the world
James
I wouldnt really worry too much. Just like the other Dads here, I also had a few names for our son (fatso, piglet, alien, jelly bean, buddha).
As for not touching your stomach... it can be really weird for a Dad, because you don't have the same bonding experience as the Mum does. I know for me, it was really only when Aidan (my son) was born that I was able to feel really close to him.
Of course he's scared... having a baby is a huge thing, and can be really difficult. There's a whole heap of pressure on him now that wasn't there before. Everything changes....
I'm assuming that you've had your girl now? Congrats.
