Has anyone had any experiences with this model carseat. We got one from my sister for our boy who is 22 months, as the new baby is getting his. Whilst cleaning it up when we put it back together we noticed that the buckles at the back can actually come through the seat. Has anyone else ever had or heard of this?

Thanks

That doesn't sound right to me. Admitedly, I don't know that particular model, but if they can come through what is holding the baby in????? Are you sure you have put it back together properly? Do you mean the shoulder part of the strap? Because on mine you have to bring them through and loop them on to something near the bottom(sorry very hard to explain!!). Do you have the instructions? I'd be inclined to give safe and sound a call on Tuesday and ask about it, just to be sure!

hmm either that or you can give the ambos a call... if you make an appointment they will check the seat over... double check the straps are in good nick.. and in the right position AND install the seat for you..

in QLD I got all that done for free... (three times actually... once with each seat :D)

hmmmm...I think that model of seat is quite an old one. Just check to make sure it is not over 10 years old (there should be a sticker on the seat telling you the year it was made.) As it is not recomended to use car seats that are over 10 years old.

Could it have something to do with it being a Convertible child restraint?

I have that exact model (SnS Jupiter Ultra -retractor not manual). Now I'm not exactly sure what you are talking about. So I'll go over how mine works.

The harness part anchors across the child's lap into the bottom of the seat on the outside of the their hips. The buckle parts meet in the middle of the child's lap where they click into the crotch buckle.
Then the straps go up to the top of the seat and through the slots at the child's shoulder height. At the back of the seat the two shoulder straps meet part way down where they are sewn together to make one strap which continues under the seat into the retractor box.

There should be no loose straps.

The only parts which can come out are the parts that anchor either side of the child's bottom (these come out for cleaning and rethreading the straps onto higher shoulder slots).

My seat is 8 years old and was a brand new model when it was purchased.

Feel free to ask any more questions if my explaination doesn't help
