You can get a cream from the chemist I can't remember what its called but its a pharmacy only medication. Ask the chemist and they should be able to tell you. I used it with my daughter and it cleaned it up in no time. Sorry I cant think of the name
Pawpaw Ointment is great for nappy rash. It is very gentle and is fast healing. Swear by for any skin condition. You can buy it at the chemist or sometimes it is sold in the health food section of the supermarket.

Hi, I had the same problem with my son only last week, it was so red and even bleeding too.
I used Daktozin and then Bepanthen on top of that. The nappy rash cleared up after two days.
Hope this helps. ;)

is the best as it has no chemical whatsoever. You could also use wet face washers for the time being until the poor skin's healing...
After that go paw paw! :D

ouch, the poor little darling, and poor mum!! As well as the creams suggested, I always give my baby lots of nappy-free time if it looks like a rash is coming. Those disposable change mats or an old nappy are great to lie her on - she loves it too, and has a really good kick and squirm!!
when my 2yr old was teething she had the same a friend told me to try clonea. you can get it from the chemist , it cleared it up straight away just dont use to much butit donr the job.

My 4 week old has nappy rash too and we've found that "Nappy Mate" is good for it.....you just get it from the Chemist. we tried Curash and stuff and it didnt work. Also instead of using huggies wiped we as just using cotton wool and warm water to clean her...as the wipes have chemicals and soaps that can tend to make it worse, well so we found anyway.

when my little guy had a raw bottom in hospital they tried some zinc and sorbolene cream but it did nothing so i brought my own (which i knew worked from previous exprerience) it is called Desitin you can buy it from the chemist, it is a type of zinc cream but i found it the best. Luke was really red and was bleeding a bit also and it had him cleared up in a matter of days. I also found after it cleared to keep up a barrier cream like bepanthem (sp?) or amolin helped especially if they like to poo alot.
Hope this helps. Good luck

My baby poos about 10 times a day - we've been fighting nappy rash since she was born almost three months ago, and have tried lots of things. Desitin zinc cream from the chemist has been most successful for us in preventing/treating (with regular airing).
Re: cleaning up - we started off with cotton face washers which aggravated the rash, we moved to baby wipes, which also aggravated the rash, tried cotton wool, which due to small size of pads resulted in poo going everywhere (perhaps my inexperience coming through here). I have found Symphony paper towels (which come in a large tissue box in paper towel section of supermarket, but are much softer then normal paper towels) dipped in warm water work well and are much cheaper than baby wipes ($2 - 3 for a box of 120).

Hi,
Just a suggestion as we've been lucky enough to not have had nappy rash yet, but has anyone tried Sorbolene Baby Wipes by Redwin? Thats what we use as they are Alcohol Free and for sensitive skin and contain Sorbolene Cream. I just happened to find them at Coles Supermarket and they seem to be working well.

I've been a child care worker for about eight years and when ever a parent forgot their child's cream we would use an egg white. Just line the nappy with egg white and change it every two hrs or so. When children are teething their wees become very acidic so changing them often will help.
I use bepanthem(sp) and it works fine on Mitch's bottom.
I hope you can find something that works. It's amazing how each child is different.
Thanks Kylie

I make my own wipes similar to Shakespear excpet that I make a batch at a time using paper towel (Jeeves), water and olive oil. My DS who is nearly 16months hardly every suffers nappy rash and when she does it only lasts about a day and I put this down to the wipes I use, not only that they work out sooooo much cheaper.

Hi,
I had a similar problem with my little one (6 months). He poos at every nappy change and I think he may be teething - his bottom was very red and was getting very sore. We are only using water and cotton wool to clean him up and have tried quite a few creams - bepanthan, sudocrem and the Gaia range, but nothing was working. I checked out this thread yesterday and tried Desitin last night and this morning it looks 100% better!! Desitin worked for Ben's bum and I couldn't be happier! Who would've thought that having a rash free bum could bring so much happiness to the Mum :)
Good luck to all the other Mum's out there battling nappy rash.

We have started avoiding store bought baby wipes for at home. Now use wet (hypoalergic) tissue for wees and wet tissue with sorbolene when more untidy down there. Also Simmons Paw Paw Salve, which can be bought at Alfalfa House in Enmore Road if in Sydney or online at Healthy Habitat (http://www.healthyhabitat.com.au/store/comersus_viewItem.asp?idProduct=280)
One nice clear bummed DD over here.
Renee.
the best thing for nappy rash is cure rash powder,

My DD had a shocking nappy rash about a month ago - was fine at one nappy change, then red raw the next! I was totally amazed how quickly and how badly it came up. Whenever I came near her with a baby wipe she would tense up and start crying, poor little thing. As shes crawling everywhere, nappy free time is a bit of a night mare, especially when she was also doing a lot of poos too. I decided to give her a bath during the day to give her a really good clean. Then I used sudocream which took a while in this case (normally if she starts to get a bit red I use it and it clears up straight away!) and a cornstarch powder. I mentioned it to the clinic nurses and they said that sometimes you might have to give them 3 or 4 baths a day and to use "flannels" (I'm assuming washers) wet with warm water, instead of commercial wipes.
Hope this helps your little ones bottom!!!
Good luck with it.
