Hi i just sold my old stroller as i was getting a new one.
Im looking into getting the steelcraft 4wheel strider or the chilcare Hola. I want a pram thats a good all round at a good price.I went through 3 different prams with DD and in the end none were the right ones. I never pay full price for anything i always buy on special.
So what prams/ stroller do you reccomend? What have you got, or what are you getting?

hi B&B
We have chosen the Beema q in Nero (green piping).
my Father in Law actually laybuyd this for us the other day and he got the pram, bassinett and ALL accessories (minus rain cover) for $460! not sure what your budget is but i had only ever seen them new without the bassinett and access. for about $600...
So i think he got a pretty good deal indeed.
he is in Sydney and can give u the name of the store if your interested :)
We chose the beema because A) we arnt planning on having our kids that close together in age so we wont need a toddler seat etc and B) is one of the lightest of the 3 wheelers and C) i love the look of it ;)
hi bec&bel,
im not due i 09... already had my bubz... lol...
but my sister bought my dds pram ...its childcare disovery four wheeler.
i think its great! ... we got it on clearance... there was nothing wrong with it... it was just seasons stock... we only paid $50 for it!!!
this was at Target... so if your looking for a good pram thats not too expensive... and suggest having a look at shops like target, kmart, big w when they're having clearances on!!!
if you dont me suggesting...
good luck though!!!

I've got my Britax pram that I bought a few years ago for my son which I'll use for the new baby. It was a travel system so the car seat fitted into as well. However, as it's a UK car seat I won't be able to use it here.
Wish I had spent more on a decent fold-up, fully reclining, ergonomic, lightweight stroller as I found this was used a lot more than the pram after the baby was able to sit up (6mnths plus). I'ld like one that's easy to pull out of the car that folds out easily. My friend had a good Maclaren one. I must do some research. I've just done a quick search and the Maclaren Techno XT looks like the kind I will probably go for.

Hi girls sorry to crash your thread but I just wanted to let you know that I have the phil & teds and I just love it !!!! It is a fantastic pram and my 2 girls love it too. I started off with one then I brought the phil & teds side by side twin as my girls were 13 mths apart and now I have sold them both and have just brought a new phil & teds for this bubba with the toddler seat just incase on of the girls doesn't want to walk.
Highly recommend them :babydust2::yes::babydust2:
Good luck on your journey :flowerz:

I have 4 prams:eek:lol
I have a double stroller & a single one, and I have a double 3 wheller & a single one.
I found the 3 whellers to big and heavy for getting in and out of the car so I have the stroller for the car and 3 whellers for walking.
Mine are all steelcraft.
Buying a pram is the hardest thing of all to buy so many choices.
I've looked at the Beema Q and also the Valco Rebel.. both 3 wheel ones with bassinette options.. i dont need any toddler seat or anything like that as DD is 6 lol
the Beema Q im not sure if i like the way it looks with the bassinette in and im not sure i like the way you cant change the actually seat part around to face you when your walking.. which the Rebel does..(im a control freak.. have to be able to see bub at all times )
But the Rebel is heavier and possibly a bit wider than the Beema Q..
havent made up my mind yet... with DD i had about 4 diffrent prams lol i had 2 diffrent Emmaljunga's(wanted the second one cos i saw a colour/pattern i liked better .. then a Bertini steerable.. then a maclaren stroller.. im so picky hopefully i can find something this time that ill stay happy with..hehe:goodvibes:

I've got my Britax pram that I bought a few years ago for my son which I'll use for the new baby. It was a travel system so the car seat fitted into as well. However, as it's a UK car seat I won't be able to use it here.
Britax & Safe n Sound are the same thing. A friend of mine from the UK was told she couldn't bring her Britax over...then saw the one we had & it was the exact same seat! She was furious. Unless it has a feature that doesn't specifically meet the Aus codes for car seats, I'm pretty sure the Britax are fine as they meet the Aus/NZ safety codes? They're just sold under a different brand name here. Might be worth looking into if you still have the seat.
We have a Swallow pram & a cheapy umbrella stroller. I brought my daughter's pram (a Mothercare one) over from NZ but it got damaged in transit (grrrr). When we were looking for prams, I had several criteria that I insisted on - 4 wheels (I hate 3 wheelers) & a movable handle so you can change the direction the pram is facing (very handy for keeping bubs from facing into the sun). Because so many prams these days are 3 wheelers (& they have fixed handles), it literally narrowed the choice down to 2 prams where we were looking...& the other one was far too expensive. The Swallow also came with loads of features & accessories that I really liked (eg the built in fly screen that just folds up into the hood - so handy!).
We got an umbrella stroller to take to NZ with us & have ended up using it quite a lot now that Wee Man is older - takes up less space in the boot.
I'm not sure what we're going to do when the next one arrives. We'll deal with it when we need to.

I have a mountain buggy and I love it. We will be getting a kiddy board (which have just started being distributed again in australia - YAY), which is like a skate board that hangs off the back (for DS who will be 2 to ride on).
Initially I will probably carry bub in my hug-a-bub (sling) and DS in Mountain Buggy.
Also have a Maclaren for whizzing around the shops, but doesn't fully recline, so no good until 3 months +

One of my GFs has the Maclaren Tecno - you can use this model from birth and it's an excellent stroller  I wish I had bought it for DS now as I ended up with a Mountain Buggy which is great but I got sick of putting into the car and ended up buying a cheapies toys r us stroller.
I really, really want a phil & ted pram!! I always wanted one of them:)
We just bought the Sport and it's great. DS' nanny has a 1 yo too so she uses it to take both kiddies to the park when she's here on a Monday.

We've loved out MB too but it's to heavy for the car - I got sick of it. So I've been using it as our around the neighbourhood pram (I usually walk every day). But I am selling that now because I bought the Phil & Ted. I'm sad because as heavy as it has been, it's been an awesome pram and really evokes memories of DS as a very tiny baby.

Thanks. Yes, I was lucky that DS was ready for a booster seat when we got here and as I like Britax/Safe n Sound I went for the Pegasus as it's got the submarine clip.
I think the main difference with the first car seat is that mine works using the seat belt only. You don't use the central locking bolt to secure it. Personally, I think it's just as safe. However, I ascertained that it's mostly bureaucracy as I emailed Britax and pointed out that many of the models for sale in both countries looked the same. The only difference would be the safety approved sticker and perhaps the product name. I can't even remember what they said in reply but they really avoided answering my questions.
Plus, the insurance companies don't want to make it complicated for themselves and just say it's got to have the correct Australian safety standard sticker to be recognised as safe. I can imagine they would use it to get out of paying up for a claim if they could.
Makes you laugh really in this day and age as so many people are moving around the world a lot more. Why can't these international companies work out a way of helping people but then again it probably means more sales for them.
Well, that's me off my soap box :D

Hi Im not due in Jan but I just wanted to let you know the difference is not just the name and sticker. UK carseats have only 3 point harnesses whereas we have 5. Much safer and a minimun requirement for use here. Every seat in aus is legally required to have a top tether, which the UK and US etc seats dont have. You will prob find if you get a safe and sound unity it will fit in the britax stroller you have  its so annoying that they cant make the safety standards worldwide, then people could use seats from anywhere wherever they go.

Thanks. I think that's what I end up doing for the 1st seat. The booster I've got for DS in Australia is just the same as the UK one. I think it's the new baby seats that are the main issue as you say due to the 5 point harness, central bolt system etc. Just wish they could make them as safe as possible and universal.

We have 3 prams, one of them is a 3 wheeler with a toddler seat which I will use when out by myself. We also have a steelcraft profile stroller which is light weight and lives in the boot of the car, very handy for shopping etc.
Our main pram is the steelcraft strider4, this now comes with a toddler seat option but it didn't have that option when we bought ours :(
We got it when DS was 11 weeks old so we didn't get the basinette, but I am going to buy that for this bub. We will use it a lot in the house too for daytime sleeps. And when we go out as a family we will take both the strider and the profile and have a child in each lol.
I was thinking about getting a tandem pram, but I might make do with the 3 wheeler and toddler seat, as DS will be almost 2 when this bub comes. I'll see what DS is up to closer to the time before deciding.

Hels bels how do u like the strider4?
Im Thinking about getting it. Ive read some reviews one says its too wide for going through some checkouts at the shops as the rear wheels are big?
Any pros and cons would be great.
hmm i dunno what pram im going to get!!!! Both i was interested in have bad reviews.......
Is there any good overall prams out there? Or will they all have bad reviews?
Thanx

I luuurve my strider which is why I am going to use it for the next bub too (with the basinet). It's true about the back wheels being larger but I have never had a problem in the supermarkets etc as it fits through the checkout for wheelchairs. So that's never been a problem really.
One thing that I really love about it (and the main reason why I bought it) was because bubs could face me. We had him in the 3 wheeler (facing away) to start with and he would scream. As soon as we bought the strider he was like a different baby :)

Yes, the basinet or pram part comes out and you turn it around and put it back in. This is also how it goes in the car, you take it apart and then fold the frame.
Well, after reading this thread, I had a look on ebay last night and found a tandem pram which was exactly what we wanted. So I bid and got it for under $100 :smiliedance: (it is secondhand)

I still dont know what we are going to do in regards to prams...We have a Mountain Buggy Urban Elite which I LOVE for going for walks and has a massive basket which is great for walking to the shops!! We also have a Maclaren Techno XT single stroller which is great for quick trips....
We are going to have a 24.5 month gap between our two - so I definately want to strap our toddler in still :) She is wanting to walk everywhere however its just too hard to run after her all the time!!!
I think we will use the basinnette option of the MB at home and take the stroller out in the beginning and put the bub in the Baby Bjorn Active???
I have been looking at the P&T and MB Double...I also like the twin stroller too..
Hmmmmmm...decisions, decisions.....

i still have my 3 wheel jogger from DD. its a Jeep Liberty. It has all the features I need and I love it.
The only reason I would buy a new one is for the newborn bassinette. I love the Strider from Safe and Sound.
So it depends on what money I have left.

Now that I have a car - the Maclaren will be the one I use all the time - I LOVE IT.
I am still deciding are VERY hard to get around the streets where I live....Have had friends get them and only use them once or twice.

First of all, i want a cool pram that looks a bit groovy and not too mumsy and second of all, i want it to have the best of everything! I have test driven the lot of them from the EXY bugaboo right down to the cheapies and the one i am going to layby this week will be the phil and teds!
Its cool, its hip, it turns well, it has great accessories, it can go over grass, what more could you want ladies XX

i've just got a Childcare Discovery Pram/Stroller for my first baby due in february, targets sales were awesome. i paid $170.00 for a pram worth $250.00 my nan and i are really picky about prams and it passed our test. its got the rain cover and cold weather boot included and its also got a reversible handle too, the basket seems like it will be big enough and the back rest reclines all the way. i dunno if the sales are over yet but i think they'll still have some left at the reduced price until they are all gone. check it out i thought it was a great pram but you might think otherwise.

I have no idea on what we are going to do when #2 comes along. I was thinking about just using the stroller and Baby Bjorn...but would love a double pram or stroller....
I think we will decide on what to do later on - probably around 30w or so....Will definately read all your responses!!!
