Planning on Breastfeeding but wishing to express for husband to be able to feed and the rest. :)
Which bottles are the best for wee bubbas? Everyone tells me Nuk, Avent, Tommee Tippee etc and, well, :ecomcity: so confusing!

So I'm asking a bunch of other people who will probably tell me Nuk, Avent, Tommee Tippee... :p

I used the avent breast pump so I stuck with their bottles and teets. I tried tommee tippee once, but ryan wouldn't take to the shape of the particular teet I bought.
I'd recommend avent to everyone. The small bottles fit perfectly in the top section of the fridge if you store some ahead of your next feed too.

Good Luck!

I love the pigeon ones - the midwives recommended their teats to me... (peristaltic- apparently most like the nipple)

and best still... their teats are exchangable with all the avent bottles

I use the avent bottles for Jack's water... and the pigeon for b milk/ formula

Yep, everyone will tell you something different. IT gets pretty confusing doesn't it.

Ds won't touch any other than the happy baby ones, and they're the cheapest so its great. But every baby is different, so try a few and see how you go. Your bub will let you know what works best.

If you start off with the cheaper ones and they like them - great. Why pay extra for expensive ones?

:smiliedance: Sounds good wattle?
So there's really no 100% fantastic one then? just see what they'll take? :yelclap:

I use cheap bottles from $2 shops, and also Happy Baby ones as well. I just take their teats out and buy good ones. I've always used cross cut teats for Charlee, and they are Happy Baby too i think? Like wattle siad, try the cheap ones, and at least if your not happy with them, then you haven't spent a fortune.....

I use the Avent bottles but started off using the pidgeon teats when my DD was first on the bottle (at 5 weeks). The Pidgeon ones were recommended by the Midwife/Hospital and they fit onto the avent bottles. Now DD is older I use the Avent teats and she has no problems.

I was told by a lactation consultant that the wide-necked avent teats aren't really very good for newborns. Although they are advertised as being closest to the shape of a real breast and nipple, the plastic/latex is quite hard and may be difficult for bubs to use. We switched to a Pur nipple on cheap bottles. But then again, all bubs are different and obviously some thrive on Avent.

Yep, I'd start with something basic. If bub is fussing a lot, try another type of teat, or try another brand of bottle. Big W have a really good range, or the supermarket is fine too.

Same with formula, if you go that way.

Don't worry Seekrit - your motherly instinct will guide you in the right direction.:D

I have found with my bubs that whatever teat we used for their first bottle was the only kind they would use...both my bubs were on formula by 2weeks old due to probs with breastfeeding.

DS used the Pur orthodontic teats...he hated the Nuk ones, they are a slightly different shape...and I just got a pack of 6 bottles in a tray thingy from Big W for around $10 and used those with the Pur teats. They tray was great for keeping them in the fridge coz it was hard to get the bottles to stay upright on the shelves in our fridge.

DD will only use the Avent ones. That was all we could get at the time we decided to put her onto formula. We have tried her on the Pur ones and she wouldn't drink from them, we tried the Happy Baby ones hoping that coz they were a similar shape to the Avent she would be fine, but she refused to drink from them too.

I use the Avent ones, because I have an Avent breastpump.

I only need them for EBM until they can manage a beaker cup, then they use that. I make it my business that bottles are done away with ASAP.

Yep, hard they are! That is why I used the Pidgeon ones :D
