Hi everyone, I'm having trouble with my 19mth old coming to my bed nearly every morning around 3-5am. When I put him back to bed sometimes with a bottle he sreams the house down. I have my other son 3yrs old in the same room and he wakes up at times so then I have them both up. Should I just put 19mth in bed with me? What would you do? Have no more rooms.

When DD1 was 19months old she was coming in every night - it started being 5am then crept back to 3am and when it started at 11pm we knew we had to do something! Although some people are okay with their kids in bed with them all the time, I don't sleep well and we had a new baby coming so I knew I needed more sleep. We basically approached it like controlled crying. We put her back, made sure everything was okay and then left her to cry before going in and reassuring her, then left again. Her screams were like someone was being killed - so we had to warn the neighbours - but it was a pure tantrum, not fear or distress - just outrage that she wasn't getting her own way. It only took a couple of nights and she stopped. Now that she is older she still appears at 5am but will go and play in her room once we have acknowledged that she is awake. As for your three year old - maybe put him/her in your room for the couple of nights it takes to get everyone back into a routine? Good luck!

 Thanks for that. I think I will put him in my room, but not in my bed. I can't sleep when the kids are there. I worry that I might roll on him or get hit in the head from him.
