Hi there
Are there any Sydney mums out there?
Hi
I would love to say I'm a Sydney mum, but we moved TEMPORARILY to Melbourne in Feb. Melbourne is ugh. I look at the weather each day in Sydney and get soooo depressed.
We used to live in Willoughby? Where are abouts do you live? I am hoping to be back before next winter.

Hi guys! At last some Sydney Mums! I am Clair, have a 22mth old boy and we live in Rockdale. We are fairly busy for about half of the week and have some good friends in our area but always welcome more socialisation with others! I llived in the inner west for my late teens and twenties...and miss the vibe of the area...it's amazing how going a tiny bit further out from the city can be sooo different!
Hi Guys,..
I am also a Sydney Mum,... My name is Jane and I have an 8month old called Scarlett,. We live in Stanmore in the inner west,. Natalie, where abouts are you?
Hi, my name is Elizabeth and I have a 5 month old son, Max. I would definately be keen to catch up with other mums in the area, I love to go for walks in the afternoon around Centennial Park!

:p
I'm a sydney mum in DeeWhy on the northern beaches although I often bus into the city to checkout the museums etc. I have a four year old son, Marcus and I'm looking for some other mums to hang out with during the week.
Louise
H! Like Louise, I am looking for other mums to 'play' with. We have both posted on the Sydney North thread as well.
I am moving from Melbourne to Sydney this weekend (15th) and am looking forward to meeting and catching up with other mums.
I have a 5 month old DD named Ardyn, and like someone lese posted, we love coffee and smiling at other people's children (does this sound like a dodgy ad from the lonely hearts column to anyone else??????)
Anyway, we will be livingin Kirribilli for the next month, and then Upper North Shore after that.
E-mail me at cdandkb@maxi.net.au if you want to catch up.

Hello!
I was so excited to find this group! :) (Actually, my husband found it for me after tiring of my complaints about not knowing anyone around here!) I just moved here from the United States last month and am the stay-at-home mum of a 9-month old girl. I'm really eager to meet and talk with other mums. It's been a rough transition for us and I know my baby needs to see other babies, as well.
Kate - I, too, live near Darling Harbour!
I don't have a car and riding the bus farther than a few blocks drives me a bit crazy  , but if anyone nearby would like to get together near the harbour for a coffee or walk I would love to!

Kate,
I'm so happy you wrote again!
We live on Day Street (which is basically Harbour Street) right across from McDonald's and all the little restaurants/cafes beside Tumbalong Park. There is lots of construction in front of our building right now. Where are you located? Are we at all close to each other?
Whenever you'd like to get together, just let me know. Any day of the week is good for me, and early afternoon is a good time (1:00/1:30ish).
Hope to hear from you again soon!
Mora :)

Hi,
I noticed that you lived in the inner west, we do too, I am mum to 27 month old and a 10 month old!! Love the inner west, what made you move to Rockdale??
Cassandra
Hi Cassandra- Clair Bear here. My husband and I were happily living in Stanmore, then two months after we got married he got a job as a hotel licensee in Rockdale, which meant living above the hotel. When it seemed there wasn't much choice but to move here, that's when the reality of being married sunk in!!
I mean, staying in the inner west would've meant my husband would probably have
kept working nights in the hospitality industry, and I would've had to do the whole stay working and have kid/s in fulltime child care when we had children in order to pay the rent, bills etc and try to save.
Instead we are living in a pretty nice two bedroom residence rent and bill free, and I have been able to stay at home with my son while he's little, and we've established a great mother's group here, can walk down to Brighton Beach and are not too far from anywhere so I shouldn't complain!
Just don't take the inner west for granted :) I do really miss the atmosphere of the Newtown area, shops, cafes, cinema, parks, restaurants....just the general open minded vibe.....who knows, maybe Rockdale will catch up one day
Hi Clairbear, i too moved from the innerwest to brighton, its funny i was sitting here thinking hhhmmm i rally miss the innerwest for the same reasons you do, i too am able to stay home and look after my little boy, and yeh we can go down to the beach etc but its not the same, i feel that even though you may not have someone to hang with other mums or friends etc over there the enviroment embraced you, there was always somthing to do, and being that we are a one car fam. it makes it diff. to go anywhere, anyway im not complaining, for the same reasons as you i think its great. I think we have alot in common my partner and i came from leichhardt and we too are trying to adjust to the differences of the south...... ide love to here from you....... lealah.....
Hi Olivias Mum
Hope is all going well for July - I am due in October so if you are up for walks in Centennial and coffee let me know (was hoping to set up some sort of club where we can go walking either 10am or 1pm
Not sure of the best time but think we should start a Thursday Trend

Hi Sydney mums
I like the idea of meeting other mums too. I sometimes go to Darling Harbour with Will and meet his dad for lunch (he works in Haymarket) and then we go for a play on the grass in darling Harbour. There is also a good playground there for the older bubs
If anyone else would like to join us for a play one day that would be nice or we could meet at another park if anyone would like.
Skye
Hi Mora,
I live in Kensington. We're joining in a play group in Randwick tomorrow ( on Monday June 27th). I'd love to meet you and the other mums also. Hey mums let's meet someday this week. What do you say?
cheers

Hi May & Skye & other Sydney mums reading!
It's been lousy weather this week, huh?
May, how was your new play group?
Skye, good to know you come to Darling Harbour sometimes!
Should we all meet some day next week--assuming the sun is shining (or at least that rain is not in the forecast)--at the Harbour? I would love to meet some other mums.
Mora
Hi Mora, Skye and the other Sydney mums,
We didn't go to the new play group because of the weather. We don't have a car yet. :(
Yes, we should absolutely meet next week depens on the weather. I would love to meet other mums too.
Cheers
May
hi mummy's ,im in brighton le sands and your stories sound so familiar, i am so pleased to here that there are other mums in my shoes... it sounds like there is a cry for a mummies group somewhere pretty central , there are some mums in the city, some east, some south and some north so........ hhhmmm i guess it would be good to do a group at centenial park there is a great coffee shop there i think its called the round house, its a pretty popular spot for other mums groups but....? or somwhere like that, but what day .... how bout everyone post some suggestions and lets get this group started so we can have a few coffee's and a laugh...
Hi ladies,
City or Centennial Park. Either way works for me. What about you?
Cheers
May
Just thought I'd say a hi here. Not a Sydney mum yet, currently in London, UK, but will be moving to the upper north shore - Hornsby area, initially Wahroonga, in January next year in time for my 3.5 year old to start at preschool.
So sometime after that would love to join some meetups.

Hi girls ...
I'm a newby, so I appologise firstly for being so prompt on my first posting, but I am quite desperate and needed help badly. We live in Rockdale also, and about to have a baby in December. I am just wondering, for all working mums out there, is there a general rule about taking your maternity leave, as in how long ideally I'm supposed to take? Is 6 weeks too long or too short?
Also, can anyone recommend me a good child care centre around Rockdale and/ Broadway (which is where I work)? Being this is my first baby and everything ... I am feeling quite overwhelmed of what to do. Child care cost is soo expensive, but I do want to come back to work. Is there a more affordable solution to this?
Sorry ... so much to ask. I really want to hear your experienced/ opinion, since I am sure you girls are more of an expert in this field compare to me. Thank you very very much girls!! It's hugely appreciated.

There's a similar thread to this one on Sydney Mums CBD & East. I was on that one earlier.
Anyway, seems like the majority of us mums also want to meet other mums on a regular basis, how about if we make this a weekly thing (provided it's not raining) starting next Friday 22/10/2006?
I'll be there with a blue denim pram. Looking forward to meeting other mums.

I am an oldie here and while I think meeting up is great I think times and places should be discussed in PM's (private messages), this is a public forum and you just never know who's reading it and who might turn up!
Us Sydney bubhub mums try to meet up once a month, we just had one meet so the next will be in October, lots of people come from all over the place so we try to balance where we meet to make it fair for each other.
Nasha you twerp lol OK another time for you, young lady!!

Hi Catannie :)
Im Cathy, Im 22 and my partner and I have a little 2 year old daughter, Isabella. I know how you feel! I have absolutely no mummy friends and I have found it really hard to find any. Being a younger Mum I always felt judged and never pulled together the courage to go along to a Mothers Group!
Email me if you like: cbrown_9@hotmail.com or add me on Facebook and we can perhaps organise a get-together and play date with our girls!
Look forward to hearing from you!
