Hi
I am almost 36 weeks pregnant and since yesterday i have noticed my feet and ankles have swollen up like balloons.
I know swelling is a normal symptom of pregnancy but at what stage does it become abnormal?

Can you ring your middies and ask i swelled a little but not overly. Best to give them a call and ask them so you can get your blood pressure checked :) It might be totally normal but at least you can relax and know that things are ok then

mm hmm call the midwives. Usually some swelling is normal but if it is pre-eclampsia (which I got and felt a-ok) it needs to be brought under control asap. Don't mean to scare you.

For swelling though, keep your feet up, watermelon, dandelion leaf tea, I found acupuncture helped.

Let us know how it goes

My feet were HUGE, and I didn't have anything wrong. I actually had low blood pressure lol

Check with your LMC just to be sure, and I've heard that soaking your feet and then massaging can help, I didn't like it though because they felt so squidgy with all the water. :o

My hubby use to massage mine and I had to keep them up. After I had DS they were so puffy I couldnt wear shoes :o I had to bandage my feet tight to get my feet in shoes for my grandmothers funeral a week after I had DS:o

I wouldn't think it was that terribly unusual but I would mention it to your Ob/Middie etc
Celery is pretty good for water retension My Mum use to put it through the juice fountain with a granny smith apple and put it on ice for me.... really refreshing to drink
Otherwise the middies told me in hospital that keeping my legs up was the best way to shift it :( I would often find it would reinflate the next day for a while though

missie_mack, that is so cute that your hubby would massage your feet!

I remember getting into bed one night and seeing these two massive ham-like things coming in after me, I was like "THOSE AREN'T MY FEET!!!" and wouldn't let DH see or touch them, I slept on a diagonal just so he couldn't get to them haha

They would go down overnight though, thank goodness!!!

Rang midwives and they said that it sounds normal and my blood pressure has been good at appts but if i get headaches or blurry vision to let them know.
Also like many said to rest and raise feet above waist.
They look so gross and i too try to hide them from hubby but hey if he will offer to massage i wont refuse.
Thanks all for replies
