Hello again!
All is well here, if a little hectic today. We've been off to the gym, G is meant to be sleeping but is singing. Another little one is coming over for a couple of hours in about an hour, and after that I'm off to the acupuncturist - not much if you say it fast.
The trip plans are going strong. I was having a panic about luggage last night, we need to pack light especially as we are catching trains to get to our Japanese destination. I get the feeling though that Japanese stations might be a bit more traveller friendly - at least at the airport and in Tokyo. Oh well, we shall see. No point worrying too much about it, just need to plan as best as possible.
The rain has actually stopped here, still grey skies but actual sunshine which is amazing.

Hi Mary: Sorry forgot..When is your trip? Must be close.
Hope your day went smoothly will all your doing.

Us: rather quiet here.
Barbie tomorrow at the bosses. the wife and I will chat and catch up out of work ( She runs the office at work ) and DH will spend time with him doing nerdy computer chat and getting to know each other better which is great as they are wonderful people, who obviously like me and dh enough as workers to become more as friends.
I actually introduced them to someone at the wedding as my boss and they both growled at me ( in a nice way ) that they were friends first.
So since then I consider them more mates than my boss's. without crossing that line at work though!

Enough chatter. things to be done! Washing, ironing.....

oh , got approved new credit card and small loan, heh long time coming shopping spree!
just kidding..its for furniture in prep for our new home in 2 yrs when we buy our own, we wanted do now so out of the way and all lovely fairly new stuff for the new house without the extra $ right after you move in.

happy weekend all

Sorry so quiet..been crook and busy trying to get the house up to standard. Getting there slowly.

Tabby: Miss you chicky:hugs:. Glad things are rolling along nicely for you and you can have a bit of retail therapy. I agree about getting all the stuff you want before getting committed to a mortgage. Are you having fun deciding what to get?
What's new with Miss Katie these days? Just love the pic of her in your avatar. Talking much?
Is your ds2 still studying?
Brittany is still with the boyfriend and still working out at the reptile place. She is about to get a couple of pythons for her collection of critters. She already has a few rats and blue tongue lizards. Glad she managed to score an adjoining room where she lives so she can spread out a bit more. Trouble is..she will fill up the extra space with critters..lol.

Maria: How goes life these days? Are you enjoying the long weekend?

Rita: Where are you lovey? Are you ok? Hope your family is well.

Mary: That is so cute that Genevieve loves to sing. Dane does too....he has a thing about the onscreen tv guide on Foxtel ..just loves the music. I bought the kids some cushions with radio's in them and use one in Dane's cot set on classical music. Puts him to sleep really easily.
It must be fun planning a big trip away..but working out what to take and what to leave would be a toughie. I heard they are considering charging a baggage levy..and that ticket prices will rise with the rise in oil prices. You might be going at just the right time:yes:.

Cat: How are things going with the ivf? Is it all moving along easily? Hope you are having a great long weekend.

Sharon: look forward to hearing from you when you can post more. Glad to see you are still around though :)

Leanne: How are you feeling lovey? Getting those good kicks?

Dane is going along swimmingly. We are nearing the six month mark (where did that time get to?). He has started babbling bub-bub and possibly dad-dad (only did it a few times last night). He is rolling and can sit propped with cushions, but is not generally early with his milestones. He is up on the 30th percentile for weight and somewhere around the 75th for height.
I am so enjoying him. It is an overwhelming love and I just feel grateful every single day. Helps that he is a real sweetheart:D. The kids adore him too..and hubby is totally smitten.
The weather is up and down but we had a fab sunny day yesterday..good drying weather so out went the curtains. Today is a bit grim though and I still have so much more washing to do.
Best trot off and scrub the oven.

Hugs to everyone.
Amy:)

Hi Amy - are the rats for the pythons??? And where did you buy the musical cushions from? A girlfriend has a new baby and has problems settling him. I'll get them a cushion and see if that helps.

I had 3 eggs collected on Thursday and one just failed to thrive, the other failed with the ICSI process and I had one embie transferred yesterday, but already wondering if its going to stick. I saw a small amount of blood this morning when I went to the loo and some goo. Trying to remain relaxed, but I'm also trying to study for an exam next week and can't concentrate. And I should have quit smoking and drinking coffee earlier. Two less things to worry about. I keep walking past the coffee eyeing it off like Dracula in the blood bank.

I see most of the ladies here have a 2 week wait for a BT, but I have to go in again next Saturday to see if my levels are high enough to sustain a pregnancy so I'm not sure if they will say yes or no to a pregnancy because I'm still on pessaries.

Any woo, I'll just have to learn to be patient.

Hope everyone is well.

Catherine: :fingerscrossed: for that small amount of blood to be implantation which a lot of women say they get. :hugs:

Seeing as I ovulated last week we are both sharing the horrible 2 week wait? Im currently day 20 of 28 day cycle so 8 days to testing. I can bet I wont last the 8 days though, always tested early and got my positives with both boys and Katie about 8-9 dpo.

Amy: Glad your feeling better hun.
6 months!!!!!!!!!!!!!! wow YES where did that go?
Lovely age though isnt it? Everything is so new to them and the learning process starts.
Oh goodness..pythons! I have a huge snake phobia lol.
glad alls going so well for her now, thats wonderful to hear.
Katie is still as adorable as ever. Never stops chatting, which I love! Her list of words I could not list now its so long, so pretty much everything, if she cant say it she will at least try. We now watch our p's and q's very closely lol.
Shes sleep 12 hrs a night ( 8pm-8am) and 2-3 hrs arvo nap. With happiness and laughter all in between. How perfect can you get.

Today we were out in the garden nearly all day.
They chopped down my 2 dead trees finally so we tidied it all up. must say it looks just lovely again.
Next week is the back yard in prep for the all new play equipment for the Miss.

Am rather pooped though so might go put my feet up while Katie naps.

hope happy weekend for all

Hi Vicki, thanks for that. I hope it's just that and nothing serious. So your blood test is on the 16th? I'm on the 14th so I'll let you know.
Not feeling brave enough to test early. Let me know how you go with yours.

Cheers and thanks!

Hi Amy - are the rats for the pythons??? And where did you buy the musical cushions from?
No..rats not for pythons. She has had pet rats since she was twelve..just loves them.
I got the cushion radios from The Reject Shop a few weeks ago. They look like big Ipods and were reduced to just $3!! I am going back next week to see if they have any more. Will get you one if they do.

I had one embie transferred yesterday, but already wondering if its going to stick. I saw a small amount of blood this morning when I went to the loo and some goo.
:fingerscrossed:, toes crossed, eyes crossed, legs crossed. C'mon lone embryo..get sticky!
Will be hanging to hear on the 14th.

And I should have quit smoking and drinking coffee earlier.
I said the same thing with each pregnancy. I drank far too much tea, and smoked about 15 cigs a day. The kids are at me to give up the smokes and I know I will have to some time soon..just gotta get up the willpower.
Hope you can get your study done. Don't blame you for not concentrating though.
Am away to do some more work, then bed.
Hugs,
Amy:)

Yay for the good long overnight sleep. Can't wait until Dane stretches his out a bit more, currently doing around 8hrs a night and 2x3hr day naps.
You can't get much more than perfect Vicki..and how awesome is that!?!

hi ladies,

Well, its been real weird of late.

Firstly, I stopped my donor egg cycle. I cant recall if I mentioned it. It wasnt meant to be..... I dont know if I will be attempting child #3... it just seems the odds are insurmountable at the moment. I tried to remain polite at all times to my donor to be, but it got ugly. I copped a fair bit of abuse from her, nasty words, she wouldnt beleive me that I had not enough money to continue the process. She also appeared to have someone in her ear filling her with malicious lies about me and she was beleiving them over me..... really distressing.... one owuld think she'd beleive me over someone she has never met before.... In any case, she apologised and its all calmed down now, although the WHOLE affair has left a very bitter taste in my mouth and the desire to go down the path with a donor scares the crapola out of me..... I dont need the extra greif, its hard enough when you realise your eggs are dodgy..... let alone have a donor go kamikazi on you cos you cant continue.... just so wrong on so many different levels, its not funny!

I went to Melbourne last week for my friends newborn baby funeral, it was devastatingly sad. I feel such a great loss for them, she has been trying for a long time.... he lived for 15 hours..... bless his little soul.

I am considering doing lab band surgery to lose the weight I just cant shift... its a lot of money, so Im hesitant about that, plus its a big deal u know..... But its important i have my health for my two kids and hubby.... wnat to be around for a long time u see.....

My cycles appear a bit whacky too..... I have been suffering from sweats/chills for some time, keep thinking Ive got a cold, but now thinking perhaps peri-menopause????? I had loads of tests done, all else appears normal, apart from the result that showed Ive HAD Ross River Virus..... cant work out whats wrong with me, but I feel so weird, the sweats, the skin crawling on my scalp, being soaked thru with sweat then chilled. I feel like Im going INSANE:hair:. This must surely be what women complain about in the change of life..... will see doc again this month and talk about some other blood tests to do to check my hormone levels, see if my oestrogen is dropping, hence the sweats. Been on IVF meds for so long, who really knows WHAT my body is up to in its natural state???

So, Im pretty well stuffed eh? I also had a CT scan done on my nose due to this constant congestion...I have chronic sinusitis, seeing a specialist this week..... see what he says I need to do to make it better.... whatever he says, Im sure it will hurt!

Now, to sleep and to rest my tired acheing body.....

So, as you can see, lots of emotional stuff been thrown my way last month..... I try to be a support to others, but at the moment, I can barely support myself emotionally.....

Rita: Sorry to hear of such hard times hun. Can only send lots of :hugs: and hope that helps xx
Sure does sound like pre-menopausal doesn't it? Maybe its just some long term affects from the drugs involved that are similar? Hope you find out soon. Also hope all begins to get better for you, that woman sounds horrid! Big believer in Karma here so dont worry it will come back to bite her on the *** one day.

Must go, Katie has thrown up again as she trys to settle, im at such a loss here. Throws up about 5 mins after put to bed then settles again just fine like it didnt happen...Might have to ditch the bottle asap to help cos i have no idea why this happens 50/50 times that shes put to bed.

Hello my dears,
We have had a fabulous long weekend. Went down to my parents place and relaxed. They sent us out on Saturday night, which was good. We had a couple of drinks at a bar overlooking the ocean (very black at night!!) and dessert in a cafe. One thing I love about staying down there is they both have a thing about how lovely their grandchildren are first thing in the morning, they come and take G after her morning bf and we get to sleep in. Two days of that is bliss! The other great thing is the hospitality - my Ma likes nothing better than cooking!! G slept for 4 hours this afternoon whilst we had lunch - some friends came over too so it was good to catch up with them too.
Rita - sorry to hear that things have been so hard for you lately - I hope it picks up soon!
Amy - the photos didn't want to work for me either, will try again.
Vicki - the settling vomit sounds pretty awful. I'm still bf-ing G, but maybe if you gave Kaitlyn a cup of milk with her dinner instead of the bottle? Yay for the garden play set, sounds like fun. We just have a little infant swing for G that we hang from our verandah, and she loves it now. Mind you she was frightened of it last week!! Was thinking about a sandpit, but will wait til summer.
So - there are quite a few of us that are ttc at the moment - wouldn't it be fun if it all worked for all of us this cycle! Take some pressure off eh??
The travel plans are all going great guns, we're off tomorrow fortnight. Did a big G shop the other day, things like new bibs and singlets, exciting huh?
Hope those of you who had the long weekend enjoyed it as much as we did!

Hi all Once again, sorry to be missing for so long. DH's business has needed some attention so I have been on the internet working rather than playing. Have tried to keep up with what everyone is doing. AMY - How are you going??? Hope you're taking care of yourself, you've been tired a bit. How's your foot? Sending you warm fuzzies. RITA - You've been through the wringer lately too. The situation with your donor sounded dreadful and your poor friend's baby's funeral ... I'm so sorry. I hope you are feeling a little stronger now and enjoying your life ... just how it is. VICKI - Hope all is well with you - your little girls is just a joy! Fingers crossed for you this cycle too! MARY - I'm too jealous to speak!! Your holiday just sounds awesome. Hope you enjoy it - and good luck with the preparations. CATHRINE - Have seen your name pop up in the IVF section. Hope your 2ww is going ok - am hanging to hear your result. Good luck!! Sorry, am gonna have to cut this short! My little boy has woken up and must be starving! Hope all is well with you and yours! Hi ladies
It's been a while but have been really busy lately.

Baby DD is so beautiful and cuddly at the moment. Unfortunately wants mum all day. Still waking up once a night, but goes straight back to sleep after a breast feed. By the way I'm the oldest at playgroup and the only one still breastfeeding. they probably think I'm a bit strange!

DD15 going thru low confidence, self esteem issues at the moment. Finds it hard to meet new people. On asking her friends they say it's all in her body language, she stoops down, lowers her head, crosses her arms. She doesn't realise she's doing it and is getting quite anxious about it and wants to change, problem is how?

Take care.
Maria

11-06-2008, 17:06
Maria - good to see you again! How old is your little one again? I am still breastfeeding Genevieve, just twice a day usually (sometimes she gets more) and would be amongst the last of my mothers group to be doing so. She has no sign of wanting to stop - it must be good stuff. I would be the oldest at our playgroup too.
Is your dd15 tall? I know one of my cousins was very tall from a young age and had real esteem problems but she "grew" into herself in her early twenties. The poor darling though, it is awful when you feel low in confidence. Maybe a pilates class will help her posture without her realising - it does make you stretch!

Argh am so buggered! Works been extra long and hard so far this week am really feeling it!

Had to come home to mop floors for the land lord whos coming tomorrow to discuss new flooring so wanted them to be clean ( even though still look like **** lol )

Maria: Sorry to hear dd is having confidence problems. Cant really help there sorry..
Hope her outlook is much happier for her soon xxx

Hi Leanne! Lovely to hear from you, glad alls well your end.

Mary: your mini holiday sounds like it was just fab! Especially the couple of drinks over the ocean view.

Mary, Katie doesnt have any milk what so ever, she regurgitates that back within 20 mins every time, she was a reflux baby so most likely stems from that. She only has water or juice now and a sippy cup for day and a bot only for nap and bedtime.
I think we have it worked though so thanks for the suggestion anyhow.
Now I only give very minimal bottle at nap time, about 1/4 and so far so good. :fingerscrossed:
I think it was a matter of too much liquid when laying down and with the reflux still there somewhat it sits there and doesnt go down. Creating the indigestion pain and then vomit to get rid of it.

So so tired! Must go. Am hoping work will slow down tomorrow of friday...

Am about 9 dpo I could test now but will wait as Im not having any symptoms as yet that are making me want to test.
With both boys and dd I knew from the sore nipples that I was pregnant way before AF even due.
:fingerscrossed: I am...just different symptoms this time rnd lol

good luck to us all this month ttc :wizard:

Hi ladies
My DD15 Maddy is very tall and has been since she was in primary school. It could be posture but I think it is more shyness. Someone suggested hypnotherapy for self esteem, confidence problems. A bit expensive though. I do worry about her as she doesn't like team sports, and find it hard to meet new friends. I am probably biased but I think she is quite attractive and I can't understand why she has this problem. My husband thinks it's because she doesn't play sport and doesn't have any real hobbies. Might try YWCA or a self esteem course for teenagers.

DD almost 14 months Julia still loves her breast milk. She just sighs when we are feeding and just relaxes so much. I love it and will probably continue for a little while longer. I'd like to go to 20 months if I can.

Vicki what job do you do and how do you do it with a little one as well. You're amazing!
Maria
Take care and have a great day.

Amy - lovely pics - what beautiful little ones you have.
Vicki - hope the floors inspection goes/went well.
Maria - Genevieve is the same with feeding - it is so nice isn't it? I hope Maddy finds something to do that she enjoys - she sounds so much like my cousin, who is now so proud of her height and her beauty. If she has some good friends already thats a good start! We (ie me and my sisters) never did team sports and I don't think it hurt us socially. I hope things start looking up for her.
All is well here. G and I went to Playgroup in the Park today as our hall was being used by the church. She had a ball, and fell asleep in the pram on the way home, and stayed asleep for three hours which was just grand.
I have been busy organising things for our trip. At the moment its baby hire gear in Vancouver, as we are staying with my Aunty Cousin (you know the ones, my Mums cousin really) and they don't have grandchildren, though I hope that their daughter sorts that out for them soon!!! It will be so lovely to see them again - I stayed there for 3 months way back in the dim and distant past, and the last time I visited was 7 years ago. I am looking forward to introducing them to my husband and daughter!! There are still a few things to be finalised apart from this. Its all such fun though, I can't wait.

hi Ladies!

Floor inspection went so good hes coming back tomorrow to take photos and discuss with manager. Sounds promising anyhow..to be coming back again to see them. so still fingers crossed.

Maria: I work for a blind cleaning company, we clean verticals / venetians etc. Pick up and same day clean and return.
Its been hard to get my self away from Katie but majority is 4 hrs ( lately 5-6) and the extra $ lets me get her what ever I want! Plus its good for the soul. time out to be me instead of always Mum or wife you know?
Im very blessed to still have my parents here and very close by, they come here at 10am every mon - thur and stay till im home so shes in her own environment. then Mil comes friday and does the same. she would come more but she lives over a hr away so once a week is enough for her.
I was thinking about how ds1 was a bit shy in his early teens...he joined a local church youth group! We are by no means religious at all!!!! he had a friend take him there once and he loved it so much he kept going. they go to camps and outings all the time as huge group. Might be an idea?

Mary: Sounds like all go for you..How much longer to go? Meeting up with the rellies sounds wonderful after 7 years! what a treat that will be.

My back is better today with work slowed down thank goodness! Also got a new electric blanket to warm me up and hopefully ease the bones lol

Amy! I have just had some fun retail therapy!

I went to Melbourne last week for my friends newborn baby funeral, it was devastatingly sad.

I am considering doing lab band surgery to lose the weight I just cant shift...
My cycles appear a bit whacky too..... I have been suffering from sweats/chills for some time, keep thinking Ive got a cold, but now thinking perhaps peri-menopause????? will see doc again this month and talk about some other blood tests to do to check my hormone levels, see if my oestrogen is dropping, hence the sweats. Been on IVF meds for so long, who really knows WHAT my body is up to in its natural state???...I have chronic sinusitis, seeing a specialist this week.....
Now, to sleep and to rest my tired acheing body..... but at the moment, I can barely support myself emotionally.....
Rita..I am so sorry life is being unkind at the moment.
So very sorry to hear about your friend's loss. How devastating to have jumped through so many hoops of fire and finally got to the finish line only to have it end so sadly. Was there any indication of trouble prior to bub's birth? My mind cannot even comprehend such loss. I hope your friend has plenty of support at this time.

Sorry also to hear about things going sour with the prospective donor. Have you had a chance to talk with the person who is bad mouthing you? I am more sorry that you couldn't proceed though. I know how excited you were.:hugs:.

A friend has had the lap banding and it is working very well. She also had it for health reasons. It is a last resort but if it means being healthy for your gorgeous girls and your dh then it would be worth spending the money I would think.

Hope you get the sinus fixed. I have the same issue and it sends me totally deaf during bouts of sinusitis. I think I may need a hearing test as I am forever asking people to repeat things. How is your heel spur going? My foot is still very painful but I still haven't been to the dr (smack smack)..and now all my joints ache..dang but it is tough getting old..lol.

When I read about your sweats etc I did wonder if years of IVF hormones (??) could be a contributing factor. Let us know what you find out.

Wish I lived closer hon..would love to chat over a cuppa and give you a :hugs:. Is there a counsellor that the IVF program provide so you can debrief?
Can only hope things pick up soon.
Hugs,
Amy:)

Mary: Can you send your folks down my way for a bit?. I would love to have a sleep in with dh. We play tag team to squeeze in a few extra hours on the weekends..he gets first shift sleep in and I take the afternoon..lol.
Did you find a good hire company in Canada? I love that idea. When I would visit home (QLD) with Brittany as a bub, my mum would always organise to hire stuff through her local council.
I had to laugh about your current fridge-love:laughing:. Your visitors must laugh too..lol.
I have a six year old fridge and I am ready to drive to the CEO's office and shove it up his.......!!!!.Worked fine for the first few years then lately I have had it serviced twice in a seven week period and it still has problems. We are looking down the barrel of a new fridge. Why don't they make them to last like they used to?
Hope Genevieve gives you a longer sleep tomorrow. Dane was awake at 6:30am but I feigned sleep so dh fed him..hehehe.
Hugs. Hope you have a lovely w/e.

happy weekend all
xx

Vicki
Sounds like that retail therapy is doing you the power of good Mrs Vicki. I must say that when I bought my washing machine I got excited too..lol..I even stood there admiring it today while waiting for it to finish a load..sad considering we have had it 18mths now:laughing:..but it is like Xmas when you get new stuff. Makes the house look different too with all the gleaming things.
How has Katie taken to the play equipment? Are you able to get her to come inside now? lolol.
Good luck in buying the fuel..it is a major purchase and you really should think about it before investing so much money:D. I was chatting to my big brother the other night. He lives in the middle of woop woop in the NT and said petrol there is at $2.50 a litre!!
Pretty soon people won't be able to afford to get to work, buy food, purchase a home..so what happens then?
OK..best take a few deep breaths and stop fretting about the future..lol.
I wish you lived close enough to huggle with Dane..then I could squeeze Katie too:yes:

Enjoy filling the freezer.

DD almost 14 months Julia still loves her breast milk. She just sighs when we are feeding and just relaxes so much. I love it and will probably continue for a little while longer. I'd like to go to 20 months if I can.
Hello lovely.
If it wasn't your daughter's height then it would be that she was too short; or had freckles; or thought her bum was too big. Remember what it was like to be a teenager and so very insecure about yourself?
My own dd ended up in a mental health ward some time ago after a traumatic episode and the psychiatric nurse had the audacity to look her up and down and remark that she had no reason to be there..that anyone that had that figure and those looks shouldn't have a problem.
OMG! If I had overheard there would have been trouble. Thankfully dd has a very good tongue in her head and taught that nurse a thing or two..lol.
I really can't say what might work with your gorgeous daughter but I guess all you can really do in the end is support her through this phase and hope she comes out of it soon..maybe through being absorbed in something she is passionate about.. a hobby or sport or something.
The teens and twenties are such unsettled times.

:smiliedance:for you doing such a fine job with the breastfeeding. It truly is a labour of love.
Best finish posting and head to bed.
Have a good weekend Maria.
Hugs,
Amy:)

*wonders where Cat is?*. Hope all is going well.

I am having some friends come for lunch tomorrow. Actually they invited themselves..lol. It is my birthday and I would like to say I will be enjoying a lie-in with breaky in bed but I promised ds1 that I would go and stand in the freezing cold to watch him at footy. Oh well.
I am incredibly sore after all the cleaning I did for the inspection last week landlord's son-in-law still found plenty of things to moan about. Looks like I will have to work harder as he is coming back next month to ensure I have fixed the problems. Thankfully they are little things that I can do quickly.
He had a go at me about some streaks on the front window. I had cleaned them on one of the very wet and overcast days but of course the day of the inspection was a sunny one. He spent some time instructing me on how to wash windows properly. I felt about six inches high.
Anyway, I can't moan too much..the rent is considerably lower than comparable places in our suburb and the public primary school is very close and the best in our part of town. Praying we can get our own place soon..just need a windfall to start us off..lol.
Goodnight all.

Amy - Happy Birthday to you!! Hope you're having a lovely day and Canberra isn't too cold out there on the footy side-lines!
Vicki - Katie and Genevieve should join a Book Club!! Genevieve loves reading too, it is really nice to watch, she even brought a book into the laundry this morning whilst I was mucking around out there, sat down in the middle of the room and started reading. She loves her alphabet letters in the bath too - we have got her another set to take away with us!
Amy - on another matter - where does your landlord get off??? Though it sounds like overall you have a good relationship with him.
We've had a lovely weekend so far, though rather wintery here in Sydney-town. On Friday night we had my entire immediate family and one cousin around here for dinner, 14 around the table for dinner - Genevieve was already in bed by that time!! My Mum cooked, we just provided the venue. It was the first time in ages that we've all been together, all the siblings, partners, off spring. Such fun!
On the subject of party plans we are all off to a Tupperware cocktail party this afternoon, but we're not purchasing anything - bought too much when I had one myself a month ago! Am also off the cocktails (never thought I'd write that sentence and not actually be pg) am on a bit of a brain cell preservation mission for a few days!! Should be fun anyway, we all love a party.

Hi Amy,

HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!!

I'm lurking and well thanks. How are you?

I agree with Mary, your landlord sounds like a pain in the A. I'm a landlord (lady - term used very, very loosely) and the only thing I inspect is that there aren't any holes in the walls and there isn't a motorbike in the loungeroom. I expect it to be in good nic when they move out, but other than that, if they aren't damaging the property or frightening the neighbours, I don't really mind. I think you're being too generous to him.

Hope you have a lovely day today and DH is extra nice considering he made a martyr out of you this morning by standing in the cold watching him play.

Take care

Hi Ryllanne - welcome to this thread of women 40 and over!!
As you can see from my signature I have a daughter who is 17 months old, and dh (dear husband) and I are ttc (trying to conceive - the bubhub abbreviations can be mystifying to start with, though there is a good list of them in the users guide bit) number 2. I too had a miscarriage earlier this year, it was not a good time, but it happened for a reason and I am glad my body made the decision for me.
All is well here, I'm on the nil-by-mouth part of Tuesday before heading off to weight watchers!! G is in the bath under her daddy's supervision. She is a little tired as she only managed a short sleep and we have been out most of the afternoon getting her a check up at the Doc's (alls fine) before our trip, and doing a bit of shopping. Lord was she cranky at the Dr's or what? Quite a performance - it doesn't auger well for her shots when we get back from our trip.
Hope all is well with all of you.

Hello Ryllanne,
Great to have another in our group.
Have you done a home pregnancy test yet?
I also felt scared to tell my gp when I was pg last year as I had lost one the year b4 and she was less than sympathetic particularly about my age. However, I did tell her last year and begged for an early (7wk) scan just to see a heartbeat for my own peace of mind. Thankfully she caved and the scan went well and now I have an adorable six month old.
Look forward to hearing from you soon.
Amy:)

Tabby: I don't know about you but after all the years of struggle as a single parent it was sooo nice to be able to have some 'nice things'. I am not particularly materialistic but I used to feel like the 'poor cousin' by comparison to my friends. They had nice new furniture while I sat on second hand, same with cars. When you are finally able to have some new stuff it makes you walk a little taller I reckon.
How does Katie like the play things? Is she busy out playing now?
I so understand the difference between a new vac and the old one..Electrolux built their business on demonstrating how much more dirt their vac's got out of your carpet by comparison to your own. So what one did you end up buying? I am thinking of a new one. Ours is only 2yrs old but an upright. If you accidentally suck up a carpet string or one of the kids shoelaces it winds around the head and then the vac starts to smell like burning..eeek.

Mary: How did the Tupperware cocktail party go, minus the cocktails..? They probably hoped you'd get smashed and buy the whole catalogue?. I always think I can go to a Tupperware party and not buy anything but last time I think the can opener sucked me in.lol..expensive but it is fantastic.
How is the WW going? There is a teacher at school who has done it online and dumped so much weight that she is virtually unrecognisable now.
How long til the big trip?

Cathrine: How are you going hon? What is the next step in ttc?
Thanks for the words about the landlord's son-in-law. We keep the house very nice and have never been late with rent in 7.5yrs but he is just extra fussy. One day all 40 properties will be his (well, his wife's I guess as she is the only child of the owner), so I guess he feels he has a stake in keeping them perfect..lol. Frankly I hope when the time comes he will sell us this house. We keep asking but the owner says it is his retirement job, servicing the houses and offices he built himself.

The headaches seem to be going but I had Lachie home with them yesterday, and Selia home as she was throwing up. Something going around the school. Dane seems to be well though :fingerscrossed:.
I had a lovely birthday. Brittany made me a cake..oh so yum..and I got some great pressies..then a few odd ones *shrugs*..but the day was celebrated well.
Thank you all for your birthday wishes and comments about the inspection.
The sun is out so I had best get some washing out too.

Hope this post finds you all well.

Hi Amy,

Good to hear about your birthday, but not the sick family.

I was supposed to go to the clinic this morning for a pregnancy test, but decided not to which was a bit silly so I'll probabably head over there on Monday, even though I know what the result would be, the staff are still saying it's too soon for my periods, which its not.

I haven't any ice babies so the procedure starts from scratch again which means I need to find another $6K (approx). I'll have a chat to them on Monday and see what they say.

Hope you're having a lovely weekend.
Ciao

Oh Cat, so much for you to think about at the moment, my heart is with you.
Amy - the party last Sunday was fun, even if I did stay sober and manage to not purchase anything. Genevieve had a ball as there was a 4 year old girl to play with, and Dh got to catch up with some of his friends.
The weight watchers is going well, altogether I have lost 15kg which is pretty good. Still a bit to go til goal. I've cancelled my membership for when we are away so I'm trying to be good, just wont be going to meetings.
We have to be at the airport at the crack of dawn on Tuesday. We have been busy doing washing, sorting and packing type things. I really want to get it all done tomorrow so I don't have to do anything on Monday night. I packed my stuff ages ago, but for some reason Genevieve doesn't want to pack her own bag - though I know she would be very keen on unpacking it!! Dh is getting there but very slowly.
So preparations have taken up a chunk of the day, though we did go out this afternoon to my brother's cafe (well, really his partner's but he works there 7 days a week too) and then for a walk down at Bronte beach. It was a beautiful day. Great for washing and being out and about.
It seems tomorrow will bring more of the same in the preparations department, with perhaps a visit to my big sister's (around the corner, literally) if they're home.
Dh is busy marking papers and sighing - which will keep him busy tomorrow too I think.

Yikes hon..is that the amount each time? I had it in my head that medicare helped out for the first few times..but my info could be old and warped as I helped a friend through her IVF journey ten years ago. Is there no financial assistance at all?

Wow..15kgs is fantastic..gotta be happy with that effort!
I understand you wanting Monday to relax and rest before the big flight out on Tuesday. If you only get back in here to read b4 you go then BON VOYAGE! Have a ball hon.

Beach? Nice weather? These things don't compute. I was out shaking sheets of ice from the outdoor furniture this morning. The sun we got today was too weak to dry the washing in one day..so I have left it all on to have another go around tomorrow.

Your poor dh. His students must be pretty thick if he is sighing as he is marking..lol. I forget, what level does he teach..high school, uni??
I don't know how teachers manage to teach the teens/early twenties. I think of the Y gen as 'baby magpies'. If you have ever heard a baby magpie they squawk in a high pitch something akin to: "me! me! me! now! now! now!" but then perhaps I am just old and p*ssed off..hehehe.

Try not to think about us while you're away:crying:..but make sure you remember us when you get back. Can't wait to hear of your travels.

Enjoy,

I can't imagine shaking off sheets of ice from the outdoor furniture brrrr. Thats the Nation's Capital for you! Have to say we haven't had much good drying weather lately either - today was a welcome change.

Hi Amy,

There is a rebate from Medicare and I have some cover from my health fund. I'm not sure how much I'll be out of pocket when the dust has settled, but unfortunately for some stupid reason, I can't submit any of the accounts until the treatment has finished. Then the clinic is paid the shortfall by Medicare and then I can lodge my documents. The process takes up to 2 months, so I shouldn't waste time and should get back on the treatment. If I had some on ice, the next outlay would only be $1-1.5K, so fingers and toes crossed that next time, I can have a little collection of my own.

How you're well !

Hi Mary,

I was telling a friend of mine about your WW nil by mouth afternoons and she cracked up. She started to go in the evenings and then switched to Saturday mornings because she said she was arriving at the meetings with a kebab in her hands. She's been on it for over a year and has lost 34 kilos and I think she's just shy of her target. She also stopped smoking and eating junk food and started going to Curves 3 times a week. Her shockingly high blood pressure has come down and is no longer on any medication for the first time since she was in her early 20s, and the nicest news is that she is going to try for her 3rd child. She's only 40 but her doctors were horrified when she became pregnant with her 2nd child because of her blood pressure, so it's now all good. 15 kilos is amazing. I don't have any discipline so to lose that, I'd have to cut off a leg or two.

Take care and get packing !

Greetings from Japan!!
Yes, I am sitting in the hotel room in a regional city listening to my dd sleep with dh out for the count as well! All is well, G and I are spending a lot of time trawling the local shops here, a bit of a laugh. She really is the local crowd pleaser, I think we are the only westerners in this part of the city! Have seen women out shopping in their kimonos, have caught a bullet train, we have a lot of neon signs flashing out the window, and the strangest thing is our "shower toilet" which is a combination toilet and bidet with a heated seat, as you do!
We are here til Saturday, then its a night in Tokyo before another flight onwards to London!
Will catch up again soon I'm sure!

glad move has been a positive experience, apart from the too early schooling experience, my first was the same, was clingy, but after a cupla days at the day care, she was like a siamese child..... couldnt tell where she ended and I started! IS still a b it this way now and she is 7.5 years old!

OK Ladies.... I have one question...... and if I had more time Id try to learn the answer myself......

What is the oldest mum you know of that has done IVF and achieved a baby from it that didnt have any problems.... I dont mean frozen embies that mum used up years later... fresh transfer?????

Thought you guys would be the most in the know with this question.....

Now, Im off to have breakfast..... not that I can taste anything, I had my sinuses and adenoids fixed last week and Im still trying to recover from the op (way too much blood, surgeon was mightily impressed at how much I bled! - smartarse that he is!) THat was a week ago and last night was the first night I got to sleep for a decent stretch.... although still feel totally knackered!

Will try to come back later to read up..... I have many questions and fears.... know you guys have experienced them all and probably more!

Cheers, Rita

Hey gorgeous..glad to hear from you finally:shame:..j/k..nice to see you posting though:yes:.
I hear you on the sinuses..got it bad today..so will the op stop you getting sinusitis? (she asks hopefully as she is sick of going deaf each time).
As to oldest IVF..I honestly don't know but my brain keeps telling me to say there was an Italian lady who was in her 60's who had a bub maybe 5yrs ago. She had it as her only child, a son, had passed away in an accident in his 30's (?) and she was so bereft she went ahead and IVF'd a bub.
Maybe do a search for that story.
Hugs,
Have to dash..off to buy Lachlan some new sandshoes. Oooh..and went shopping earlier today and bought this odd teapot looking thing called a Neti Pot to wash out the sinus cavities with. Can't wait to try it out..lol.

Mary: Hark at you and your jet-setting lifestyle:D. Love the description of the toilet. I hear tell they have one that measures your urine for diabetes etc. I think the Japanese are really on the ball though. I saw a doco on birthing in Japan and they force the new mother to have a massage and a hairdressing appt before she leaves the hospital! Way to go! Hope the rest of your holiday is brilliant.

Tracey: How fantastic that you made the move and are enjoying it. Sorry your dd doesn't like the idea of school...prolly could have waited til next year but you never know..she might actually take to it given time.
Congrats on the p/t job. Have you sussed out the IVF situation there yet?
I envy you..it is gorgeous up where you are. I bet the township has grown since I was last there. Do they have all the big shops there now? Kmart/Woolies etc?

I had best dash. Dane is awake after hearing dh's shower running. Quick feed, shower, then bed again.
Selia has a special program to attend at the Grammar school for the next two days. Hope she doesn't like the place as fees for her and Lachie would run to around $24K per annum*yikes*. We could give up eating and wearing clothes I guess but I have become accustomed to them:laughing:

Hugs to all you wonderful women.

Hi there,

Well we all went to Port Douglas yesterday and I was amazed how it has changed since dh and I lived there 15 years ago! Big supermarket in the main street and resorts and shops everywhere. The girls enjoyed 4 mile beach as did we.It hasn't changed and is as beautiful as ever :sunshine:.
We haven't done anything about Ivf yet, spent all our funds on the move....but maybe one day.
Did anyone see on ninemsn about the mum that conceived naturally and gave birth to triplets at 46yrs? Great to hear that it can be achieved..never give up she says! Good on her I say.
well.better go for some school holiday fun!!
love tracey.

Saw her on A Current Affair or one of those shows. I laughed when they said she also *sound of utter surprise from the reporter* had a baby at 43!!!
Good for her. They wanted another and proved the nay-sayer doctors wrong.
There is a higher risk of multiples as you age..but thank goodness Dane was a singleton..lol.
Enjoy the holidays..ours start next week so I am busy collecting projects to keep the kids busy for the fortnight.

OK, ive used my hubbies puter and it lets me type here on the bub hub site! Mine wont let me!!! Anyway, at least this one works.....

OK, I have a question and need some answers...

thinking of going in again with the IVF, Im 44 in August. I know the odds are against me.... but you please tell me...

How old you were when you conceived to give me more hope. I conceived Kyra at 41 + 10 months.....:wizard:

I wonder whats wrong with my puter..... ive logged off re-booted... i can post on other sites, just nothing on bub hub! but this puter does work.. so, I must have a bug in mine eh?

Please help me with advice... Rita

:yelclap::) yay, I did a disk cleanup and my machine now works!:yelclap:

I was getting so frustrated, I did such big long posts to reply and it got chewed up at least 6 times...... I was about to throw theputer out the flaming window!

Jariah, Port Douglas is lovely now eh.... that supermarket is not so bad, considering what there was there before..... I love Port Douglas, if I could Id live there, but the road trip into Cairns is harrowing! I woudl close my eyes and just hope we made it to the other end alive and not down crashed on the rocks below...way...way... below! We have holiday'd in Port Doublas a few times. Stayed at the Sheraton, what luxury that is... nowadays, Im too poor with all the ivf we've done and it would likely be in a caravan park next! hahahahahahahahaha

Now,. the NETI pot, its OK, but it dosnt flush the sinuses, it kinda runs through, but there is no pressure behind the water solution ... Im an expert on nose flushing now... I do it round 6 times a day since my nose operation..... which I may add, has been a shickingly painful experience.....migraines beyond belief, criplled in bed from the pain, on the good stuff OXYCONTIN for the pain. I am now day 3 of relief.... and its been day 10 post op..... still blowing out blood clots and sleep has been disturbed.... I went to chiro today and he cracked my neck and made me cry, oh geez, thats never happened before..... Im so tense, jaw clenched u know.....

So, I do read, but havent been able to respond, and I get caught up with the kids..... and I want another...... TOms not that keen on using a donor again. Im OK with it, but would be nice if I could at least push ONE more bubba out of my own. Ims till happy with what I got, ecstatic TBH..... and I was tested for this menopause and it seems Im nowhere near menopause and my FSH is in good shape..... but, the age of my eggs is still 43, but its done by you ladies, so why cant I eh???

OK, tea is waiting..... nite nite...RIta

Glad you finally got in. Don't know why your puter won't let you unless you told it not to accept cookies or something.
Have you found another donor Rita?
Gotta dash..Dane will be up for a feed in a min and I am dying for one last cuppa b4 he does.

That is sensational news Vicki. Enjoy the shopping spree, all the sweeter knowing how much you struggled while that money wasn't being paid.
Brittany's dad paid $20 a week for only one year out of the 18 years. CSA were absolutely hopeless and when I rang just before she turned 18 and asked what they intended to do about his debt they 'checked into it' and found something had gone wrong ten years back and the order had been dismissed accidentally. God love those incompetents! Funny, I had been ringing almost every year prior to that and they were making all sorts of noises about back payment.
Have fun with it gorgeous. Hope you get the rest of the balance owed some time soon.

I know the risk of chromosomal problems rises as you age but when you hear the stats like: 1 in 80 the emphasis is on the 1..the other 79 are having normal healthy bubs. It's a lottery I know..but :fingerscrossed: all goes well.

Hello, Obviously from my user name my name is Cathy. I have 2 girls, Grace 5 who has just started school and a second Isabella who is 2 and a half. I had DD1 at 42 and DD2 just after my 45th birthday. My husband and I married when i was 40 but had a delay due to the vasectomy reversal needing to be repeated.

I experienced one MC at 6 weeks, between my girls and they were both conceived naturally the old fashioned way. I am a SAHM who took the package after working for 23 years in IT.. Taken me 5 years to even remotely miss working.. we live in Sydney and my DH travels for work.. Until recently it was OS but now it is within Australia so at least we get to see him on weekends.. Getting a tiny bit sick of it..

Am on the internet a lot. I used to be on this site a lot at birth of my first daughter but have lost track of my user.. So need to start again..

I don't know if your mum wants you knowing yet how it happened Rita:laughing:.
We didn't use any IVF, meds, charting..nothing..just hoped and prayed that it would happen again (after the m/c in 2006).
I actually asked a clairvoyant on a local radio show (just after the m/c) and she confirmed I would have another boy.
If you believe in that sort of stuff.

Glad you made it over into this thread Cathy:yelclap:
How wonderful that you waited so long to start a family and had such a fantastic outcome:yes:. Did you get any negative comments from ppl when you said you were hoping for a bub after 40? That happens a fair bit..but I am thinking it will start happening less and less as we 40+ mums grow in number.
My grandmother had her 4th at age 43..and that was back in the 1930's and she had chronic diabetes. She gave birth on the kitchen table :)

Negative comments only came from my (Younger) sister who could not understand why I wanted to have children when hers were just growing up. So she could now go out to dinner and eventually travel.. I had already been out to dinner far too many times and we still do it occasionally it is just a bit more hectic than it used to be.. Not as relaxing but then I accept that.

We took the attitude if it happened we were lucky if it didn't we had decided on a time to move on with our lives, take an overseas assignment and travel. easier said than done.. says she at home with 2 miserable kids missing their dad..

Greetings again my dears, this time from what is actually Sunny England. We seem to have hit the jackpot the last couple of days with the weather - it has been gorgeous! It really is a jackpot in this country - so nice to be warm and in sandles and short sleeves (and shorts too, for that matter!). Today we have been off for lunch at Dh's aunty's place which was lovely. Genevieve entertained us all to the best of her abilities, she really is a doll these days.
This house is so english, its hilarious - I'm looking out the glass doors at the garden which is mowed with the "stripes" in it, so straight and green. I'm waiting for the fox to walk across the garden as if he owns the place. Across the road at the side are farm fields and at the front its a park and river, as you do. The fences are huge hedges, and the in-laws wouldn't have been out of place on The Good Life back in the day I'm sure.
Will be back again soon!

I remember turning up to Heathrow airport June 5th, in woolie jumper and skirt. As we approached our ladning the captain said that there was a train transport strike so my plans of train to town went out the window, so we used the bus, which took ages...and of course, of all days, it was an absolute scorcher and I was roasting, but had nowhere to go to change cos I had to cart around all my luggage and didnt want to get anything knocked off. It was a terribly long bus trip and in woolies, I was dying..... so yes, it does get hot in london town......

SOunds like you are haivng a wonderful time, your description of the garden is delightful.....

Got my info pack from the clinic. Lots of $$, but after I get $$ back from medicare, etc. OUt of pocket is around $1200.00... I can live with that. If we choose to do assisted hatching (recommended for older eggs cos embies have a tougher out shell and harder to hatch) an extra $400.... (am seriously considering this). THey also told me the oldest lady they have had thru their doors that has achieved a preg with her own eggs is 44, so Im not being ridiculous trying..... plus I had success two years ago at almost 42.... surely there must be one good egg left eh?

I joined a group on MSN called Fertility Friends over 40 and there are ladies trying TTC and having lots of success.....one way or the other.

I think we can give this a go eh? Perhaps in a months time... I want to ensure that my nose is OK, cos I need to sniff this stuff and I dont want to put anything there that may damage the healing...

So here we go eh?

Cheers, RIta

hi cathy!

hi to everyone else too, might head to bed soon, katie woke with that same cold from 430 till 630 then back till 830 so Im quite tired tonight...
good night for cuddles

oh and my af is now 12 days late!!!!! Neg tests so shes just being a ***** and late again like a few months back..Just hope its not pre menopausal as I still would like just one more.
time will tell..or if I get to gp for something else Ill get some bloods taken to see.

HBM
03-07-2008, 08:51
why not go get some bloods done to check what your hormones are to see if you are in fact peri-menopausal? Best indication is on 2nd or 3rd day of AF. This should answer all your questions.

They check for FSH, LH, Oestrogen, Progesterone. THey are the 4 major female hormones/ If you Oestrogen is low and FSH nad LH high, its an indication of menopause creeping up.

I had mine done mid cycle and my oestrogen was very high... that alone indicates im not near menopause, cos oestrogen needs to be really low, all the time..... its lowest just after AF arrives.

Your GP can do this test.....

Cheers, Rita

Mary: Wish I were there. We watch all the UK based shows about buying houses etc and I get really envious particularly if there are woods at the back of the property. It just sounds so ducky and reminds me of reading The Enchanted Wood as a kid..lol. Have a terrific time hon.

Vicki: I think I would die for the first week or so of going back to work..so used to plodding about at home. Are you enjoying it?
Hope the cold stays a cold hon.
Your AF and mine are playing funky games by the sounds of it. Mine wasn't late this time around, but hung on two days longer than usual..really light but very annoying.

Rita: In That's Life this week there is a mum who did 11 rounds of IVF to get her first bub at 47, then one round of IVF to get bub nr 2 at 50. It didn't say whether they were her eggs or not..but assumed they were.
Also talked about three other women:
One in Spain aged 66 who had twin boys (didn't say if she used IVF); An Aussie mum in the US who had quads at 55 (again, didn't say about IVF); and the QLD mum who has been in the news lately..46 and had triplets (already had 5 kids before)..all naturally conceived.
I reckon you just have to give it the best shot you can regardless of where your hormones are at. I have heard of a few women who had 'change of life' bubs at 50 or so. If it is meant to be it will happen. Won't know unless you try though.
I am standing beside Vicki as we walk the journey with you.

Cat: How are you gorgeous? Is all well with you? Come on back and let us know.

Cathy40's: Most ppl are pretty accepting about older mum's these days but it still feels strange when someone asks: "Is it yours?" lol.
Does your dh travel often? Mine doesn't but when he has to go on rare occasions I feel the loss hugely. I imagine your kids would too.

Ryllanne: How did the doctor visit go hon? Hope you come back and post soon.

Maria: Where have you got to lovey? How are the girls? What's news in your part of the world?

Leanne: How are you feeling hon? Are you getting tired yet? Hope you're resting.:hugs:

Shaz:  What's news with you these days?

Dane is growing well..still long and lean but starting to want to sit up and stand (with loads of help). He is eating well and says 'dadadadad' but no mumumumum yet :( . School hols start next week so I have to keep the kids busy..like most kids they don't cope well with bored.

Just a flying post. Have been stressing quite badly in the past week since Brittany told me the BF was offered a job in Mackay, QLD and she was going with him in a month. Anyhow, she rang this morning distraught because it appears he and his cousin did a runner last night.
I feel for her in a way but in another way I think he has done her a kindness. This afternoon she was starting to look ahead and make some plans for herself. I hope he stays away for good quite frankly.
Gotta love it when your kids become adults and you can't make their decisions for them..NOT! lol.

Am off to bed..so very tired after serving 400 kids their sausages in bread at the school today.
Hope everyone is keeping well.

ROFLMAO @ the idea of your cat sniffing your fertility meds:laughing:. Such a mind picture.
Oh dear Cat..so are they gorgeous kittens? (she asks knowing there is no such thing as an ugly one..hehehe). How many did she end up having?
I had a stray adopt me once and then gave birth. She only had the one..so then I had to spend tons at the vet to see if there were any others possibly stuck. Such a sucker for an animal in need.
So now you are a grandmother:yelclap:. I hope in time you will find lovely homes for them.

Cat - lord - kittens, how funny is that?? Good luck with them!
Amy - Canberra sounds like a barrel of fun weatherwise at the moment. Sorry to hear about your eldest dd's predicament, sound awful but perhaps a good thing.
Now I have to tell you my Beatrix Potter in the Burbs moment from today. This morning when I was looking out the window in inner-ish London I saw my s-i-l's neighbour fox climbing up and walking over the garage across the road - how funny is that? We stayed the night there, hence the peeking out at 5am when G woke up.
So, England is being very English. Genevieve is lapping up all the attention, and has been a real trooper with the travel and different locations, and meals out and strange beds. Must say she is getting more breast milk these days than she has for about 6 months - but its her bonus for being so good - and it means she (generally) gets to sleep quickly!! Which is our bonus!
Hugs to all of you!

Have you tried the fish and chips? I keep getting told they are better than what we get here.

He has been living in Scotland for the past two years and says the cost of living up there is crippling. Petrol sounds incredibly expensive..what kind of prices are they paying in England?

Petrol here is bizarrely expensive - will keep my eye out for an accurate costing.
Haven't had fish and chips this time - kind of been off the fried variety for ages now with the whole ww phenomena. But, they are good - but I think its a case of finding a good shop, like it is in Aus too.
Same with the chocolate, but hopefully that will be remedied soon. The pub lunch is alive and kicking, we were out in the beer garden in a gorgeous pub near my s-i-l's for lunch yesterday, and today we are all going out for a late lunch at a pub near here.
No hedgehogs yet this time but I am looking all the time. Did see a squirrel in the park yesterday but they can be a dime a dozen around here!

You couldn't guess how incredibly happy I am that Brittany's b/f left:cloud9::smiliedance::sunshine::yelclap:. She got word today that he has gone to QLD and isn't coming back. She is already making so many wonderful plans for her future..as if a weight has been lifted from her. Tonight her true friends are taking her out to a club. One of them has a thing for her..he is a copper!!Talk about going from one extreme to another..a crim to a copper...I know which one I would pick..lol.
Hey Rita did you see the report about the 70 year old woman in India just gave birth to twins thru IVF? They obviously don't have a cut off age there. 70!
Thanks for the clarification on the IVF drug..I just assumed it was for fertility..which probably would have made that leap even funnier :)

I think complaining about petrol prices is becoming a national past-time..and deservedly so. Scared that we won't be doing a Xmas run to QLD though if prices go much higher.

Hugs to you and your gorgeous girls.

Amy: Yep still loving my job! My bosses are also very dear friends now, Oh and 2 weeks ago a $150 bonus from them for no reason other than being a great worker and friend
Us: Just back from bed suite shopping.

My how married life has changed me LOL
Im so house proud now with all this new gear..very "wifey" hahha
Firstly about the spending spree..ABOUT TIME!! I still do reckon you walk a little taller :)
What fantastic bosses! No wonder you are staying.
Glad to hear all is well in your sector. Is Miss Katie all better now? And you?
*Touch wood* all is well here. Busy scrubbing out the window and sliding door tracks, cleaning fly spots on the ceiling, and scrubbing out the rangehood with a toothbrush. Why you ask? The landlord's son-in-law is coming back on Monday to inspect those things again:yes:.

Hugs. Have a wonderful weekend.

Petrol here is bizarrely expensive
Haven't had fish and chips this time - But, they are good -
The pub lunch is alive and kicking,Did see a squirrel in the park yesterday
I forgot about the WW but who needs f&c and chockie anyhoo..certainly no good f&c in Canberra..too far inland for anything fresh.

From what I watch of UK reality shows (like Selling Houses/ Property Ladder etc) the pub is a fantastic place to meet and mingle, however my brother was saying they are having a massive binge drinking problem with the young ones now. They have caught up with the Aussie way of going out to purposefully get as drunk as possible, rather than just enjoying themselves. Sad.
I think squirrels look so cute..but I have this thing about hedgehogs since I had a book about one as a kid..lol.
Keep on keeping on Mary. Thanks for sharing your adventures.

Hi Amy - I was sending you a note about 2 hours ago saying Millie had two. The reason I stopped was because she's just had a third, but the little thing didn't make it. Millie seems OK and is caring for the other two.

They are little tabby tigers like their mother, mostly black with grey racing stripes - lol. And thank you Ladies for all for your mirth! I rang the vet before and he could barely speak he was laughing so much. My parents on the other hand, don't think it's so hilarious.

And I have skipped a step - I was planning motherhood before grandmahood.

Vicki - my dear, dear Vicki. You like strays you say??? Your buying spree is making me green with envy and your new job and bosses sound wonderful. Well done.

Hi Rita - my first thoughts with Millie getting into my fertility drugs was clever girl - she doesn't have opposable thumbs, so I'm fairly confident she couldn't work the trigger injection.

Talk about one-upmanship!

Take care of all

Good morning, here we are settled in canberra for the week. I am on laptop that is really old fighting off the girls who want Dora.

Amy what do I do with 2 girls in Canberra we are in the CBD so I think a visit to the Canberra Centre today is a must. We forgot to bring nappies for DD2(Isabella) she is 2y 8 months and hating toilets..

Mary -My DH is Dutch so was so surprised at the cheap petrol here when he arrived, though totally disgusted in the petrol consumption of his work car. (been here 10 years) sounds lovely, England is so different, though looking out the window at the rain Canberra is a little different too.

Cathrine - I read a thing a that said all kids should see puppies being born. My sister experienced her cat having kittens in her bed when she was about 9.. My mum was away and my dad had to cope with it I just buried my head..I was 10..

Suppose I better get my girls moving. The best thing i purchased was a $2.50 clip board for them each and a ream of coloured paper with new textas.. keeps them so busy..

Must admit my AF gave me a fright this month and last year the same was about 10 days late. Bought a test and worried.. It was negative and I was a lot relieved but a little sad. AF when it arrived was pretty heavy.

Better go .. Might need to put the email alert on a bit more frequently than weekly :)

Hello Cathy..didn't know you were coming to town. I would have rolled out the red carpet..lol. So many things to take kids to but anything outdoors was out of the cards today due to the rollicking rain. Haven't checked the forecast for tomorrow but suspect much of the same.
There is the National Museum, National Gallery, Questacon (science museum..oh so fun)...then there is Gold Creek up at Hall where they have the Dinosaur museum, a reptile museum, a miniature village with miniature golf. There are a few indoor play centres scattered around town.
Also Regatta Point has an information centre that has many displays about the birth of Canberra..I love going there..good cafe too. When it is sunny it is wonderful as you have the lake; Capt Cooks's Jet (water shooting from lake up into air about 100m); the parkland there that houses Floriade in Spring; the Carillion..tons of stuff.
Have you access to a car? Which part of town are you in? You are more than welcome to come and visit while you are in town.
Hope some of that helps.

Hi Vicki - we will find homes for them, mainly because I'm away half the year and my parents were suckered into Millie in the first place. The vet has said he wants one so we only have one that needs to find a good home.

Hi Cathy - I think I half agree with you about children seeing births, but from someone who can vomit on the spot after hearing a graphic story, I'm not the best midwife - lol.

Hi Amy - is Regatta Point the place with the indoor / outdoor cafe right on the lake?

Have a good week

Hi Cathy - I think I half agree with you about children seeing births, but from someone who can vomit on the spot after hearing a graphic story, I'm not the best midwife - lol. I don't know about seeing puppies born but my kids all came in to see Dane being born. I don't think ds1 will ever be the same again..but heck, you've gotta have something to talk about at future counselling so it should give him at least an hour's worth:laughing:..and how dd1 still looks me in the eye after filming the least attractive part of me I'll never know..although I guess it is easier looking me in the eye ..lol. She probably still has flashback nightmares.

Hi Amy - is Regatta Point the place with the indoor / outdoor cafe right on the lake? Yeah that's the one hon! Did you go there last time you were in town? I just love meandering around down at the lake. Let me know when you are coming back again and we can do coffee:yelclap:.

OK..I am off and out. I am so very tired from all the cleaning..and to top it all off..the darned son-i-l of the owner was incredibly nice today... He fixed the things that needed attention and happily replaced the absorbent mat in the rangehood that dh melted when he had the chips up too high:eek: (he only knows one setting on the stove..burn-the-arze-out-of-the-pan-high!).

Then the owner strolled up to say he would buy and lay pavers for our sideway (dh had asked permission last week for us to do it)..how awesome for him to offer like that. Now if we could just win the lottery and buy our own place.:D..or if we could find a 3 bedder for $300K (prolly have more chance of winning the lottery..lol).

Hugs to all..night night.

Move to Hervey Bay and you too can have a 3 bedder plus a decent size of land, for under 300 thousand, and be warmer at night!

But, keep buying those lottery tickets, someone has to win!

I got my results today for my day 2 FSH.
My FSH was 6, My LH was 5 and my oestrogen was 90....Nurse was mighty impressed! So it looks ok for another stab..... I have a dildo scan on Wednesday morning..... havent seen one of them for a while, or anything that remotely resembles that for friggen ages!:p

I don't understand the blood results..lol..but it sounds like you feel confident so :yelclap::smiliedance:and:fingerscrossed:. Not sure I would be excited about the internal scan though (hate those things..ewww).

I am shocked when you say Hervey Bay is so cheap because I heard the market was overheating there forcing ppl to buy in Bundaberg to get a cheaper deal. Mind you, Bundaberg is getting up there now too from what the in-laws tell me.

A small block (600sq) goes for $300k in Canberra:hair: so we would have to live in a cardboard box..lol. We did a search last night for areas in NSW surrounding the ACT and found a small block about half an hour away that was cheap. Thought about buying out that way and putting a kit home on it. With petrol getting so expensive though it may not be worth it: getting to schools/work etc.
The only other option is I return to work and then we can borrow way more..but with childcare costs for three kids I don't know if it would be worth all the trouble frankly.
So frustrating.

Best go, bub is awake.

We are staying in the CBD Civic .. so I have been to Canberra Central, meeting a friend at Borders today..hope the rain stays away.. Might find that coffee shop near the lake.. We joined the Questacon when we came in June as I think we may be spending a few weekends here. DH is working here Mon to Fri and rides his Harley down every Monday Morning.. We are coming back next week on Thursday for the weekend to avoid the WYD so maybe the weather will improve then.. Drove past the Questacon this morning looked packed..

Regatta point must remember..

DH comes from Den Hague, but we have been to Delft very pretty I think his family have spent some time there.. His BIL went to uni there?? I family are still all there.. so we have been a couple of times.. so much more expensive with two children..

Hi Vicki - if kitten number 2 is as clever as it is cute, it may find it's home here. My father who has been ranting about the situation has been caught on his knees cooing at the kittens and rearranging them when they fall off a nipple. Millie just has a bemused look on her face.

The other good thing is that a girlfriend has told half of work and a lot of hands have gone up so I may auction her off - lol.

Hi Amy - I love the location of Regatta Point and the food, but the service was shocking. Fortunately we were just lounging in the sun, but if you had to be somewhere after lunch, you'd be seriously late.

I'm sitting here thinking that you should always give your offspring some psychological trauma. However, I'm not sure I'll be able to look you in the eye..........

I WISH!! We keep asking him to sell it to us as we are in a great area and it is a courtyard home (about 400sq metres of land) so will be cheaper than a full sized block and maybe just in our price range.
He was a builder and built 40 houses that he rents out around town, plus a few office buildings as well. He says he won't sell as maintaining them is his career now since he retired a few years ago.
Thanks for the possible heads-up though.

Wow, snow!

IT has to be snowing somewhere cos even up here in Hervey Bay, its damn cold! We havent really had any really cold days yet, bu today would have to count as maybe #1 or #2. Air con on for sure today...whoe is me the electricity bill! (we have reverse cycle ducted, cost a small fortune to run - big house).

I had dildo scan today, felt like razor blades being twisted round and round inside, but I have thrush, so I imagine down there is quite irritated...after the poking around upstairs was quite irriated herself!

So, today is pill day #1!. Two weeks of this then a period and I start, then two weeks after that EPU!. Ill be in the 2WW on my birthday...hope its a good omen!

I have been on TWO courses of antibiotics to shake this blocked nose, not only for thepost surgery, but there is a cold in there somewhere and I swear, I cant shake it! I blow my nose constantly! I thought the nose op would fix me, alas, still got the blocked nose, but from something else now! So dont go giving me hugs, even hubby wont come near me! WHich is just as well with the razor blades downstairs and the boogers upstairs, Im a VISION of sexyness!

OK, this room is cold...going back to warm room and tv and a cuppa coffee, can u beleive I havent even had one today being in such a rush for the dildo cam rendevouz!:bee:

Have you tried natural yoghurt on a tampon for the thrush? I've only had it twice after I've had a certain antibiotic but the yoghurt worked both times.
As to the dildo cam: does that qualify as sex for the week? Glad the results were good and you can move forward again.
Bummer about your nose..it is pretty soon after the surgery so hopefully once you get well again it will be the last you will see of sinusitis..but sadly not colds/flu's I guess. And on that topic..what athlete in their right mind would want to go to a country that reckons it is cultivating a pandemic version of bird flu?..and have you seen the pollution over Beiijing? They'll all have respiratory problems. Yoiks.

Best be off. Lachie has gone out for the day with a friend and his family..and Selia is begging me to fry up some Aldi chicken and ham log..gotta love the day b4 payday..scratching for snacks.
Enjoy your coffee and heating. Mine is always set to 17C so Dane's little nose doesn't freeze.

Gosh Id love a boybee likeyours. DOne girls twice, would like a chance at having a boy baby! I have a name already....

I have been using the canesten cream and it worked, but I got AF and bit hard to put stuff up there when you are trying to stem the flow coming in the other direction! But, all that is over so I will get back to the proper regime for thrush. I swear I scratched it so bad, and it felt so good and it bled and now when I pee, razor blades! I just cant hlep myself when it gets so itchy... but today is the "on the mend" day....

Yes, I saw the pollution, scarey stuff! No wonder the athletes just want to fly in day before. DId you hear they are going to close an area equal to Vict and NSW industry to stop the pollution in the air. Imagine that eh? China is just so huge..... in population and industry, and some of the industry there makes a lot of smoke haze, I forget which one they said now, but its pretty bad. BIt like how Newcastle used to be when the iron works were in operation. NOw its just beautiful....

Yeah I heard they are going to shut down industry like two weeks beforehand..but heck..do they think it will all magically disappear? I would be worried about lead/mercury/acetates still floating about in the air or in the water or settled on things you touch. It actually makes me quite sick to think that our western industries that send their work offshore are responsible for that pollution..anyways:ecomcity:..that is a debate for another forum.

Hi Amy - that sounds like a plan! Less work for him to do.

Hi Vicki - Dad was on the prowl this morning. He advised that he was concerned that 1 kitten is bigger than the other and that he was going to weigh them. I asked why and he intends to manipulate the feeding so our little stripey porkie has less feeding time so he evens their weight up (did I mention he's a retired engineer with too much time on his hands).

Anyway I was disturbed to see Mum's kitchen scales on the counter when I left this morning, but then probably not as disturbed as she would be if she knew there would be a kitten sitting in them.

Any hoo, one is 20% heavier, so while Dad is playing God, I'll be the Devil's Advocate and when he's not looking, even up the score. Sigh.

Take care

hello all..... another week down....another week older...ho hum!

Well, this week, I had a counseling session, govt funded scheme, I get 12 per year. She was a lovely lady, wish I had her around all the time! Well, the poison Ive been bottling up for so long all came out, all of course to do with my mum and my brother. Married life didnt even get a mention cos theres no worries there. I have been experiencing anxiety attacks lately. We have pinpointed when they started, and its been over 20 years ago, yet only now the stresses are manifesting themselves physically. I had another little flutter thisafternoon, started to feel my heart race and I am trying to do the controlled breathing to slow myself down. All I was doing was stuffing some tomatoes with mince and rice...nothing special, so I talked myself thru the panic..... Anyway, its a long road to betterness, rome wasnt built in a day, so Im trying to make myself better on the inside.

Hubby went to Sunny Coast today to produce his "sample" for testing. WIll hear back Monday if all OK. I have started the pill for two weeks, the ball is rolling!

Tomorrow a friend of my daughters is coming to play....for most of the day, so Im thrilled about that, she has been bored during the hollies!

Ive had the air con on most of the day yesterday and today, damn its cold!

I hope you are all fareing well. Im lookin gforward to a good nights sleep, daughter usually sleeps inour king size bed on a Friday but I swear, I never get a good nights rest, so I have swapped with her and Im sleepingin her king single, brand new, pillow top mattress...... its gonna be goooooooood!

I went to get some bloods done last saturday. I had a few different tests to do so I figured Id go to QML, one jab, all tests done... the report I needed done was specific (has to do with my immune stuff and pregnancy). I usually get it done by S&N pathology, they do it perfect. QML totally stuffed it up, I had to wait 5 days to find out results were wrong, so I went again to S & N yesterday and had blood drawn AGAIN! This time Ill get what I need. How can one lab not do the tests I want, say it cant be done, when the other one does it perfect??? Cant figure it out, but what I do know is I will go to S & N from now on for blood tests.... its friggen crazy!:hair:

Cheers, Rita

Rita: So glad you have discovered the source of the anxiety and now have some coping strategies.
It's so good to offload.
:fingerscrossed: all goes well with the sample and you get some great blood results. I agree that some pathologists are better than others. I found a good one that I stick to as they usually find the vein first time.

Vicki: No such thing as service anymore hon. It's all self service these days. Remember when you got driveway service at the bowser and it didn't cost any more than self service? *sigh*. I must be old..lolol.
Enjoy the new stuff..can't wait to see the pics.

Cat: God love your dad for caring so much:yelclap:.
Where are you at in terms of your ttc journey now?

Supermum10/12: You really are a supermum hon. Your kids are lucky to have you.
As to older and younger kids..I don't think the older ones forget what it is like to be a young one I just think they go through that self-absorbed period during their teens where they think their needs are greater than anyone else's. In my eldest dd's case she had been an only child for so long that having young siblings frustrated her..she felt she had lost my full attention..which is normal I guess. She forgets though how I used to wake the babies so I could drive her across town to her Pizza Hut job at all hours of the night..and how I would drop everything to find her the right dress for the formal etc. Hopefully one day they can look back and realise they were still loved.

Dane got his first tooth yesterday:smiliedance: and part of the second one is poking through the gum already. Hopefully he can settle a bit now until the top ones start coming.
It is literally freezing here this morning (minus 5) and there is snow on the mountains around. We might take a run up to our favourite snow covered peak to let the kids have a play in it. They have already played with the frozen puddles outside. Just a bugger to get washing dry in one day here..usually hangs out there for two as the sun is so weak.

Hugs to all. Stay well or get well..and have a great weekend.

Amy:)

Hi Rita - that's great that you have someone that you are comfortable chatting with. Hope it's onwards and upwards for you.:fingerscrossed:

Hi Vicki - fortunately Dad has dropped that plan. A friend of his has said not to interfere (heaven help if he listens to his daughter!) Anyway he's off on another tangent. One of the kittens looks like an escapee so he shot off this morning to buy some timber and he's building a playpen (from the plans it looks like a prison), so that will keep him out of mischief tomorrow.

I hope you put everything together properly! You don't want to hear a crash in the night - lol.

Hi Amy - waiting for AF to arrive (probably tomorrow) and then in 21 days if my refund has come through, I'll start treatment again.

Just getting the house organised before the onslaught of a young Irish cousin and a band of his friends who are here for World Youth Day. I think they'll be fairly well behaved, but I suspect I'll be eaten out of house and home. Note to self: buy lots of potatoes - lol.

Take care all

Lol at the laying in of prairties (think I am way off with the spelling..I guess being a Catholic celebration I could have spelled it prayer-tees)..hehehe.
Friends have taken in billets from Papua New Guinea..a few nuns. Can you imagine how cold they were turning up last night at 2am still wearing their tropical clothing..yikes! The local church rallied with some donated winter clothes thankfully.
So the poor kittens are about to be incarcerated? At least they will be safe and that is all that matters. How do you think your dad will fare in a few months time when the kittens leave home? It sounds like he needs a pet to care for.
Good luck getting your return back in time and forging on with the next round. What has the experience been like to date? Do the medications screw with your body?

Best away to bed. I have been catching up with a few episodes of Big Love that I taped but didn't have the chance to watch until now. Does anyone else watch it? I really love that show..prolly something to do with me being a lapsed Mormon... If only they would sanction smoking and drinking tea..so hard to give up.

Hugs to all,
Amy:)

Hi Amy - full marks for the prayer-tee pun!!! I was going to say prairties, but have no idea how to spell it so opted for potatoes. Will adopt your spelling in future!

I heard yesterday that despite being told, lots of people from the Pacific nations and Africa have rocked up in t-shirts. Welcome to Sydney in July - not! Did you hear about the poor group from Africa that thought Adelaide was a suburb of Sydney? If they don't make it here, hopefully they'll find the Barossa - lol. Was it 2.00am in Sydney or Canberra for your PNG nuns?

Yes, the kittens will be incarcerated tomorrow. All we need now is some water and it will look like Alcatraz. And I hate being used as ballast when I have to stand on something that Dad is sawing.....

Their eyes are almost half open, but we're relatively safe at the moment because they are still so wobbly. They make a mad dash for freedom and then just land in a heap.

I've had no ill effects from the medication at all. My main concern at the beginning was having to inject myself so I teed up a girlfriend to do it for me, but it wasn't a problem after the first one. I have heard it can really stuff people around, but I suppose it depends on what drugs or dosage people are using or if they are particularly sensitive. Fortunately the whole process has been relatively easy for me. Except for coming up with more creative lies at work for time off.

I love Big Love! I've missed a few episodes in this series. I'd make a hopeless Mormon -you've just mentioned some of my favourite vices. And I couldn't be a Big Love wife - I won't share my toys - lol. I love that almost all religions have something quirky to them whether it's food or dress or customs. There's a uni subject I'm looking at called World Religions, I think that would be really interesting. I think if I created a religion, we wouldn't last very long before we died out. Vices would be included!

Have a lovely day and talk to you later.

No..I didn't hear about them but the wine will warm them up :)
The PNG nuns came in on Fri night to Syd but then had to bus it to Canberra. Got in around 2:30am in short sleeves and it was minus 5 here!! They, and another few women are being billeted at a friend's house.

I am such a sucker for baby animals. God got it right..he made them so darned cute that you can't help but want to protect them:cloud9:.

I love Big Love! I've missed a few episodes in this series
Dang! Wish I had read this before deleting the episodes I watched:hair:. The two I watched last night were about Margies mum coming to visit; and in the second episode trouble brews when Bill's mum starts laundering money through a laundromat, and Roman gets shot right at the end. I have another one or two yet to catch up on. That Bill Paxton is just gorgeous *hubba hubba*.:D.

Been a long cold day today. I went out to buy Dane a high chair that clips to the table. I tried to visit Brittany but her phone was off and no-one in her unit heard me knocking on the front door. Rang her tonight and she is coming to see me tomorrow.
Dane is less than happy with the teething situation so is taking a lot of comforting..poor bub.
Best go..he hasn't gone off to sleep yet.

Greetings from Chicago! Late night here (well, late for a mum of a toddler!) and I am looking out over the city skyline pinching myself. Really can't believe we are here. Tomorrow we are changing hotels to be closer to the action, and will do some sightseeing. We had a great time with the relo's in Vancouver, managed to have a day trip up to Whistler (gorgeous) a trip up Mt Grouse which has Vancouvers own ski fields and an afternoon child free in the city with Dh. Yes, my "aunty" cousin volunteered to look after G and it was great. She (the cous) is such a Grandma in Waiting, I hope her daughter comes forth with the goods before too long.
Amy - yes, we did see a hedgehog in the garden before we left the in-laws
cat - have fun with the Irish lads, hope they're not too famished!!

Hello again from Chicago, where we are now in our second hotel - and this will make you laugh Amy - its the one where Oprah's guests stay! That wasn't the reason I chose it - the separate bedroom was the clincher - Genevieve can sleep and we can have the lights on! Actually she is pretty good in that regard ie sleeping through light and noise, but it makes a difference to have a living room! So, in answer to your question - we're not going to a taping of Oprah, fun though it would be I don't know how much they'd appreciate G!! Tomorrow we are off on a river and lake cruise and to the Chicago Art Institute. Yay!!

Anyway, I'm Amy. I'm 45 and have four kids ..21, 7, 6, 6mths.
Look forward to getting to know you as time goes on.

Cat: I was going to bail on this season of BL 'cause I missed a few eps..but then thought I might be able to catch up. It is such a quality show..surprised to see Tom Hanks has his finger in that pie (as an assoc producer or exec producer or whatever). I think I will end up with the box set too:)

Having a cr4ptacular day today with teething waking us a few times last night; bored kids on school hols etc..
I did something so startling that I am still wondering what possessed me...I let the kids go to the park by themselves today:eek:!!!!! (about a three min walk and one street to cross).
They were absolutely stir crazy and driving me bonkers when I made the suggestion (several of Lachie's classmates walk and ride around our area alone).
They had only been gone about ten minutes when I had doubts, put Dane into the pram and followed them. I was only going to sneak a look from the main road but I couldn't see them on the play equipment anywhere..the place was empty *eeek*. My head reeled with terrible thoughts as I hurried along the path into the park. Got right to the equipment and still no kids. A minute later they broke cover from some trees. It seems Selia had trotted off toward the bike track and Lachlan then had to shepherd her back toward home.

What do you think? Should I ever let them go to the park alone again? They will be champing at the bit but I am feeling too scared now.

Ok..off and out.

Hi Amy - I think a BL catchup is easier when we have all the disks and can watch them at our leisure. I had no idea Tom H was involved, but he does strike me as a cluey guy and I've finally cottoned onto the fact that HBO in the US is producing the most amazing stuff. He'll still be Forrest for me though - lol.

I think a play in the park solo for the kids is great. And if you and Dane want a stroll for fresh air... it's all good!

Hi Vicki - I was lucky because as an older kid we got a dishwasher. Mum's aim was to stop my brother and I from fighting about who would wash and wipe. It didn't occur to her that we would continue it to who would pack and unpack! I'm still fond of them though. Kids are such pains in the A!

Selia is crook today and losing her voice. We pray that it goes completely so we can have peace for the first time in almost 7 years:laughing:.

Hello back in canberra again but only until Monday.. It is cold.

Faceless my name is Cathy Ilive in Sydney and have two girls one when I was 42 and the second when I was 45.. They are growing so fast. It is unusal to have a group of older mums though I do have a few older mum friends..

I currently have a friend who has been doing IVF for ages to conceive her second child they finally had one that stuck but looks like the NT came back 1:2.. (she is in her mid 30's) I am a bit upset about it as it was actually so easy for me... I did not have an NT as I have seen so many go through this I had 2 CVS's regardless of what I would do I needed to know.. I have another friend who had a 1:3200 in her early 30's and she was the one.. we jsut don;t know. On that downer I have to get off the computer as my 5 year old wants to go to the Cats and Dogs site..

I did the NT for both my girls, 2nd came back with a 1 in 700 )roughly), that was combined with the serum testing of my blood. You cant rely totally on that test, its just an indicator, not a definitive answer. The nuchal fold is also important to take note of, if its thin, things look good. BUt I know of a lassie who was very young, doing donor egg also and the nuchal fold came back high risk and the follow up tests (called F I S H ) showed all was OK, thats just a blood test from what I recall, not invasive.

So much fog here thismorningm cant see the street!

I start my jabs on the 30th! (11 days). Im on this pill called MONOFEME and I swear, I feel totally revolting on it, always on the verge of wanting to chuck. I have to stick to bland foods cos too much flavour confuses and upsets my stomache. BUt I stop this pill next saturday so Il start feeling better in a week! or perhaps only for a short time cos Ill be up the duff (lets pray). A doctor yesterday gave me stats and told me I had a less than 10% chance of success and if I ws 46, the odds were 1:1000.... dont ya love those docs with the pessimistic attitude? I got Kyra with a less than 10% chance, in fact I was quoted less than 8%.

What do they know eh?

Firstly..yes, it is jolly cold..and jolly wet too..lol. I was driving along at 10:30 this morning when the radio announcer told me it was 4C..boy, could I feel it too!
As to your friend..how on earth did she take that news? That would be a tough one.
I was given low-ish results with Dane. The lady doing the NT scan said anything under 1:300 warranted further investigation and I ended up with something like 1:160. I didn't have any other tests due to the risk of m/c but my doctor thought my results were fine for my age anyways. At 44 the risk is usually 1:20. If I were given a 1:2 chance then I prolly would have had further testing though.
OK..best go and turn the ducted heating up..18 just isn't cutting it today..lol..think I will bump it up to 20.

Ive always worked the odds, always to my disadvantage, but it so far, has been successful.:fingerscrossed:

Im popping pills now, the prednisone, Im on a decent dose and it has side effects, mostly, it takes your aches and pains away and Im not complainign about that, thats for sure!!! It also makes you more pro-active, it kinda puts a firecracker up your butt and motivates you to do stuff! Okay, you retain fluid and it makes you hungry, but if you can keep a lid on it and control yourself at least as far as food intake goes, once you stop the drugs the weight disappears, but if you have increased the calories, that will remain behind! (and I mean your BEHIND!)

FOG...yes, its romantic, I like it also, providing I dont have to drive either. Its funny cos, when we go to do our IVF we have to drive down to Sunny Coast and its a two hour drive and we have to be there for a 6.30 start at the hospital and I swear, driving through the fog at night is frightening! Cos we need to leave so damn early that day.

Oh dear, Im feeling a teensie bit excited! Can it happen? Will God bless me again? For a while I felt I couldnt do this again, but Im feeling pretty good now. I dont know if we could go through using a donor, our outlook and experiences of late have changed our feelings. But, lets not go there now, Im trying now and its not impossible to happen eh! My FSH is low so Ill at LEAST get a fw eggies to get fertilised, who knows, perhaps one of them will be a real goer!:fingerscrossed::fingerscrossed::fingerscross ed: Only want one more, not asking for too much I dont think!

Sorry, rambling again!

Bye ladies... stay safe and warm...

Brittany was on Prednisone for asthma as a little one, very high doses too. Somewhere around 8yrs old she began getting the classic steroidal moon face and chunky body and wasn't growing. I was told that once she stopped taking it her body would go back to normal after three years.
I got the doctor to replace the Prednisone with something less harmful. Three years later, over the summer holidays just b4 she started high school all the weight dropped off in a six week period and she was back to being petite. She grew about six inches in record time too, as if to catch up.
It is a mighty powerful drug.

What you are asking for is so unselfish Rita:hugs:. I wish I had a crystal ball to be able to give you a definitive answer. All I can say is: Have hope! Sometimes our dreams really do come true. I am sure you already know that from the very first time you got a BFP with Sabrina:yes:.

Cold and miserable here today..well I was..but the weather was ok..lol.
Took boybee back to the doctor to enquire about a rash..ends up being some form of viral rash that worsens as he gets warm. It was all over him at 5:30 this morning, red and hot too.

Wanted dh to come home early tonight so we could get takeaway as the sinus headache won't let go of me.. but he just rang to say he needs to work on a bit longer:hair:. I shouldn't be too cross as he did come home for a few hours so we could take bub to his appt.

Have you tried Rhinocort Nasal Spray, over the counter. Two puffs each nostril twice a day... it will ease the stuffiness...OR, you could have an operation HAHAHAHAHAH, and suffer like I did????

THat rash sounds dreadful. Kyra has this fanny rash, treid it all till we decided it could be thrush, so canesten to the rescue, cleared up, but its still itchy. WIll take her to doc me thinks.....

Damn this rain! Girl Guides camp postponed yet again! Curse it to hell!

Im still on hte pill till saturday, then I stop... start sniffing synarel on Tuesday, FSH injections added wednesday and we are then cooking!

How horrid that the FISH test took so long for a result.... id be panicking big time! I dont understand how you wrote the odds 1:2, does that mean 50% chance of downs?

I know I got a fat **** OK...but it so chilled I need a hot water bottle to warm the side bits HAHAHAHAHA

Just had roast pork with crackling and roast vegies YUMMO... now, to find something sweet and tasteeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Ciao for now, going to warm room to warm my **** up!

Sorry for being so cryptic.. yes after her NT scan she was told there was a 50% chance her baby had Downs.. I suppose there is a 50% chance the bub is OK as well.. It was a harrowing time as has had a tough time lately.. Thought they changed IVF clincs and this is the first to make it this far..

News on about that bub in Shepparton.. poor little thing..

Hi!
Have been trying to post here with an internet connection that keeps disappearing, very dull.
Cat an NT scan is a nuchal translucency scan which is a detailed ultrasound that measures the bub in all sorts of places to find out the risk of downs syndrome, not invasive so a first choice for finding out these things for a lot of women.
I will be having mine in about 2 weeks time as I am 9 weeks pregnant with what appears to be a little bean who is matching my dates. Yesterday we had a dating scan just to make sure we were all on track and the bub was fine. Such a relief to have jumped the first hurdle, especially after having that m/c at 9 weeks at the end of January. We have our first appointment with our ob next week - I am looking forward to seeing him again as he is a really nice guy. And he makes me laugh as he is so Chinese. All the way along with Genevieve he was telling me not to worry about my age, and when I saw him for the post-baby check-up we were talking about the next baby, and he was like, wait 6 months then get on with it, you're not getting any younger! He was right of course, though we did wait more than 6 months to start trying again as I wanted to lose some of that weight.
So, theres my news.
Hope all is well with all of you!

I read that story last night. I really hate reading stuff like that about babies..too heartbreaking.
As to your friend..will she have a cvs or amnio? I remember reading a post by someone on another site who was given the same odds but all worked out fine in the end.
Hope it works out fine for your friend too.

Nice sunny day here today. Hopefully tomorrow is the same to get the washing cleared.

Just ride it out. She wasn't entirely sure what it was but it does get worse with heat and laying in the one position. He wakes with it all over him.

Yes My friend with the 1:2 result (after the blood test and a 4.09m nuchal fold) was given the all clear for the fish results.. I had scans but jumped straight to CVS's both times..too stressful waiting any longer..

Must admit it is very difficult after a MC to be relaxed about a pregnancy.. I had my very first pregnancy when I was 1 month off 42. Must admit I was surprised when my Dr spoke about the next one. I was not relaxed about any pregnancy until the bub was in my arms.. I had a MC at 44(6 weeks)then fell pregnant again and DD2 was born when I was 45.. I kept getting asked when I was having another.. With DH travelling so much I was not going to have 3 children under 4 on my own 60% of the time..

I think he would like another but at nearly 48 I think it is too late... :)

Never say never Cathy..lol.

I agree with worrying after a m/c..I was a hopeless worrywart through Dane's pgcy and yet I had been so incredibly blase with the others. It sure makes the end product sweeter when you have known such sadness. I am so incredibly in love with him..he can do no wrong (until he turns two or so..).

I personally am done with having babies. Although my heart would love another, my body is saying no way! Finally things are starting to heal, although I still have issues with joints and my left foot, but they are better than they were a few months ago.
I reckon another five years or so and I will be pushing dd1 to give me a grand-baby. She is not receptive at this point in her life..but who knows in five years she might be..hehehe.

Hugs,
Amy:)

Now nothing till Tuesday which is my synarel sniff day!

Here we go... Ive had some really positive vibes being sent my way from the other board I am on (which I havent shared the news cos its an egg donor board), just privately, so it feels good to know there are others out there barracking for me! Havent shared it with too many people, I think perhaps just you guys know and 3 other ladies...

Amy - good question about the travelling and first trimester!! I am in a much better physical state now than I was when I was pg with Genevieve - that time I found I was pg whilst in England for our Wedding Celebration there. Then we were in Paris for a week, and Barcelona for a week, then China for a fortnight, and I don't think you'd have heard a bigger whinger on the Left Bank than me that week, and as for the smells of cooking in Barcelona, I never thought you could conjure up real smell memories. I have to say I did catch as many afternoon naps whilst G was down as I could along the way - but not as exhausted by any measure. And it seems I have skipped the first trimester dreadful cold this time (I had it in January) which is a relief.
So it seems the weight watchers and gym membership have been worth it with the better energy levels.

We are with you all the way hon and are hopeful along with you. I have learnt alot already.

I must try me some of that diet and exercise. I have always been big but in proportion. After Dane's pgcy I have become pear shaped:crying:..my hips have spread.
I can only imagine what those cooking smells did to you. I don't get ms but when I was pg with my first I threw up at the smell of garlic cooking..and I looove garlic.
Glad you are feeling energised this time around.

hahahaha re the smelling and sneezing. THey say if you sneeze 5 minutes after your sniff, you must sniff again..... but my nose is SOOOOO much better now, I reckon the synarel will travel right to the correct place in light speed now! The nose doc said that the syanrel could well improve the condition of my nose also! So YAY for that too!

I too did nothing but worry all the way thru Kyra pregnancy. I hired the doppler and listened to her heartbeat from as soon as I could hear it! I found I bonded a lot more with Kyra than with Sabrina, but I got to come home with Kyra, with Sabrina it was 3 weeks back and forth at the hospital, I was SOOOO naieve! You cant take anything for granted until you got that babe in your arms breathing, wriggling and balling! Man, I bawled like a baby when I heard her cry, I had uncontrollable shakes and Tom thought I was kinda OTT! baaagh!, how can he truly know how I felt, Id lost 3 babies in between, even though he was there with me, I was the one going thru the inner torture. anyway....

This time round the pill only made me slightly crampy, perhaps cos Im so busy planning this cycle Ive not noticed as much????

I got very very ill wiht Morning sickness and Sabrina, I was lighter after I gave birth than when I started. 4 months of gut wrenching wretching! I still have a slight aversion to sweet chilli sauce (I can picture the meal and it makes me want to spew)..8 years later OMG!!!

WIth the prednisone I am on, it has the anti morning sickness effect. You dont get all that ill, its the same drug they give to people going thru chemo to suppress the nausea..... so last time with Kyra, I wasnt too bad at all.....

In two weeks time, my ovaries will be almost ready for plucking! What will be, will be.....

We just had an early dinner, everyone seemed hungry, but I was quite revolted, guess I wasnt all that hungry, but I could go a chocolate cake!

Kyra slept less than an hour today and I swear, she is making us PAY this arvo! On top of all that I jsut went to run the bath and dammit, no hot water. I think our solar panels arent working up to speed, I just had to push the booster and its been sunshine all day long!

Tonight on Disney Channel is Hanna Montana in 3D, so I have to sit there with funny glasses on and watch the show... I might record it on DVD and keep it for her for whenever she wants....at the moment, its all Hanna Montana....

ciao for now.....Rita

I'm lucky I don't get ms as such, just general tiredness (but can't complain - I think its normal if you have a baby all ready) and the power of smell! But I seem to have an iron stomach, I feel like a Seinfeld episode in that regard, I can basically put a date on the last time I chucked back in 1991. Fascinating really.
Rita Hanna Montana in 3d sounds like an experience on a Saturday night! Managed to watch my first episode ever whilst away.
I have to say G has no interest in the tv at all yet. She looks at it in amazement for about 3 minutes if its on when she's up. I don't think she can really believe it does something other than sit in the corner of our living room. Bit like her Dad in that regard.
Dinner is nearly ready so I must away - yay for a dh who likes to cook!

My name is Cordu I used to post on the Dec 06 thread as I have a DS (Jasie) which was born on Xmas 06.

(QC)Mary do you remember me!! BTW big congrats on your pregnancy , very glad for you!

Yesterday I found out that I am pregnant with bubba #2 as I got a :bfp: ( more of a Big Faint Positive)at my GP. But a line is a line isn't it?
I used some cheap ebay ones and the lines was so faint....
It is still early days as I am just 4 weeks and a bit according my calculation, so bubba would be due something beginning of April.
There is no Due April 09 thread yet!!

I was suspecting it as I have all day sickness . bloating etx since more than a week now!
Today was a bit better as I snack all day

Hope this bubba will stick and will be healthy as I am bit scared because of my "old" age.

Looking forward to chatting and getting to know you all!

Oh amy, by no means is the ex decent!!! He has been forced to pay this back money. No lodgement of taxes for 6 yrs because his point of view is that if he doesnt do it then I dont get it. Hes a total @ss that one, even bigger than ds1's who never paid a cent or seen him since he was 3yrs old.
ANYhow enough of those 2 ratbags

Bad news!
I think we have just lost "the stig" ( our cat of 1 yr ) As we went outside to get into the car we heard a almighty thud and screech of tyres and saw something black go flying..yes he hit a black cat he said..NO sign of stig yet but hes usualy gone till about 9ish so fingers crossed it wasnt him...there is about 2 other black cats here in the street.
I checked in the direction of where he went but couldnt find anything..he was hit REALLY hard, hard enough to break the guys under light cover and send that flying too.
If it was him I do hope it was quick and painless and hes not laying somewhere in the rain hurt :(
Thats whats eating at me right now..Im off to have another walk and see.
sorry for the gloom but no one else here understands my love of him and any animals

Ill let you know if he returns home safely. If hes not her by bed time then I know it was him as hes always here for lights out and a warm bed

Hi Amy - having a mild battle between Medicare and the clinic over $74.00 - how stupid! I booked in today for the 6th August so without any further rubbish, I'll start the new cycle then.

I think the babies are annoying Millie. OH THANK GOODNESS VICKI!!! I read the first post and my heart almost stopped.
Many years ago I opened the door to a crying woman. She was beside herself. Her husband explained they had just run over my beloved Siamese cat. Of course my heart shattered inside but I felt awful for the bereft woman particularly when she sobbed: "After hitting him I backed up to take a look and accidentally backed over him again". Not even a moment later I felt something winding around my ankles, looked down, and there was Ming, safe and sound.
Still to this day don't know whose gorgeous Siamese it was. Had never seen it around before that night.
Gotta love a happy ending. Thank goodness The Stig lives on another day.

Thanks Amy for the warm welcome!
Jasie was an easy pregnancy with just mild MS the first 12 weeks, the birth was more tricky, was induced because my water broke the night before, just 3 hours labour but 3.5 hours pushing, with vacuum try, then forceps and episiotomy and no epidural. I said afterwards I never want to do this again.....:p

Have just come in from the first Ob appointment - so nice to see him again! Had blood removed for testing etc, and saw the bean again on the ultrasound in his rooms - so exciting. My mum looked after G so Dh and I actually got a coffee afterwards - a mini-date after the Doc's and the pathologists! On the subject of dates, the bean is on target for the 25 of February, so its right on my dates too. I do have to laugh about it though, with G coming 2 weeks late and with a caesarean after all sorts of interventions to get things moving beforehand (none of which did anything I have to say). So we shall see what happens a long way off in the future!
Apart from that should get on and have some lunch and get a couple of things done whilst G is napping.

Ive started jabbing... day 3 today. Apart from that, nothing else much new...OH, Kyra has a terrible terrible nappy rash, went to Doc, he took a swab and he prescribed KENACOMB ointment, put it on each nappy change and dettol bottom soak twice a day. THe rash has spread down below her knees, and is creeping up her tummy, now above her navel. ANd a few red spots near her mouth. Lordy me! SHe fell asleep in the car on the way back (9.45am), not her usual time, usually 11-30 down for a nap.... she is just soooo adorable!

Its soooo peaceful here at the moment, makes ME want to sleep!

Have a good weekend ladies..... Ill pop in again after wednesdays dildo scan!

Rita - hope Kyra's rash responds to treatment, poor little poppet
Cat - Hello to you too!!! How exciting you will be on the "regime" again very soon! You'll feel like an old hand at it all. I'm fine, really good actually which I'm glad about.
My parents have just arrived and we are about to set off in convoy to stay at a Lighthouse Keepers Cottage on the Central coast for the weekend. It should be a good weekend!

spots seem to be diminishing already! Took a lot to get her to sleep tonight, had such a big awake time today...

Well, today I get a call from the School! Sabrina has her lip balm and wrote the "F" word on the girls loo mirror.... she didnt fess up until they found the weapon in her pocket..... the funniest thing is she spelt the damn word right and when she had to write a statement to explain what she did, it was about the only word spelt properly!

The teacher suggested we add it to her SITE WORDS book, cos she knows how to spell that one perfect! That was just hilarious!

Now, she has been reprimanded. No Computer, Nintendo, Playstation and no up late time this week at all.... if she wants to watch cartoons, only in her room or on the big TV and only if WE deem it a good time......

I have MAJOR AF cramps tonight, day 4 of AF, I thought it was over, but its INTENSE!!!

So, now I go back to lie down on lounge and be useless...

Tomorrow and Sunday Tom and I are out painting the internal of our invest prop we are trying to get on the market, got a babysitter in for 6 hours both days. Hard work, but Im getting a 6 hour block away from kids for two days, will do me the WORLD of good! Better make sure the babysitter understands the limitations I have placed On Sabrina this week. She will try to pull the wool over her eyes too! Cheeky buggar!

Hi Mary - very glad you're feeling well. :)

I have an appointment for a blood test on Wednesday and I think my little blue esky will be kitted out with all the goodies I need. Are you still seeing Naomi?

The weekend sounds lovely. Your parents are from the south coast?

I'm recovering from a young Irish cousin who has run me ragged and hasn't worked out that the pilgrims have GONE HOME! We've had a ball and I've finally gone on some of the rides in the Blue Mountains and been dragged around the Home and Away site - aka Palm Beach.

The kittens have turned into escapees and left Alcatraz in their wake. Dad is now raising the stakes and by tomorrow afternoon there will be a little Tower of London in our sunroom....

Take care

Mary: What an awesome day that must have been..just you and your dh, and getting to check in on the bean again:thumbsup:. I used to live for the scans. Will you have one of those 3D ones done toward the end of the pregnancy?

Rita: What a shocking rash for poor Kyra. Is it a thrush type rash? Hope it clears and stays away. Brittany used to get blisters around teething time and her nappies stunk of pure ammonia.
As to Sabrina..well what can one say? I hope she got a 'Pupil of the Week' award for her spelling effort..hehehe. Selia wrote 'sex' in pencil on Lachlan's chest of drawers recently and then scratched it into the lazy susan on the dinner table. So very proud :D. When asked what it meant she told us it was when mummy and daddy kiss. Of course we don't intend to correct her until she is about 35...
Enjoy the painting..and the time alone with your dh.

Cat: good luck on Wednesday. What is in the esky? (clueless)..do you have to take your own turkey baster:p. Sounds like you have been having fun with your permanent guest..lol. Did they eat you out of house and home?
I love the Blue Mountains. I was born out there and went back last year to have a look at the old homestead (well, a tiny three bedroom house in Springwood..lol). Gotta love the views from Katoomba..certainly can make you feel insignificant in its vastness.
I would put shock collars on those escapees:laughing:.

Nothing much happening here..taking Selia to a double birthday party later today. These birthday parties are sucking us dry.. we had the twins last weekend and now two unrelated classmates freakily with the same names only boy and girl versions.. Jordan and Jordyn. I guess I get my revenge in two weeks time for Lachies 8th bday..lol..and then again in October for Selia's 7th.

Best away to go shopping for pressies.
Waves:wave: to Vicki, Leanne, Sharon, Maria and all the other MIA's. Where are you all?

Have a fabulous weekend.

Lord Vicki the comparison in the hair stakes between Kaitlyn and Genevieve is just too funny! G in comparison has the chic short hair!!
Cat - I haven't been back to Naomi since we came back from the Trip. I should let her know I'm pg though, seeings she had a bit to do with it! Sounds like you had/ are having a great time with your refugee pilgrim - like the olympians who run away from the village eh?
We are back from our Lighthouse Keepers Cottage weekend, and it was such fun I must say. The weather was glorious too - so it was just great. Genevieve loved the rock platform at the base of the headland, as we all did!
Our chinese guest is chopping away in the kitchen but I'm not partaking of the meal tonight, I just need something plain so I think it will be grilled cheese on toast for this pg woman.
Back to the workaday week for Dh tomorrow, G and I miss him especially on Mondays which is his big teaching day.

Wow Vicki - you should put Katie up for commercials - just gorgeous!

Hi Mary - the Irish lad has descended on the relatives in QLD and still getting used to distances in Australia. He had planned to pop out for afternoon tea with some of his cohorts on Fraser Island, but as he is staying near Toowoomba, he's slowly figuring out that not everything is just around the corner.

Hi Amy - the little esky contains the drugs that I'll be using - some of them have to be keep at low temps so there's ice pack to keep the injection drugs cool until you get home.

Do you remember the cafe we were talking about by the lake? Is that where Floriade is up to the Carillion?

Take care all

Thanks Cat/Mary! Yes Cat, but being Perth here the choices for such is limited. have searched a lot to no avail to find somewhere to sign her up so to speak. Will keep hunting though..as she really is a character as well as looks and I think she would love it! She already poses for ds1 and his camera all the time.
one day..
Mary: I think she really is the exception here with that hair! It even amazes me still after all this time. She was born with masses and I thought she would lose it but it just got longer and longer!

She was so happy to be outside today after a whole week of rain! She loves her out doors so much. Her and the dog just roam round the back yard from toy to toy...her playing..him either just following her or some times just waiting for that bikky or something to drop lol.
He even runs to her all worried if she falls. so cute! I think she will always be safe at home while hes around

oh i have rambled on about us havnt I! sorry lol

Hope everyones had a awesome weekend!

sunshine or wet for you all?..hope it was sun like here. another for tomorrow then back to the rain :( I know we need it but with a littly confined inside is not fun for her or us.

Hello lovelies..not avoiding you all, just so shattered tired.

Glad everyone is well.
Vicki: I loved the pics of the backyard..is a real Shangri-La for gorgeous Katie. Man! that girl has hair! Dane should be so lucky :p

Mary: What a wonderful time away you had. Oh to be so lucky. So what is Genevieve up to these days? Does she still have a day nap so you can get your feet up and rest along with her?

Cat: Floriade is held in the patch of ground about 100m in front of the cafe (going away from the lake), past the toilet block. It covers a pretty big area. Apparently they are considering moving it to a permanent site. I think a lot of people are unhappy about that as it is in such a good spot now. Oh well.
Good luck with the appt on Wed. Look forward to hearing how it goes.

I have asked another lady DonnaR to join us in here so hopefully we have another 40+ to add to our collection :D.

Off to stack the dishwasher and crawl into bed..so very tired.

hi fellow young ones
have recently joined the forum and have been directed to this thread. Just wanted to say hi and ask all you 2nd time around mums like me are you finding it harder or easier this time. I find I get tired quicker:sleeping: than when I was a new mum at 20, but I seem to cope with tiredness better:chillpill:. Maybe my supports are better now or maybe there are some benefits to being a 40+ parent Look fwd to chatting again

Welcome milkybar! There are a lot of second time around mums here, but I'm not one of them, just a late starter - but theres some truth in "saving the best til last" as far as my gorgeous dh is concerned! In fact, I can't talk him up enough at the moment, I realise every day how lucky I am to have him come into my life, albeit at the ripe old age of 37.
Amy - yes, Genevieve is still having an afternoon sleep, and the last few days she seems to have extended it to 3 hours, I wish I could count on it!! So I make myself go and lay down and time it so I get at least 45 minutes horizontal.
Today I have been tired, with the dry eyes and a low grade fairly constant headache which is dull to say the least. We had a visit from one of my bridesmaids (I had 5 of the darlings!!) who has a 6 month old son, it was so lovely to see them both. She is pretty exhausted, she has a business and a hopeless partner - so I was counting my blessings this afternoon after she left. But her little one is a doll - and the absolute sunshine of her life (aren't they all?). I am so pleased she has her own bub now as it has been a dream for so long.
Tomorrow I'm going to go off and have the blood test side of the nuchal shenanagins I think, so that G and I actually get to playgroup on Thursday for a change!
Hope all is well with all of you!

Just wanted to say hi and ask all you 2nd time around mums like me are you finding it harder or easier this time.
Glad you made it in hon :yelclap:. Great bunch in here.
I would like to say there is a big difference between the one I had at 23 and the last at 44 but frankly I was just as tired with the first one. I was a single mum working a rotating shift roster at the airport so I was always pretty tired.
I think the only difference I notice with the last three kids is that maturity has made me far more relaxed about anything that comes my way. I was 37 when I had my second and 38 with the third and nothing phased me like it did with my first.
The pregnancy and birth was much the same for all of them. The only real difference with the last bub is the toll the pregnancy took on my joints..OUCH..still suffering 7mths later. Small price to pay for such a sweetheart though.

Look forward to getting to know you. Let's start with..bub..how old? birth story? How are you going? What does your eldest think of mum having another? Feel free to tell me to mind my own business..lol.

Amy - yes, Genevieve is still having an afternoon sleep, and the last few days she seems to have extended it to 3 hours.
Glad to hear you are getting some rest Mary. I hope Genevieve does keep up the longer naps so you can get your head down with her. Might not seem so important now but in the last trimester I am sure it will.
Woohoo to going to playgroup. I am minus a car so this bub will miss out sadly.

I realise every day how lucky I am to have him come into my life, albeit at the ripe old age of 37.
That is so beautiful Mary:cloud9:. Bet your hubby feels lucky too.
I feel as humble as you about how lucky life turned out. I thank the heavens every day that dh logged onto ICQ and accidentally happened across my profile. If I hadn't included my, and apparently his, favourite author on that profile we may never have met. Although he says: "We were doomed to meet honey." hehehe..cheeky bugger!

Off to have a cuppa, a shower, and bed.

Amy - sometimes you do have to count your blessings eh? Guess what? I met dh online too - we're an RSVP success story! Seeings his whole life (prior to me that is!!!) revolved around computers (PhD in IT) it was meant to be that he met his match online!
He is attending to G at the moment, and I should really be getting ready to go out for my blood test. Today I am being brave and going to an appointment by myself! Yes, like being single again, except pg and leaving the bub at home with her dad!
Will check in again later.

Mine was a little more convoluted than joining with a dating site in the hope of meeting someone..lol..although your story is awesome Mary! I believe when you are meant to meet, you meet.

(Long story..feel free to sleep through parts of it:laughing:)..

I took a voluntary redundancy mid-1998 and used some of the money to buy a computer and hook up to this strange world called 'The Internet'. I had not seen it before then.
Within three weeks I had a number of people on my ICQ list including an American gentleman, living in upstate NY, whom I had met in a Yahoo chat room; and an Aussie army guy, living in Melbourne where I was, who found me through an ICQ search.

The American quickly became someone I would want to spend the rest of my life with. We chatted online and the telephone daily for a few months before he asked me to marry him. Actually I was in hospital when he proposed over the phone, having just broken my ankle and had surgery to install a metal plate.
We organised for him to travel here so we could meet in-real-life but unfortunately his popularity in his work took a sharp upturn and he moved interstate twice in a short space of time, hopping up the ladder, until he was offered his dream job which entailed yet another interstate move. Unfortunately it meant not having any leave for quite a long time, and it also meant he needed to become very dedicated to his work as he was now earning the big bickies and playing in the major leagues. After almost a year of a fine romance, it fizzled and died.

At that time the army guy, who had known about my engagement all along, asked how I was doing. I told him what had happened and suggested I would not give my heart again to anyone. His response was one word in a PM..as I recall it was: pfffffft!
I took umbrage to that word and used up a whole PM box explaining rather curtly that I knew myself very well and if I said I would never love again no-one in this world could change my mind about that.
We met shortly thereafter, just for coffee, and were married seven months later.:D. Three more kids on and I know we were meant to be together forever. Funny the twists and turns life takes us on.

I still hear from the ex-fiance..rarely in emails, but mainly when I attend the pictures or turn on the tv. His gorgeous deep American voice booms out at me from the screen letting me know that: "Coming soon..a tale of love and loss..starring...". He made it all the way to the top and is now incredibly rich. Good for him I say.
I am just as lucky to have a husband and kids I adore, in our cramped three bedroom rented property:yes:.

Good luck with the bloods..and make sure you take time out to have a cuppa and piece of cake and watch the world go by without any interruption..lol. And when you've got the time and inclination..I'd love to hear your internet romance story too :)

Hugs,
Amy

Ahh, Amy what a tale - true love never runs smooth eh? How funny to have an ex who is the voice of movies!! It is funny when you know the person behind the Voice!! We were friends for years with the fellow who is/was The Voice of SBS - "This show contains nudity, coarse language and ... adult themes".
Glad your dh took control of the situation and got you into his "real life" so much more fun than a virtual one - or a distance one as far as men are concerned!! How lovely for you to meet your man especially after you'd sworn off them for life!!
My story was of course completely different. I had spent a year in China teaching, getting fit and thin and pulling my head together it seems. I was about 3 weeks away from heading home and I had to tell my classes I was leaving, the convo (with all 16 of my classes - I ended up teaching over 500 students in one year!!) went along the lines of "I'm going back to Australia soon" - Why? - "I miss my family" - We miss our family too, China is the best country in the world, thats no reason to go home - "Well, I need to go home, meet my future husband, get married and have a baby" to which each and every one of my classes would burst into spontaneous applause!! So, with the kind thoughts and best wishes of the entire college behind me by the time I actually left, I came home, met Dh online within 3 days, met him in person in 6 weeks, and within one year we were married, and within two we had Genevieve!!!
Altogether aaaahhhh!
So - here I am with a silly sinus headache, a sleeping baby and a dh on his 'puter next to me at the dining table. What a picture of domestic bliss huh?

amy: Hi there, nice to chat with you. No I'm not going to tell you to mind your own business, what kind of women would you be if you wern't a little, even a lot curious about the lives of others!!
My bubba is a little gorgeous, sleepless girl. She's 15 weeks old, cant remember when you stop counting weeks and start counting months, so I guess she is almost 4 months. As I mentioned she doesn't think much of sleep!! Apparently cuts in on socializing time! Otherwise she is going great guns. Her dad, my hubby:valentine: is a 1st time dad. We waited a long time and went to hell and back to have her so DH is still in a blissed out state:cloud9: The other kids adore her especially DD1 now 21, loves to shop for baby things esp shoes!!! DD2, 17 is a litlle grossed out by the fact that mum is still having sex, even though bubba was an IVF conception. DS 23 is a mellow chilled out soul so its hard to know what he thinks of it all. Is the family complete? Like you the last bub took its toll on the bod, so we will need to think long and hard about it. We have 1 frozen bubbsicle left. Hope thats enough info for you for now. I can hear a little murmur about to turn into a full blown yell:hissy: so must go.

So we both waited a long time so we could marry 'geeks':laughing:. Dh is one too.
I fully believe that the prayers and wishes of your beautiful Chinese students helped you to where you are today. And how clearly you mapped your future prior to it happening. That sent chills down my spine. Awesome!!! So come on..how did the first meet IRL go?

I wasn't looking for a relationship the day I met dh for coffee. Wasn't interested. I went away thinking: nice guy, probably have coffee again sometime in the future (thinking months). A few days later he sent a msg saying he felt like taking a drive to a wildlife sanctuary on the weekend. As dd1 is an animal freak (hey, thinking back he knew that! Dang..I fell into his trap..lol). I suggested if he wanted passengers we could tag along.
We went, had a lovely day and at the end he handed me a copy of You've Got Mail on dvd. Earlier I had said I wanted to see the movie and when asked if I had a dvd drive in my puter I said yes as I had watched my Dirty Dancing movie on there.
Got home, movie wouldn't work. I rang and after going through all sorts of checks and balances discovered I actually didn't have a dvd drive..lmao. The movies I had been playing were cd movies *cough*. A week later he suggests on the spur that I bring the movie over, we get pizza, and watch on his really truly dvd player.
Swear to God above Mary..I had no clue of my interest in him until the movie credits were starting to roll. He brought me in a cup of tea and something inside me suddenly felt strange. At that instant (remember I am actually a sane person..lol) I saw a light above me and heard a man's voice in my ear clearly say: "This is the man you have waited so long for." (and it wasn't even dh's voice:laughing:). It was the most bizarre experience of my life.
The other bizarre experience is when dh leans over at the pictures and asks: "Was that Howard?"..after a trailer.
Hey, ask your friend who did the SBS warning why I never got the sexual themes in the shows I watched..plenty of coarse language but hardly any sexual references or nudity....:D. Voice Over Talent is a highly lucrative business.

Actually your 'domestic bliss' sounds exceptionally like mine. I think I will go and take another Sudafed PE to dull it down a bit.

Best fly to get boybee up and get the kids from school. They have had a huge day at the school athletics carnival so hopefully will go to bed early tonight.

You can print and bind that post if you like..lol.
Hugs,

She couldn't tolerate their noise so moved out at 19. In saying that, she is a really lovely girl and did go and buy nice things for her new baby brother..awww.

Wow..15weeks old..I remember it like it was 17 weeks ago..lol. Doesn't that time rocket past though Leslie? Seems like you are pregnant forever and then as repayment they turn one before you know it; then off to school; teenagers; then left home. Ok, maybe not that fast, but it does seem that way.
So how have you pulled up after the birth? I hear you on the battered body thing. I am falling apart:p.
Socialising time? Hmm..trying to recollect..nope..can't remember what that is like.
So you've swapped the designer bag for a nappy bag, but a nice one at that. And I'll bet you beamed so bright when you got that BFP! Second only to your dh I am sure.
Mine was pretty thrilled when we had our first. He had been married previously but no children. In fact he didn't believe he could have any as it hadn't happened for he and his ex-wife, nor with two past girlfriends who had wanted kids. He was thrilled with the second BFP, I was the one who was less than happy..took some convincing to believe I could love that one as much as I did ds1. The moment she was born I was totally smitten though. They do that to you:yes:.
So have you stopped staring at bub yet? lol. The thrill doesn't fade when you have hoped and prayed so long I know.

Another December mum is picking me up to go shopping tomorrow. Dh has the car during the day so I am a shut-in usually. Ds1 is turning eight in just over a week so I think tomorrow will be about bday shopping. Might get bub weighed too if I have the time.

Well I am off and out. Nice to meet you Leslie.

Those are some great stories.. I remember turning 39 and thinking I was not particularly happy at work and there had to be more to life than this.. I had a GF who said if I wanted to meet a man I had to visualise it.. I couldn't or wouldn't then finally a guy who worked for me sent a message to me via someone else that he was interested in me.. I freaked out ..I was his boss! I went home and thought do I really want to be alone.

I decided no! while I had a relationship before and it ended with a truely damaged heart that the benefits far outweighed that.. I actually got a promotion and was really busy for a few months then finally put my head up and realised there was a guy in the next office. He apparently really liked me and thought I was married until another single GF straighten him out.. She had actually asked him out! Before I knew it we were going out then i took a job in London.. I was supposed to come back to OZ to do an exam and return to the UK.. I decided I had to find out if this was the right person so stayed in OZ.. we were married 7 months later.. but in that time he had a vasectomy reversal and applied for Australian citizenship.. I had not been interested in him as he has children in another country and I thought he would be returning ..I think he did too we had spoken about his kids a lot before we "realised" we attended the same meetings worked for the same boss. I thought he was intelligent but hated the fact that he took 2 litre bottles of diet coke to meeting and would spend his weekend riding his motor bike..

It has all changed.. he rides the bike to canberra and that evil stuff:devil6: has never been in the house (though he drinks it occasionally) The guy who asked me out is happily married and has 3 lovely children.

I am reading but having trouble understanding a lot..I will get there just not a fan of the font..

Well, I had my first ultrasound scan yesterday, day 8 of drugs, 2 follicles on each ovary! So, I drive back down again on Monday for another scan and to decide which day for egg retreival! Gosh yesterday was a long stressful day.....

I dont think I did too bad for an old duck like myself...4 follicles, if they all have eggs inside, I may end up with one or two to transfer (when yopu calculate rate of attrition).... surely????? Nurse at clinic said for a woman my age to get 4 follicles was an extremely good response.... so I dont feel too bad...so far. OF course, the future is unknown to us all...just gotta keep the dream alive...:fingerscrossed::wizard:

I have a sick child at the moment, runny nose, not sleeping well..... and my front doorbell dosnt work so the cleaner came..and went! buggar! Oh well, saves me some bucks for a week!

Welcome to the new member, I havent had a chance to sit down and read all about you, just breifly and quickly skimmed over.... saw the bit about meeting partners on the internet...will go back later and read...

Cheers, Rita

How funny that so many of us met our partners online. Actually just before my mother died in 1996 she asked a clairvoyant if I would get married and the woman told her I would meet my dh within 2yrs, but under very unusual circumstances. I guess back then the net would have been considered unusual.
We were a small gathering in the Online Romance group back then. I have been chatting with those gorgeous ladies for ten years now and funnily enough, most of us in the group had our first internet romance fail, but all of us ended up marrying another we met online:D.

Cathy: That was really a lovely story hon. Thank you for sharing it with us:hugs:. You took a huge gamble staying to see if things would work..but your heart of hearts must have known he was The One. I loved your line about: I went home and thought do I want to be alone.
And now here you are with two gorgeous girls and a wonderful husband:).
That visualisation thing really does work.
I am not a fan of Coke either. Ds1 sings hallellujah if he goes to a party and is given the stuff, cause he knows he won't get it from us..lol.
I am scared of dh riding his motorbike. It hasn't been registered in a few years now but he is suggesting we get it back on the road due to current petrol prices. I don't know..kinda feel sick when I hear of so many awful accidents. How do you deal with it?

Cat: Thanks lovely. How did your appt go? C'mon..goss goss goss.

Rita:  for the four follicles (make a good girl band name ..hehehe..). While I was out with my friend today one of her friend's rang the mobile crying because she 'only produced 11 eggs'. I'm like: "Tell her that is fantastic..nothing to cry about." Apparently this chicky only has limited chances as they have to take tissue from her hubby's testes to get any sperm. They can only do that a few times.
You only need one good one Rita:yes:..you've seen women on those Foxtel IVF shows who only had one or two viable eggs but *whoops* divided and suddenly they are expecting quads! lol.
*Fingers crossed* you get a great result.
Sorry to hear you have a crook one. Sabrina or Kyra?
Oh to have a cleaner:cloud9:.

Tabby: Hello gorgeous. Another with the online romance..so do you still play Counter Strike with each other?
Back when I was a newbee to the net I was chatting with a woman from NZ in a Yahoo chat room. A guy joined in on our conversation and I was about to tell him to rack off but she told me he was her husband (been chatting with them ten years now and they even came to stay with us a few years ago). I thought that was bizarre at the time. Now dh and I sit side-by-side on our puters and message one another. I tell him to go and put the jug on and he replies that I am closer to it.hehehe.
So glad your hubby kept chasing you, otherwise we prolly wouldn't be chatting in this thread..lol.
Good luck with the needles tomorrow. I have to fight back tears when any of mine get them.
And *fingers crossed* the missing AF just needs a hormone to kick it back into action. A year after Selia was born I was having hot sweats one night and my MIL suggested it was menopause. My gp just laughed when I told her and said that would be highly unlikely after giving birth just a short time back.

Leanne: Where are you lovey? How is the pregnancy treating you? Hope you come and post soon.

Mary: How are you feeling today? Getting enough rest?

Best get along. I have been doing this post for hours but got sidetracked with dinner/baths/making cuppas etc..you know how it goes.

Hugs to all.

Jeez Amy thats going a little too far messaging each other about putting the kettle on! Dh has been known to Skype me from across the table but then I threaten to kill him. When he lived in his bachelor pad I used to call it his Internet Cafe as he didn't even have a stereo, let alone a tv. Though he did have the best view of Sydney Harbour I've ever been able to enjoy on a daily basis!!
Everything is fine here. Did manage another nap today, just as well seeings I was up to the milk muncher at 3am - though she (and we) managed to sleep through til 8.30 after that. She is soooooo gorgeous - don't you just love loving your little ones? We went out to dinner at our fave Chinese tonight and G behaved herself to the level expected of one her age - only tried to climb on the table once we'd finished eating!! She is such a dream to put to bed these days, its just great.
I love reading everyones Dh stories - all together, ahhhh!

I used to Msn Dh to remind him to come home..

Amy how do I deal with the Motorcycle..denial! I pretend it is not happening. He pretty much rides it from Syd to canberra and back once a week. I was so pleased when he had to spent 2K on to to get fixed! it took 3 weeks ..yeah! it is now back on the road and he got his first speeding ticket in 7 years.. He was so cold he kept going faster! so I think while it is so cold he will be busing it first thing Monday mornings..

It is late and I need to go to sleep.. I have forgotten who mentioned no AF for 3 months I am sick of buying HPTs in fear I might be pregnant again. It has been 5 and half weeks and I am still waiting, unlike the last time I actually have no pregnancy symptons other than VERY moody!! I turn 48 next week so expect it might just be perimenopause. I have read on other sites there are some things you can do to get the cycle back on track.. I have no idea what it is but Vitex was suggested.. Must do some reading, think it is about time to get myself sorted out.. SAHM for 5 years is taking it's toll on me.

Good night

Amy: I so hope your right hun! The gp's first words were oh maybe your heading into the change :(
I was so sad today now BUT i wont lose hope just yet, not until its confirmed, will head down there tomorrow for the bloods, thanks for your wishes.
LOL @ you and dh side by side asking that hahaha and I thought we were bad one room away chatting all 3 of us through the house hehe.
Does come in handy though if one goes to bed you get a offline msg on msn in the morning,,ex: from ds2 " wake me at 9 please" lol.
or ds1 " see you at 2 for lunch, thanks mum!" yes a hint hes going to call in for late lunch from work and will have it here and ready..really is true yaknow, the boys never really leave home.

Mary: your gorgeous G sounds as lovely as my Katie, so great to take out , a real pleasure, and so easy to bed. real treasures.

Rita: woohoo for the fab four! Hope your little one is feeling better soon xxx

Cathy: that was me, no AF for 3 months now, and heading into the 4th now, 13days will be 4th month :(
ill let yous know how i go next week once results are in.
me, i most likely will call it a day if it is, I dont think can handle the disappointment if I cant kick it back into gear.

Katie had her flu vac no2 jab today and did me proud! cried for the shortest time then 2 jelly beans off the office girl and she was all happy again hehe.

oh and shopping to get a kitchen for the cubby :P

happy sleep all

Hello

I've been directed this way to play with people my own age:laughing:

My name is Donna, I'm 47 and Mum to 4 miracles. All 4 are IVF babes as I had/have tubal problems. It took DH and I 9 yrs of IVF before we finally got lucky and had DS and DD1. We liked them so much we wanted more and went back when they were 2.5 for a FET (Frozen Embryo Transfer). We transfered 2 as we didn't really think twins would happen again:rolleyes:. Boy were we wrong. DDs 2 & 3 were born when the others were 3.3yrs. All four are from the same IVF cycle so they were all conceived at the same time:cool: and we still have 3 "on ice"

It's been hard and it's also been so much fun
. DS and DD1 started full time school this year and are thriving, it was so hard to let them go but they are loving it all.

DDs 2 & 3 are the sweetest little girls I know (no bias of course LOL) and it amazes me how much more they know because they have a big brother and sister.

DH and I have been married 17 yrs in September and he is my rock :valentine: . From only child, clueless about kids bloke to wonder Dad in a short time.

I'm not sure if I am done having babies. DH is happy with whatever I want to do so I need to make some sort of decision in the next 6 months or so.

So sorry for the :ecomcity: but that's me :p and I hope to get to know people here better

Hello Donna..so glad you made it in. I paved the way a few days ago by letting everyone know our numbers would increase:smiliedance:.
Wow hon..two sets of twins..must be awesome! Hard at times I guess, but so worth it.

You already know my story..I am not shy about sharing all my most intimate moments with online strangers..lol.

Glad you are in and look forward to getting to know you better.

Hugs,
Amy:)

Morning ladies,

Hi Amy, I've started on the nasal spray (all fertility meds firmly locked away from Millie after last time) and return on Wednesday for another blood test. This week's test confirmed ovulation. I could have told them that without another needle, but any hoo, I'm off on another little adventure.

How are you?

Hi,

Hope it's ok if i join in, i'm 39, not yet 40. Is 39 close enough? I have two children, boys, 17 and 13 and my partner has 3; 2 girls, 24 and 16 and 1 boy, 20. We really want to have a baby, and my partner has recently had a vasectomy reversal after 13 years. I have been charting in preparation and have had a couple of blood tests to check my hormone levels. Two FSH results were ok and one was a bit high. GP advised that hormones fluctuate and i shouldn't worry. However, just this past couple of weeks i have been feeling a bit strange and have woken up feeling really uncomfortable and hot. I ovulate each month and have never missed or been more than 3 days late with my period. I'm feeling really scared about what's going on with me right now. My partner is just so adamant that everything is fine, unfortunately i'm not sure.

Tabby: Thanks so much for the welcome. I'm in Nth Qld. No, my AF ?(period) isn't late. Just have the hotness at night and don't feel myself for the last week or so. Now I'm so scared that i might be perimenopausal. I have patiently waited 10 years to have another baby, i didn't think it would cause the angst it has. My partner has only just had his surgery a fortnight ago, so we haven't even been able to BD yet.

cancerianmum and donna - Welcome!!
Donna - wow to all those twins!! What fun you must have in your home!
cancerianmum - don't worry toooo much about those nightsweats. I've had them a few times in the last year, not pleasant but I have no idea what caused them. Well, actually I think with the first ones I was really ill, no fevers during the day though. The others were random entirely. So, there you go, and I'm just 40 and nearly 12 weeks along with this pg. Not brave enough to put in in my signature yet, waiting til after my nuchal and the all clear there.
Vicki - what a time you will have with all those birthdays!! And your own for that matter. I hope those men spoil you in a suitable manner!
We went around to my sister's place today for lunch, then we all trundled around to a local park which was a hoot. The kids and most of the men (my brother was actually there too, which was a minor miracle as he works in a cafe with his girlfriend all weekend usually) kicked a couple of footys around - including G which was hysterical to watch. Then we went into the playground and one of our playgroup friends was there with her parents so that was just lovely too. Such a beautiful day here in Sydney town!

ps Cat how is the "process" going?? Nasal spray is a good start I suppose, if thats what you're meant to be doing! Keep it away from the kittykat this time though, doesn't sound like she needs help in those stakes.
How are the kittens going? When are your parents back from QLD? Mustn't be too long now. Is the cousin coming back to keep you busy before he heads back to Ireland? Oh yes, and how did that stats exam go? I hope you got the marks you needed!

Hi Again
Thx for the welcome everyone
And welcome to DonnaR and Cancerianmum
Wow DonnaR not one but two sets of twins :yelclap:Good things happen to those who wait!!
Cancerianmum- not sure about the sweats, might just be a bug in the system but worth having it checked just the same. You sound like your a modern day brady bunch, good luck adding to it
I'm off to BrisVegas 2moro to visit ageing parents , first time since bub arrived. First flight for LO, shes had a cold so hoping the ears dont give her too much grief- otherwise pity on my fellow passengers:mad:- too bad, so sad. DH staying home to mind the hairy child, bit nervous about flying solo with DD, have spent the whole arvo packing, repacking and then turfing it all out just to repack the whole lot again!!! thank god I'm still breastfeeding and still too young for solids, the thought of taking bottles and sterilizers on top of all the other stuff!! Gone are the days when all I needed for a visit to the crumblies was a back pack and a credit card!!
Oh well, she's so worth it, excess baggage and all!
Not sure if the olds computer has access to the "internet" so might be off line until Friday, so hope everyone has a good week
Cheers
Lesley

How did his reversal go? Do they do a sperm count once done?

Mary : ah the park trip sounds delightful! Will be doing the same tomorrow while we have sun here I think. Just way too nice not to take advantage of.

Rita: all the best fro Monday! thinking of you.

Lesley: All the best for a smooth trip for your little one.

Nice to see plenty of chatting going on in here.

Penny: Welcome hon. Frankly I think you are far too young to chat with us:laughing:. Still a slip of a gal in her 30's. Nah..only *j/k*..great to have you here.
:fingerscrossed: the reversal is just the ticket and it all happens fast from there. Is your dh as excited at the thought of another bub? What do your kids think?
My dh reckons the trying is the best part..hehehe.

Cat: Wow..moving along nicely. Good thing you are keeping the meds away from Millie..her babies are not yet grown enough for her to be having more. I remember when I first twigged I was pg with Brittany. I went to my usual chemist who just happened to be a brother to a guy I worked with. I was a bit hesitant asking for a pg test kit as I thought word would get back..so I told him I thought my cat was pg:D. Oddly enough he didn't buy my story.
So Wednesday you have the blood test and what happens after that? So very exciting this adventure of yours.

Rita: How are the kids now, all well? Geez you are having a cold snap. My MIL usually rings to tell me how jolly cold it got in Bundahole..lol. She freaks at 6C..zero would put her into a spin! It was snowing/sleeting here this morning. So very pretty, but it didn't last..only got to enjoy it for about 20mins.
Being an ex Townsville gal I remember the Ross River Fever. Not sure I ever got it myself though even though our first home there had the Ross River flowing a foot from the backyard fence.
That fever is just awful from what I remember, aching joints and muscles and can keep coming back (??).

Here's hoping for a big clutch of eggs on Wednesday/Friday. How long after retrieval do you go back for implanting? Gonna be a big week next week for you..hope you are looking after yourself well hon.:hugs:.

Mary: Glad to hear you are getting some good rest in. Have you booked to a hospital yet? The birthing centre I use you virtually have to book in at the moment of conception..fills up very fast.
Sounds like you had a lovely day yesterday. I slobbed around doing nothing...lol.

Leslie: Have a great time with your parents hon. Hopefully the flight will be an easy one and bub will sleep all the way. Look forward to hearing about it when you get back.

Vicki: Can't believe your dh has caught up to me in age..24!!..just the best age to be:yes: (and I intend to be that age for the rest of life..hehehe). I reckon if our family had bdays that close together we would have a long weekend of celebration. Have a blast gorgeous.

Me..well I should be cleaning up a storm and moving Lachie's bed into Selia's room as my darling big brother is down from the NT tomorrow to do a puter course here. He has been trying so hard to get a posting here but rotten Air Force keep him within the NT or WA all the time. He may have to jump out to civvy street like my dh did in order to live where he wants.

Dane is growing a treat. Need to have him weighed next week. He is going to be 8mths!!! Where did that time get to?
Without mozzing myself he seems to have fallen back into a good sleep pattern since his illness. He has a bottle around 6:30pm, then we stretch him til 7:30 to give him solids and juice..then shower and last offering of bottle at 8:30..then sleep til 7am..woohooo. Our only problem at the moment is even though we dress him warmly and he is in his sleeping bag, his hands are solid ice by morning. I have tried putting mittens on him but if he wakes he will suck on them or take them off. The ducted heating is set to go on in the night if it goes below 15C but still his hands freeze. Any suggestions?

Best away, boybee has just woken.
Hugs,
Amy:)

Started a great big post and suffice to say it was Genevieved!!!
We had a lovely day today! Had a walk in the morning down by the bay, and timed it perfectly with the rain that tumbled down on our way home in the car!
Sounds like you've all been busy too!
Lesley - you'll both be fine on that flight - just feed feed feed on the way up and the way down - which, depending on where you are flying from, will feel like the whole trip!! How lovely for bub to meet the grandparents - and viceversa!!
Amy - sorry, no hints on keeping the hands warm, we have the same thing here but with no heating at night. G seems to survive though her hands can be ice in the mornings.

Hello Ladies,

Firstly Amy - you told what story to the chemist??? You're a nut and thank goodness he didn't buy it either. My chemist is intrigued because between buying stop smoking products and pregnancy plus products, they are amused that they go on the family account and I can see they're thinking "do the parents know..."

How does Dane like the shower? A friend of mine is trying to dunk her 6 month old and she carries on like she's being strangled.

After the nasal spray I start injections and then they do an egg collection, but that's a little way down the track, so I'm just on the pin cushion plan at the moment.

Hi Mary - how are you feeling? Millie is well and the vet has minor MINOR concerns that she may be pregant again. I will seriously kill her. The kittens are now 5 weeks old and gorgeous. If they're not sleeping, they're attacking each and climbing anyone's leg that stands still for a second.

Amazingly, I got more than I wanted for stats. Quite a miracle for a number of reasons, but most especially as my first adventure ended a few days before the exam and I was a bit flat, but I only needed to pass so the marks were a bonus.

Dad collected Mum last week and they have settled back in. I'll start house hunting in the next few weeks after the kittens have gone.

Martin the Irish cousin is lost in the wilderness in QLD somewhere. He's due to fly home on the 14th from Brisbane and I think he's nicked my wombat!

How were you Genevieved???

Hi Vicki - Thank you for your good wishes and have you thought about trying to get your DH to ask for directions!!! - lol. Hope the satnav is a great success. What are you doing for your birthday?

Cheers
Cat

Cat - its all systems go for you. I laughed at the chemist and the family account, no wonder the chemist looked at you sideways!! I assume your parents do know whats happening this time around, bit hard to hide the esky I'd imagine!! Oh yes, G got to the computer and got rid of the post I was in the middle of, she's great like that!!
Everything is okay here. Spent the day at my parents with Genevieve, and the next-up cousin (who is 3) - the girls had a great old time together. Still have the sinus issue, and last night firstly I was freezing, then I was boiling - not a real fever though, just a bit of a worry all the same. Anyway I am hoping there is no repeat performance tonight of either of those things. Am back on the lemon, ginger, honey and hot water again, as you do!

Hi Mary - they do know what's going on, but Dad has reverted to asking questions through Mum. Last time I pounced on him for a medical issue - if he had prostate checks, he bounced back with a pap smear rally. Anything below the waist, Mum's the interpreter - lol.

Should you pop to the doctor for a checkup?

Take care
