View Full Version : Internal bleeding after C-section
Wondering if anyone had any complications after a C-Section. I had severe internal bleeding and was rushe back into hospital two weeks later to find the bleed and to stop it. Just wondering if anyone else had experienced this or something similar.

I didn't have a lot of bleeding all at once, however I did bleed for 4 months after DS was born (via c/s).
I had scans & was even sent to the ER at one point to be checked out, but they couldn't find a reason for it. They suspect there may have been retained placenta, however the scan was only showing indication of it in the cervix, which none of the doctors or specialists had ever come across before.
How long ago was your c/s? Was the bleeding internal only or like post-birth bleeding, only heavier?
I hope all is better now! :)

After I had my first the doctors noticed I had a huge bleed, so they put a drain in through my cut and it drained out all the blood, it was about 1/2 a metre long and hurt real bad when a nurse pulled it out.

Thanks for both reply's. My C-section was on 31 March and I was rushed back into hospital 4 weeks after this to stop the bleed. I had no external bleeding, the internal bleed was a massive amount of brusing above my c/s scar, swollen and very black, blue and red.
I had to have an ultrasound at 3wks and they found over 500mls of blood trapped in my abdominal wall. There were only two options leave it and hope the body would break down the blood at it's own pace or operate, we were advised to wait. However by the 4th wk I collapsed and they operated.
They put a drain in the c/s scar where they had to open me up again and waited just under a week to drain all the old blood out. I know have a little opening which drains daily (no tube) which is beginning to be rather frustrating.
I now have I think what is called grainuloma (tissue) growing out of the little hole which is suppose to be "good" as it means it's healing upwards. I've never heard of anyone going through what I have and wondering how normal or OK this has been.
Any further opinions?
