Hi, my 4 month old Taylah is constipated, and i'm not quite sure how to give her the prune juice. How much should i dilute it, and is it better to boil the prunes and use that water, or just get the prune juice from a jar ?
Any info would be a great help, Thanks.
Just give her about 10mls prune juice (from the bottle is fine) to 30mls water. Give it to her from a cup or bottle - whatever is easiest for you.

I give my daughter Gripe water when she is constipated it works very well!!! I think ur bubs is old enough to have it too because mine took it when she was 2 months old our doctor reccommended it & so did my two sisters...they'll be pooing their nappy in no time lol!

Thank you both so much, I don't like seeing my bub in pain...
I will try the prune juice first as this is the more common solution that i have heard of, if this fails I will try the gripe water.
Thanks again... :fingerscrossed:

may i ask if your bubs is breastfed or bottlefed?
firstly, because a breastfed baby is never constipated (unless there has been a sudden, distinct change in her nappy habits),
and two, a bottlefed baby may have solid poos because there is extra iron in the formula (they put it in just to be sure).

i found that a lot of people said my DS was constipated, when he isn't. he just has solid poos. even now, when he isn't on formula, they are still very firm. and he only does them every few days. i have been warned that prune juice is a little harsh for a small baby - especially if they havent started solids yet, but if youre happy with it, then go for it.
does that make sense?

i heard prune juice can be a little harsh too. if things are really bad and your little one is REALLY constipated the coloxyl drops that you get from the chemist are GREAT! You should use them all the time though, just helps if bubs is very constipated and there really isnt any alternative. I have heard putting baby oil on bubs bum (where they poo Sorry for TMI) helps them get it out too!!?? My ds also got constipated on S26 hope it all works out for ya :)
