My friend has just rang me in tears. She got ordered her son a fluffy from a cafe in Sydney, when it arrived he picked it up and accidentally poured it over his hand......it was boiling hot!!!:( His hand is all blistered and red! My friend is quite shy and didnt even go to the manager, she thinks it's her fault for not checking to see if it was hot!:hair: Poor boy was in tears! She's at the hospital now!
I have never checked the temp when lucy gets a fluffy, it's not supposed to be hot!!!
I don't know how they managed to get it hot enough to scald him unless they had the temperature on their coffee maker up waaaay to high!

hmm i never do either as they are generally just froth, well here they are When i was in a cafe we always used to make sure they werent hot i guess as i knew it was for a child it was best to be safe.
Hope his ok, its a shame she didnt tell the manager as it could happen again
:no:I am a waitress and do believe the barista should be at fault a childs drink is ment to be luke warm in my experience. hope all is ok. I would talk to the manager as it could happen to another child because of careless staff.:hair:

I've never checked. Its is understandable how it could happen although I do agree it shouldn't have happened. When frothing the milk they say to have it between 65 and 70 degrees and if the barista has made another drink with the babycino they may have done it the lazy way and not served the babycino at a lower temp then heat it the rest of the way. And of casue something at 65 or 70 degrees is going to scald.

yup i always check the temp.
some barristas have no idea about making luke warm milk for kiddies.
DD's never had one. But if we were to get one I'd check the temperature because I do that with all her food.
Poor little guy and your poor friend.

No need to check the temp of DD's drinks because on the very rare occasion we do go out for a drink she has milkshake, juice, fruit smoothie or water. She mostly has just water though. But it's a good idea to check the temperature of anything that comes from a machine making hot drinks.
My DD does not have Babycinno's(very very very fussy child:rolleyes:) but if she did I would definitely check the temp before she touched it....just can't put my faith in a lot of people to be thinking on the job unfortunately.
I hope your friends little guy will recover quickly :hugs:
A fluffy(we call them that back in NZ lol)
should be just that-fluff!
When frothing the milk, the temp should be 65 degrees.
When making a fluffy,it should just be froth,no milk.No way would I EVER serve a child a 65 degree fluffy:no:

 NOT what I thought a 'fluffy' was at all...
I don't drink tea or coffee during the day unless the kids are asleep. So no chance of it happening.

I check every warm drink my children have from a bottle to a Milo made at home to a hot chocolate in a cafe. I don't trust anyone but myself when it comes to making hot drinks for my children you can never be to careful.
But I agree with others comments, the cafe your freind went to is at fault. And I hope her lil boy is going to be ok.

I always check because I take my 2 to several different ones and they don't all make them the same. Some have just froth others chocolate milk. I always put my finger right down the middle because their is hardly and water in it but enough to burn!!
I think that if your asking for a babycino that they should be required to keep them cooler than hot!!

I just clicked on this thread to find out what a 'fluffy' was...... Ok, now I know.
I usually do check the temperature but I also ask them to make the drink not too hot because it's for a small child.
Also I have taught dd to test it with her spoon and to be careful since she did burn her tongue once on an overly hot babychino.
