Hi! I'm around 15 weeks pregnant and my uterus tilts backwards. I have been told by my OB that it should correct itself but it hasn't yet. I was wondering if there is anyone out there who has a tilted uterus and at what point during the pregnancy it corrected itself. Thanks.

I have a retroverted uterus (tilted backwards instead of forwards). I actually wasn't told about this until I had my NT scan a few weeks ago! I've already had 3 babies and never knew.

Anyhow, the sonographer said that it's not really an issue.

Obviously I have already carried and birthed three children without any problems so I'm not too worried about it :)

I didn't ask when it should correct itself, but I think once your baby has really poped out over your pelvis, it should tilt forward again.

I am only about a week behind you and my belly hasn't popped yet. I went for my NT a week ago and it was still tilted.

I have one. It retoverted after the birth of my first son.

There's nothing to worry about, the uterus actually tilts forward again from 15-20 weeks gestation apparently. Mine did at around 18-20 mark, when I had my scan.

I have/had a retroverted uterus too.....welcome to the club

I found this out when pregnant with DS1. It has never casued me any dramas, and I'm now pregnant with my 4th, so it was never an issue for me.

The only thing was that I needed to have an internal ultrasound at one stage in my first pregnancy, as they couldn't see what they needed to.
I'm not sure if mine has corrected itself or not, but nobody has ever said anything about it since.

I don't have a retroverted uterus but my SIL does. She has had 3 healthy pregnancies and 3 healthy babies and has just found out that her uterus is still retroverted. It has never caused her any problems and apparently it never will. She's looking into having another baby within a year and the OB has given her the go-ahead. Like MT&J's Mum said, my SIL had to have internal ultrasounds early on in the pregnancies as a standard ultrasound can't detect the young bub in a retroverted uterus.

Best wishes,

CC

Hi
I had one too. I had a very healthy boy 2 months ago with a 4 hour labour. It's nothing to worry about.
Gooo luck for the rest of your pregnancy:flowerz:

Hi Ladies!

Just wanted to give you an update regarding my tilted uterus. Well, it's no longer tilted but unfortunately it didn't quite happen naturally. Over the weekend and Monday I started having some serious trouble going to the toilet. We ended up contacting my OB/GYN and she said to go to the hospital. We did and I had a catheter inserted. I stayed overnight and the catheter stayed in for around 18 hours. I must admit it was pretty unpleasant but it cleared out my bladder and in the process my uterus tipped itself forward. We had an ultrasound this morning that confirmed it.

I'm 17 weeks so pretty happy that my uterus is finally where it should be!

Thanks again for all of your responses.
