Well it might just be her way of saying... "let me out of here!!!" ;)

Maybe she's lying there awake for a while and starts crying when she's bored, like Becca-Rae said 'let me outta here'

I know Seth wakes up a while before he wakes me up. I don't get him up til he starts yelling though (honestly I swear that kid doesn't know how to cry!) coz sometimes he goes back to sleep.

My son has always done this too with his day naps and it is sooo frustrating isnt it.
Why arent our kids like the ones u can buy on Ebay or like the ones all our friends have, where they just wake up gooing and gaaaing, building to a cry slowly if they dont get responded too
I think its just the way my son is, but i have now found that dropping his arvo sleep helps this. He got so into an way of life with having 2 day sleeps even tho he didnt need the 2nd one any more.
(oh, my son is nearly 11 mths btw)
how many hours does she sleep a nite? How many hours all up including the nite time as well.
I went to sleep school when Zeak was younger so i lernt a bit of a pattern with their sleeping and stuff, so maybe she is getting to little or too much, or maybe a growth spurt or upset tummy?
Anyhows, ill await ur replys but i truely hope things clear up for you soon and she stops it, it IS just aweful isnt it, its like they wake up in the midst of a nite mare:(

yea sometimes babies do wake up to nite mares, but some kids, like mine was but is starting to slowly come out of it, did it every day of his life. So many differences in children arent there, yet ultimatly they are all the same bundles of love!

hi everyone
thanks for the advice
DD will have 3 sleeps during the day of about 40 minutes and she goes to bed at nite about 6pm and will wake around 6.30am so she is getting plenty of sleep at nite.
she generally goes to sleep during the day without fuss.
the second she wakes up she stands up in her cot and starts crying she really doesnt even give herself time to wake up.

this is so common - my ds has done it since he was tiny! and still does it. i am a member on another chat place and many mums there have experienced the same thing. my ds seems to get up before he fully wakes up, hence the crying. just give them loads of cuddles and they slowly feel better and are up and about. you could take your child to the doctor but i think you will find they will tell you its pretty common

Maybe it's because she's not getting enough sleep (as others have suggested) - 40 mins is a reasonably short sleep. My bub did this all the time (and is doing it again now -arghh!!) and I found it sometimes helped to get straight back in there and try to resettle her - she would sometimes go back to sleep for an hour or so. Also I found when I did this for awhile she'd sometimes not wake but keep sleeping for longer and then wake happy :smiliedance:

No harm in trying anyway!

Sorry I can't offer any advice. My 11mo has just started doing this aswell. She only does it after her afternoon nap so I'm starting to think that it is because she is hot. A friend suggested to me that I go in and resettle her and give her some water to drink and leave her to go back to sleep. I haven't tried it yet, but she says that she did and still does it with her 2yo when he wakes and then he goes back down for another hour :yelclap:

It really is hard for us mums, because we don't quite know why they're so upset or how to passify them. :banghead:

Good luck & thanks for this question. I'm sure that these responses are going to help me too :D
