Need advice, I am going to give up coke as of today.I am really put off by the thought of how much sugar there is in coke and I read something about sugar today that scared me.

I also dont want my son to be able to remember me being addicted to coke.

I am going shopping today and dont have any left.

What should I do?

I was going to not buy any more and do the cold turkey thing as I think it would work better knowing me.But my mum says "cut down slowly", I just dont think it would be as affective cutting down.My reasons are, it would take alot to monitor my intake, and I might give up.I did give coke up for a week before and one coke was enough to make me crumble.

What should I do?

I was thinking of buying some kind of drink (like many differnt fruit drinks)
to sip on when I feel like a coke.

How long will it take for the symptoms of addiction to lessen?

Thanks

Perhaps sub diet coke/zero/caffene free?

Unfortunately most other softdrinks, cordials, juices etc are also full of sugar-water, milk, or tea would probably be your best option if you drink regularly. Unless u go the artificial sweetener route but I don't know how you feel about those:detective:

I was thinking the juice would be good while I kick the caffene (sp?) addiction then I can stop having it all.Do you think it would work?

I'm not sure really-I've never been much of a drinker of anything other than water, because we never had anything else as kids:rolleyes: so i never got the 'taste' of it.

My DH used to drink a lot of coke though-I can't really remember how he stopped. I believe after a while you kind of stop craving the sugar/caffeine rush but in the meantime the crash makes you feel a bit yuck:(

Perhaps it would work, and then gradually you could start to dilute your juice until you are just having water:confused: I know some people who drink iced water with slices of lemon, orange, lime etc for a lil flavour. But if u are used to coke that would probably taste pretty foul at first I would expect:laughing:

The best thing you can drink it water when withdrawing from caffeine. Caffeine can make you dehydrated. And water will help with the bad headaches that will happen over about 3 or so days.

Yeah well I didnt have anything but water until I was 12, I tasted pepis and later coke, I liked it and then ended up buying a can here and there with my pocket money which turned into an addiction.lol, but thanks anyway (my son will only have water to)

Thanks chelle, I will just have water then.

I've come off coke a few times, and it can really suck. I found that drinking tons of water helped as it makes me too full to even think about having coke.

i had a major coke addiction, my first ds was made from it!! lol
i went on tf diet early last year and you cant have it and as i was cutting out everything else it was sort of cold turkey
but you could have coke thats caffiene free, now that im off my diet i had a coke the other day it just about made me spew from the taste
i reckon swap to an alternate that has no suger like pepsi max or coke zero, caffiene free or diet coke, it will take a while to get used to but at least theres no sugar!!

good luck

patsmum my son was made from it to :o

Okay, so I dont know how long it has been but I am doing well, I have been having head aches, low moods, sugar craving's and have been feeling like coke. But luckly my mind is stronger and I am not having one.

I really feel ashamed of myself for ever starting such a bad habbit.Coke prices were getting a bit over the top to, they arent getting any more money from me.Oh and I have just been having water.

Feeling very proud of myself ATM :goodvibes:

Now, the hard part is going to be saying "no, thanks" when people offer me coke. How will I not give in to 'the call', it can be so persuasive. But I cant let myself get addicted again.

hang in there
i did it
had shocking migraines and all for about 4 days then magically around day 5 woke up and was fine.

if you need soft drink get a lemonade or something with no caffiene or cola to make you an addict again

Well done Neo! Keep it up! You will feel great in a few days. And if you start drinking heaps of water, you will look fantastic, you skin will look great!
