Up until about a week ago, my DD was a fantastic sleeper and would go down without a fuss. I'd pop her into her cot when she was tired, give her a little pat and walk out of the room. She'd chatter away to herself for a little while, then fall asleep. Not a problem.

Over this last week, as soon as she knows it's sleep time, she become hysterical! Even if I go anywhere near her bedroom, and she thinks i'm about to put her in the cot, she starts freaking out!

I don't know why, all of a sudden she's hating going to sleep. Last night, she screamed for 45 minutes... I kept going in there, picking her up to cuddle her, but she wouldn't even settle in my arms. She was beside herself!

Has anyone elses baby suddlenly changed like this? I just can't work out why this is happening or what's causing her to detest sleep all of a sudden. :(

I think I have to put it down to teething... I gave her some panadol earlier this morning, and she's just gone down for her afternoon nap, without fussing or crying!

Gees I wish she could talk sometimes and tell me what was wrong...

anyway.. looks like i'm just having a conversation with myself here.

Hi Katie,

I'ma June mummy too :) Owen has been like that too, but it is because he has dropped his sleep to one sleep a day instead of two. So he is going down for a nap a bit later than before(lunchtime instead of 10am).

I hope it's just teething for Lily, it's awful when they get themselves into such a state!!

Thanks.. I did consider that maybe she was getting ready to drop a sleep. I've noticed that she's not seeming so tired at around 9am, which is when she usually would have a morning sleep... So maybe she's crying cause she's not ready for sleep???

And maybe I've just medicated her for nothing...

It's so hard to know sometimes.
