Has anyone heard of the old wives tale that what your child's height is at 2 years old, you double that and that's how tall they will be as an adult. I was wondering if any of you think this is true and what does your child's 'adult' height work out as?

This is how tall my kids will be (if this is true;) );

Owen - 95cm at 2 years = 190cm adult height (or 6ft 4in :eek: )
Kathleen - 90cm = 180cm (6ft even)
Nette - 92cm at 21mths = 184cm (6ft 2in) provided she doesn't get any taller in the next 3 months

Does anything I should get them playing basketball:D

Hi Browniebear, I asked this same question here a few months ago: http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?t=7107

Apparently some people use a slightly different rule of thumb. I think my DD worked out to be around 5'8". Which isn't that tall but pretty good for my family (I'm only 5'3"! lol)

i recently checked this theory out with the CSIRO and its "generally" 20 mths for a girl and 26 mths for a boy that you measure to get 1/2 their adult height
