Hi guys -

Today I was looking at Brion grinning at me, with his mouth full of chompers, when I got to thinking "Before I know it, he's gonna lose those beautiful teeth". And then THAT got me thinking, "How much DOES the Tooth Fairy pay these days?"

Back when I was a little tacker, the Tooth Fairy wasn't the most generous woman around. The most I got paid was $1 and that was for a molar! But I've heard that due to inflation, the Tooth Fairy has to fork out quite a bit for this commodity nowadays.

So how much does your local Tooth Fairy pay?

Our local fairy pays in a combo of coins-usually adding up to about $2-and gemstones/crystals. A small collection of beautiful stones means so much to a 6yo in our family and loads of our friends do similar things too so the children aren't necessarily comparing with the old "How much did you get?" scenario.:)

I think the most the 'tooth fairy' ever paid us was about $2 for our molars.

She was very late on occasions, sometimes our pay wouldn't go in for up to a week later! ;)

I think James is teething and I was wondering today how much the tooth fairy pays - I have heard its not really the amount as much as the actual amount of money that is placed under the glass (like instead of a $2 coin its $2 worth of 20c, 10c, 50c etc). I was thinking $4 - there isnt much you can buy for $2 unless its lollies and I dont want to encourage that!!

The most I ever got was 20 cents....I had a stingy tooth fairy. My kids get $2 per tooth.

I love this idea. i think with Elise ill give her $2 per tooth maybe $3 if its a biggun (hehe), but to a small child the little stones would be such a treasure so i think ill put that to work too...once she starts loosing them of course. It wont be a while yet though shes only turning 1 in a few weeks

i think the most i got from the tooth fairy was about 50c-$1... talk about stingy

mine keep telling me that the price doubles if the dentist has to pull them out for them. i generally give $2 for the first tooth $1 for the second and 50 cents for every tooth thereafter. if the tooth has a filling in it then the child has to pay the toothfairy 10 cents for disposal.

I think I got 50c, and $1 for molars. My oldest is only 2.5 so I'd better start saving now. Wonder what the going rate will be when she starts losing them.

On the other hand, I had two wisdom teeth yanked out last week. I forgot to ask to take them home. What do you think the tooth fairy should have brought me for those huge things?

My tooth fairy gave us the largest denomination available in coins - and that's what DD will get too, so $2.

Shame I didn't get anything except a swollen face for 2 weeks when I had my wisdom teeth removed!
