Hi,
My daughter Courtney who is 6 1/2 years old has alot of allergies. Food and outdoor allergens.
She has been tested and Prof. Walls said she has allergies to additives, preservatives, artificial colours and flavours, we try to avoid many of these but sometimes its impossible.
For the last 4 days she has been covered head to toe in a rash, we have given her her medication and the rash doesnt go.
We took her to doctor today and he said that her allergies are most likely picking up the pace (so to speak, getting worse) apart from giving her a huge dose of steroids we needed to start an alimination diet and if that doesnt work and it begins to get worse we need to go to RPA hospital in sydney.
I have never done this before (apart from starting solids with a newborn) I have only bought items that donot contain those items.
Can you please help me on how to get started and what bland foods I can start her on, also she goes to school so I am needing some realistic lunch box foods as well

TIA
Lisa

Hi Lisa, the best advice I can give would be to grab a hold of Sue Dengates Failsafe cookbook. Also look up the website at fedup.com.au Sue's stuff is all preservative, colours, additive free. It is also low in salycilates and amines. The elimination diet is hard for the kids to start with, especially the older ones, but with talking them through it all you can make it work. It is hard in that you will need to prepare everything yourself to make sure you are staying on the elimination diet. I would also suggest that you email Sue for a list of supportive dieticians to help you through the process. They will be able to help you with which things to challenge first and what sort of sensitivity your daughter may have to each of the elements. I hope that helps but if you need to ask any questions then please PM me. We have done the elimination diet and both my boys are intolerant to preservatives, and food additives as well as natural food chemicals. Good luck.

Great to hear. Let us know how you go. Just remember it is quite hard to find a solution for rashes so don't give up too soon. It may take some fine tuning to get it all to work out. Good luck.
