I got a bunch of wool covers and longies that MIL so kindly knitted for me and am a tiny bit unsure of what to do now before I can use them.
I've read through the 'washing cloth nappies' section and I think I have the jist of it but am a bit unsure.
I'm assuming I should wash the covers in wool wash first to remove anything irritating in the wool dye. Two questions here. Can I use the 'wool wash' option on my washing machine or is that still too harsh? And also do i follow the rule of half the amount of detergent (in this case wool wash) or use the recomended amount?
Then if I'm right I need to lanolise them with the nipple stuff dissolved in the hot and warm water like described. Squeeze out, dry and they're ready to go?
And my last queery is about washing them after use. I'm getting the jist that you air them out when they get 'wet' and only wash them when they stop being so absorbant or start smelling. So if you use wool during the day does this mean you rotate and air out two as you would with PUL covers? And also if you need to wash because poo has gotten on them do you need to re-lanolise them again?
Lots of questions. Really appreciate the help. How on earth did anyone do cloth properly before bubhub:p
