Ok so i have been doing some research on it as my DH son's mother has it (if that makes sense lol) my concern is for Hunter (yes he has been vaccinated) but all the research i have done indicates that they can still contract it (i guess like any other sickness) and esp if there immune system is down.

My main concern is because Hunter has been so ill these last few months and his immune system is very very low and both Hunter and myself cant afford for him to get sick (both physically ans emotionally)

My question is can the child be a carrier of whooping cough and pass it to us? Im trying to make the best decision for DS, whether to be in the house when the child comes over or DH takes him out for the day, for the next few visits?

Thanks to anyone who has any helpful advice :)

I would call your GP and have a chat to him about it.

I would be keeping your distance from people you know have been exposed to it. I had it a few years back (I have no idea where I got it from) and I couldn't imagine a child having to suffer through it.

I think getting advice from a medical expert would be the way to go.

Good luck!

Obviously the best thing is to discuss it with your Dr.

If Hunter has had the full course of vaccinations for Pertusis, then there is a 80-90% likelyhood that he is immune to the disease. Has DH's son been immunised??? If so and he doesnt have any symptom then it is unlikely he is a carrier.

The boys mother should have been put on a course of antibiotics which after approx a week would make her non contagious, even though she may still have the cough for weeks and weeks..
A few years ago it was discovered that the vaccine does not give lifelong immunity....so adults are actually at more risk then immunised children. It's worth also talking to your Dr about you and DH having a booster.
