View Full Version : Maclarens on sale in Myer (Carindale, Qld)

Hi, just thought I'd let people know I saw Maclaren strollers on special in Myer Carindale on Saturday - Twin Techno $399, Ryder $299, Day Trpper $99. Not many left though.

I guess its due to the new pram regs coming in July 1 - they are selling off the ones that don't meet the new standards.

But there are new laws coming in on July 1 that say that each pram / stroller has to have a RED brake and a tether strap (to go round your wrist). I think it is since there have been a number of incidents of prams rolling away.

I believe it is a legal requirement, so that prams that don't have it can't be legally sold (brand new anyway). A lot of prams already have this and I have read that manufacturers have known about it for a while. I believe that's why there a number of pram sales lately and will be more this month.

I reckon there will have to be some sort of way for existing pram owners to modify their prams (the strap will be easy enough, don't know about the brakes though?). Don't know how it will affect second-hand pram sales.

Interesting isn't it. My old P&T has a tether strap but a black footbrake, don't know about the new ones.

ah ok! Yeah my 3 wheeler has a hand strap that I always use. I was in the baby shop the other day and noticed a few prams with red brakes and wondered why. Thanks for that :)

No, didn't see any pink. Day Tripper looked black and the Twin Techno was orang (tangerine?) and grey. Ryder was brown I think?
Also had a few Esprit ones there too.

PS May be worth ringing wround the Brisbane Myers as I think its probably remaining stock, so others may have better variety.
